2009 is over, and it was a pretty big year for gaming. Whats your game of the year for 2009?

Mine was a toss up between two games, Left 4 Dead 2 and Borderlands. I've gone with Borderlands, however. The game is so massive and fun. I have a bit more fun than when I play L4D2. But the fact that the creators have released two DLC packs in the two months since the release of the game shows they fully intend to support the title for a long time go come.

I also think Borderlands is the best original I.P. this year, with Prototype and Batman: Arkham Asylum coming in tied for second.

Good year for gaming, overall. Although I admit that its sad that the remakes of God of War 1 and 2 were also some of the top games of the year.

I was highly disappointed with Halo Wars and Halo: ODST, as well as Assassin's Creed 2. Brutal Legend disappointed me, but not as much. Mostly because its an RTS and the creators won't acknowledge that fact. The way it was marketed screamed God of War style to me.

Music game wise, I was mostly disappointed in the later half of the year, but the early part of 09 had Guitar Hero: Metallica drop, which was awesome. The midpart had Guitar Hero: Smash Hits, which also rocked. Everything after that mostly disappointed me. DJ Hero was pretty fun, but that type of music really isn't my thing. Rock Band 2 continued to impress with consistant weekly DLC again this year. Good stuff, too.

Highly disappointed by the fact that Modern Warfare 2 pretty much forced every other game to reschedule into next year. In the first three to four months of the new year, I have about fifteen titles to play, on top of stuff this year I missed (Mostly handheld stuff, like Kingdom Hearts for DS, and FF: Disidia on PSP).

So, what did you all think of this year in gaming (I know this is Xbox only, but I did mention some Sony stuff, apologies if that actually makes people angry, but to be honest, if it does, whats wrong with you? I own tons of systems, its about the games, not the companies).

My GOTY has to be Arkham Asylum just because I wasn't expecting anything great from it. It truly surprised me. As a result, it's left quite an impression on me. Borderlands is high on my list of the great games of 2009 though, along with MW2.

Here's hoping AA2 will be just as good or better, even.

I gotta say ASII disappointed me. Even though it was a long wait, a lot of the issues the plauged the first game were still there. Free running works better, but its not fixed. It's still broken, and occasionally you'll find yourself randomly leaping to your death, or accidently turniing and jumping off something while trying to climb it.

The story was ok. Half way through when your revenge is had, and the story continues, I was confused. The ending was also a bit confusing and disappointed me.

I'm still having fun with Borderlands, though. Mad Moxxi DLC is excellent. :D

I've played so many games this year, it's hard for me to pick which one deserves game of the year. I just finished Dragon Age: Origins and it's definitely somewhere at the top of my list, but for now the number one spot is undecided. I'm surprised by how many of you loved Borderlands so much though. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but by the time I finished it I felt like it lacked something important. Lately I've been mostly interested in the story of a game, which is why I loved Dragon Age so much.

Lots of good games this year, but my award for number one best would have to go Batman Arkham Asylum. It gets my number one because I really didn't expect anything from it since most games based off of comic book heroes suck hard, but I was really surprised with how great it turned out. Ive played through it almost ten times and Im still playing it just because of how satisfying the combat is and how fun the stealth element is.

I've played alot of games this year. I can't decide which I like better, its between Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, and Assassins Creed 2. Both games have some great fighting, but Modern Warfare 2 has a Co-op mode, and online, but Assassins Creed 2 is such a big game. Both have great gameplay, and awesome graphics, but it's just too hard for me to choose.
