I think there's oftentimes a lot more than the MC that keeps me watching a show such as the concept/plot and the action.

I kept watching and fairly enjoyed Mirai Nikki and Guilty Crown even though I didn't like Yuki or Shu. Then there are shows like Endride where I couldn't stomach the MC. but there were MANY other problems with that show

It depends on the reasons why i dislike the MC. If the MC is a walking Stereotype, I'll probably dislike the show. But if the MC is unlikeable on purpose and it has bearing on how the story goes, I think thats perfectly fine.

Just dropped Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 because of the MC. Most irritating protagonist I've ever seen.

Yes, I was pissed off at Yukki from Mirai Nikki for at least 90% of the show. Regardless, I finished it because I was more interested in the development of the other characters. I remember dropping Haruhi Suzimiya after like 3 episodes because she was unbearable for me. So I guess if other characters in the show are enjoyable, I can still watch it.

if the MC is the focus of the show ans they are god awful I probably wouldnt like the anime itself, so yes.

Pretty much but it happens rarely.

The two main guys in boku no hero academia I find annoying. I liked the girl though.

The MC in eureka seven is dense at times and makes it difficult to finish. Even if it gets better, it's a long series.

I like most MCs minus the generic ones.

If there are no other decent/good characters in that show, then yes

It can, for sure. But I'm just surprised what a guilty pleasure Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero was for me despite thinking the main character was a total douchebag from start to finish.

Depends how main they are. Both Izaya and Mikado are pretty main, though you don't see them ALL the time (didn't like neither).

I dislike most male MC in action shonen or harem series, and it generally doesn't ruin the show, as long as the other characters are OK.

The only MC that was close to ruin a show for me was Shirou, I found him so annoying that it was hard to keep on watching Fate/Stay Night.

It depends on how often an MC will interact with side characters. I don't like Naruto's design so it probably kept me from the show as a whole. Same for One Punch Man. I know, not a popular opinion but whatever.

Yes, if I dislike the MC enough then I’ll probably dislike the show. Where’s the pleasure of following the story that probably revolves around them a lot, if you could care less about them or even outright dislike them?

Even if my dislike for the MC is overwhelming I would still watch the series for the story or side characters. However if it becomes unbearable the only option is to call quits right?

As long as the show has an interesting cast of side characters, then It should be fine

I recently tried watching Magi, but my biggest problem (amongst a few other, smaller ones) lied with the main characters, and also the main reason for me to drop it.

Yeah, if an MC is an insufferable annoying twat (lookin' at you, Subaru), it can really hurt my enjoyment of an otherwise good show.

Yes, for example I dropped The Ancient Magus Bride because of the mc, she was so boring that I couldn't even focus on the story. They have to be really terrible to make me hate an anime because of them though, when it comes to multiple protagonists I can overlook one bad character.
