Nice. Sakamoto-sama gracing us with his presence.

Also, great to see Chihayafuru at #1. I just love the volume cover for that artwork. Season 3 please.

Boku dake ga Inai Machi getting a boost, happy to see that. Fairy Tail still hanging in there, and Chihayafuru number 1, happy for that, *prays that Chihayafuru gets licensed in english*.

I adore that Chihayafuru cover. They always look fab though, always. Consistently great sales for Fairy Tail again is good to see, best cover in a long tie as well.

Nice to see Dagashi Kashi and Boku dake ga Inai Machi already having a visible boost.

*6. *94,138 *,*94,138 Nobunaga Concerto Vol.13
12. *67,333 *,382,298 Shokugeki no Souma Vol.16
13. *65,371 *,*65,371 Baby Steps Vol.38

Always fab to see these 3 up there. Hoping for a S2 of Nobunaga Concerto at some point, superb series. Shokugeki steadily increasing and Baby Steps with decent first week sales, expecting it to hit 120k next week.

Good post anime boost for Gakkougurashi! v6 did 89K in 2 weeks, v7 has already beaten it in wk1 with almost 93K. Volumes prior to v6 and the anime announcement never ranked at all by the look of it.

ehh... gintama sales is still there. not bad, but not great either looking at number.

50. *19,606 *,*91,961 Saiki Kusuo no Ψ Nan Vol.16
just give us anime adaptation already. i don't even care if it picked up by pierrot or toei. as long as it can be long run and can keep the comedy, i am fine.

*1. 252,791 2,529,273 One Piece Vol.79
*4. 121,549 2,561,081 One Piece Vol.80

Despite its good first week, it ended being rather frontloaded and looks like it will sell less than volume 79 overall, unless it starts picking up.

30. *29,936 1,665,561 Shingeki no Kyojin Vol.13
22. *32,465 1,653,516 Shingeki no Kyojin Vol.14

13. *36,572 1,657,804 Shingeki no Kyojin Vol.17
25. *37,378 1,689,048 Shingeki no Kyojin Vol.18

Currently above every other SNK volume after six weeks despite the somewhat sluggish start. Seems to have a very stable fanbase.

28. *27,228 *,786,118 Tokyo Ghoul:re Vol.3
29. *27,093 *,760,605 Tokyo Ghoul:re Vol.4
33. *26,149 *,789,531 Tokyo Ghoul:re Vol.5

Very healthy and consistent performance. This volume will sell about as much as Vol.3

I'm glad to see Erased doing well. Hopefully the boost gets bigger as the anime continues.
I'm no special story or anything. I'm just a manga that wants to be read, like you could find anywhere. But, if, for argument's sake, you were to adapt me into an anime series, it would certainly be....a tragedy.

Oh damn. That was fast. I wonder if the live action movie that's coming this march will boost it even further like the Orange live action movie.

33. *26,149 *,789,531 Tokyo Ghoul:re Vol.5

Consistent sales so far but I'm more curious to see volume 6's sales since it had some of the best moments in the series.

Absolutely adore it.

Chihayafuru is probably the most popular Josei manga ever created; popularity doesn't always mean quality but it is a quality manga. We hardly ever see 5+ volumes for manga dedicated to the said demography, 10+ is even rarer, but to reach 30 volumes and still going so strong, it's an amazing feat.

I hope MADHOUSE animates a third season, which is even rarer!

Happy for that Erased boost. Well deserved. I'm loving the anime and am planning to pick up the manga shortly.

Now if only Showa could get a big boost. That would really make me happy.

Yeah, looks like vol.80 is quiet slow compared to vol.79 & 78...
Well, vol.78 got
and vol.79 got "Suicide". While vol.80 got plenty of great chapter like "Parent & Child", "Follower's Sakazukis", "Zou", and finally "Opening Declaration", I think those chapter wasn't as hyping as
and "Suicide". But I dunno, maybe vol.80 will ended up above vol.78 and vol.79.

Still waiting for Chihayafuru season 3.
But it's important to remember that a movie review is subjective;it only gives you one person's opinion.

It doesn't matter if you like LoGH,Monster etc.If you are a jobless or college/school dropout living in your mom basement, you are still an unintelligent loser. Taste in anime does not make you a better person. If elitist don't exist, casual pleb and shit taste also don't exist.

I wonder if can make it to next week's list...

It all depends on what will be the threshold next week. Each TG;re volume since the second one has sold approximately the same number of copies in its fifth week (26 - 27k) but none of them made a sixth (straight) week on the list.

