Growing more weary of Kenya, especially with the creepy soundtrack in the background of this scene

This episode was really nice. Last scene was just adorable.

Hinazuki's mother is such a bitch.

Teacher seems nice but really shifty for some reason.

Noooo I don't want that smart blond kid to be the evil.. I liked him..

The abuse is kinda uncomfortable to watch so but I feel like that's nothing comparing to what's gonna happen... but I hope I'm wrong,I can't handle child abuse

Many pieces unraveled, but so many layers beneath them all. I wonder what the blonde boy and the teacher have to do with Kayo's death.

Damnit!

I knew I'd get mad if they left it on a cliffhanger. Anyways, it was alright but it might turn to crap later on. Enjoying it though, especially with that Christmas Tree scene.

Wowww another magnificent episode! Really love seeing Satoru helping out Hinazuki and caring for her! It was nice seeing Satoru standing up for her too in class. Feel so bad for her, what a shit mum she seems to have. That ending scene with them and the foxes circling them, as well as the Christmas tree scene was so beautiful and quite sentimental and heartwarming, definitely love Kayo's smile there~~

That ending is v suspicious~

Dat Christmas tree.

Another wonderful episode. So Kayo mom was really beating her. In the background was that her dad or the mom's bf? Whatever the case that's fucked up how they abusing her.

Satoru is one of the best MC I seen in awhile. Him being a grown man inside his kid self makes his decisions seem more real to the situation. Love how he thinks more then he speaks. Also love the fact that he doesn't remember to much. It's kind of like a flash back in a flash back.

Kenya is so suspect right now. I don't want to believe it, but I don't trust this kid.

Loving the levels to this anime, Can't wait for next week.

Season 2? when???

No season two. The manga is ending the same month the anime is ending. It's getting the manga's original ending.

I REALLY hope that's just rust.
Probably thinking about it too much, but with this anime... who knows.

Huh cool, I haven't heard of a manga adaptation doing that before.

1. Send those parents to Higurashi universe, let characters torture them there.
2. Send to game of thrones world and let Roose Bolton flay them.
3. Recover em, send to Blood-C for some snack brutality.
4. Recover em again, send back to main world.
5. Send em into alternate nightmare dimension and break their minds.
6. Send back to main world.. and for fck sake. let the main character simply brutalize them.. by planning and hiding.. cuz noone will suspect a damn kid.

All the episodes of this show so far have been outstanding in every aspect, the characters are so original, not just overused tropes. Finding out about Kayo's background this episode was interesting and theyre doing a really good job of developing her character, now im so excited for the next episode.

If things keep going like this boku dake ga inai machi is set up to be one of my favourite anime of all time!!

Hm. Great episode which leads to a lot of questions. Kayo's mother is such a bitch, and those red eyes of that man sitting on the couch.. RED EYES EVERYWHERE.

Love the visuals!

The scene lingering on the teacher in the shadow makes him even more suspicious

I don't know if it's just Japan or something but seeing that a child is abused constantly and only going to check it only 3 times during the whole damn year? What?

Am I just seeing things or did the visuals really show a cloudy sky when Satoru said that it was cloudless?

Damn. That was a powerful episode. Kayo's mother is just awful. I had some "rage" moments during this one with the abuse scenes that had me at "Rainbow: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin" levels. While I initially felt that Satoru wasn't doing enough for Kayo, that ending scene swayed me. Can't wait for the next one and more twists to be unveiled.

Damn! Great episode.
overall, really a thrilling and romantic episode. i like when Hinazuki and Satoru times at the end. but after that...

^
i'm guessing that the director was trying to convince the watcher that those two ain't any suspicious people from; Kenya saving Hinazuki from all that blame in the second half, and the teacher was trying so hard to save her from the child abuse too, and okay, i think they are a good guy but..... after seeing that last scene, there is no way i can still think they are a good guy.

Anyway, really great episode.
i'm looking foward to the next episode :D

that is a really nice moment :D
that child abuse scene....it's really hard to watch that scene...

I'm scared to call this AOTS. Last time I fell in love with a show like this was when Zankyou No Terror was airing.

Still came out great but...

Regardless, this is something special.

I think there is more potential in this show than in Zankyou no Trash.

Now that I can agree. But been a hermit since that anime aired. Calld Your Lie in April to be a great show before it aired, never watched, ended up being AOTY for most. Meh.

But this, if they're working with the author, this just can not fail. I can't see how it will fail.

At this rate of the adaptation, they will need to have more than 12 episodes for the full story. Almost no scenes were skipped.

Hopefully this will get a second season, and considering how well it's going (Ranked #25) I believe there is a good chance it will

You don't seriously believe the MAL rank has anything to do with a show getting a second season, right?

No way it took me 3 episodes to notice the great soundtrack. My bad. My heart breaks when I see Kayo being abused. And I'm afraid it's not the only kind of abuse we will see. Shivers. Can't stand the thrill.

The teacher and that guy (sorry I'm bad with names after 7 days) are very suspicious... Hmm, I don't know if I want it to be so obvious.

I'm far more suspicious of teacher than Kenya. His has sharp eyes like culprit and that easy going, sneaky, mysterious smile that makes me uneasy. He is not 100% that's for sure.

Kayo's mother is really pissing me off. I hope they explain what her problem is, like maybe she herself was abused, or has some kind of mental illness. I can't imagine anyone's mother being that cruel without some kind of a reason.

Satoru is the best. The rapport he had with Kayo in the second half was really nice.

5/5

Actually, that's one of the reasons why they tend to get away so often. Mayority of child abusers in Western countries are mother, somewhat of a 75/25 split. It's why the focus on the father as perpretator leaves so many children without help.

The situation is kinda messed up, it's hard for him to actually help her, he can't exactly go and stab her mother or something. :|

That was a pretty faithful episode adaption par from some occasional skipping around but the anime always came back to adapt the scenes it skipped so solid.
About 2-3 chapters adapted (since the Yuuki convo was a mashup of chapters 12 and 20)

How are they going to finish this in 12 episodes?

Seeing those scenes with music and voice acting was really cute!!! <3

Despite having read the manga, I'm starting to enjoy the anime even more thanks to the direction and its production values.

Also looking at the discussion, It's kind of funny to see people make incorrect guesses regarding the culprit's identity when the opening blatantly spoils twice. I guess everyone skips it.

Damn, this anime is really atmospheric. They know exactly when to use and not use music. The lack of soundtracks at certain parts makes it haunting and real. Fucking beautifully done, this anime is amazing.

This anime is so good.

Ugh, her mother. The scenes with her made me both sad and angry.
The scene with Christmas tree was wonderful.
That last scene, though... I hope it doesn't mean more trouble or something xd

I think I will read the manga too.
As I read that the anime's getting manga's ending, so they might rush the anime.

I knew what was coming, but seeing Kayo like that was still painful. I'm glad they shared a beautiful moment near the end.

This episode also made me notice again how much more music can add to already well done scenes.