Yeah, looks like vol.80 is quiet slow compared to vol.79 & 78...
Well, vol.78 got "Gear 4th" and vol.79 got "Suicide". While vol.80 got plenty of great chapter like "Parent & Child", "Follower's Sakazukis", "Zou", and finally "Opening Declaration", I think those chapter wasn't as hyping as "Gear 4th" and "Suicide". But I dunno, maybe vol.80 will ended up above vol.78 and vol.79.

gear 4th was on volume 79 not 78. And volume 80 had 7 days in the first week instead of 4 or 3 of the other volumes, thats why it had so many sales in the first week, and it doesnt sell as much as the others in the following weeks.

hmm? nope, gear fourth was on vol.78, http://onepiece.wikia.com/wiki/Volume_78

yeah, thats why I said vol.80 is quiet slow compared to vol.79 & 78. The hype on vol.80 wasn't as strong as vol.78 & vol.79. Not to mention vol.79 has a better volume cover (for me). :3
But there's still a possibility that vol.80 ended up above those previous 2 volumes.

I dont get this mind set that if there is a super great chapter in a volume then the sales will be greater. I don't know how many buyers follow one piece weekly, but I'm pretty sure its in the minorty, for eg. The average buyers that buys the monthly magazine for snk is like 80k a month. While the majority follows it by buying the tankabon version which is over 2 million.

So how the hell would the people that buys only the tankabon volume for one piece would know that luffy would turn into gear 4 in this volume? I can only understand if the buyers were all hype after reading the previous volume, that when the new volume came out they would go and buy it immediately. In most cases these stuff does little effect tbh.

I also find it funny how people casually talk about luffy gear 4 in this thread as if everyone is caught up to the manga or anime. I got spoiled about gear 4th along time ago, but you guys should be respectfully and spoiler tag those stuff.

ahh my bad, forgot to add spoiler tags...

as for "So how the hell would the people that buys only the tankabon volume for one piece would know that luffy would turn into gear 4 in this volume?", people talk with each other everyday, when some hype happens in the weekly format, I'm pretty much sure those tankobon only buyers would know either from their friends or someone who talking about it.

G4 was a big hype, and OP fanbase is large in Japan, there's no way those tankobon only buyers never heard about it before the volume release. They also could read it from friends who buys weekly magazine. Just because you didn't buy the weekly magazine, doesn't mean you remain unaware about the latest event that happened in weekly magazine.

And you could predict which chapter would included in the upcoming volume by counting from the latest volume. And If I'm not mistaken, the publisher give information to the buyers beforehand about which chapter would included in the volume, even OP wikia listed which chapter would included before volume release.

Yes AoT is mostly follow es by tankobon readers, but not One Piece. Weekly shonen jump sells around 2.5 million weekly so 2.5 million people See the new chapter. One Piece volumes sell around 3.2 million by volume so most readers are reading it weekly. Also G 4 was also gea sei in the last chapter of the previous volume 78, so many people were hype for it.

@Blackwallet. Ok, that sounds plausable. I will take your word for it.

@AdmiralKizaru98 not saying I don't believe you, but do you have any prove for that? Like a link that shows how many people buy the magazine by weekly?

Attack on Titan and its magazine situation is in no way related with One Piece. One Piece magazine has 2.6 Million buyers and is estimated that 10 Million read the magazine every week. Is normal for one magazine to pass by many hands, specially the most popular manga magazine. Also this magazines are placed all over coffee shops and other places where you can go and read, for free!.
Here the official info given by the publisher itself: http://adnavi.shueisha.co.jp/mediaguide/2015/pdf/boys.pdf

This comment in Weekly Shounen Jump section :

"わが国が誇る圧倒的な人気と面白さのコミック誌。
常に超人気作品を生みだし続けて、小、中、高、大
学生、社会人まで含め約1,000万人が読んでいる超
強力メディアです。"

Translate to something like this

"Comic magazine of overwhelming popularity and fun that our country is proud of.
Since ever continues to create super-popular works to elementary, middle, high and college school
Students, and even workers making about 10 million people that are reading
this Powerful media."

Note that Attack on Titan is a niche magazine. So niche that it even his called "Bessatsu" that means "Supplementary".

Still just 1 chapter doesn't have that much influence in the numbers. What is most important is the hype/word of mouth around the series at that moment.

Thanks, I got way more info than I was expecting. Oh, I forgot the magazine that snk is in is not that very popular. That's why I assume it would be the same for all series. Thank you for clearing that up.
