I like rap, but I'm not that familiar with it too much. I used to love Eminem's old rap songs rather than his new releases. Example was the Beautiful, Mockingbird, and Stan. Here in my country in Philippines, there're some good rappers out here but most of the raps by other artists was so cliche and consists of lyrics that makes no sense. |

I use to think it best thing like EVER until one day I, all of sudden grew up... Money, gunz, killing, hustlin, bitchez and niggaz got really old and disgusting really fast, considering apparently all of them had as it seems the same lives, what the point to listen to them other than their good instrumentals... And boom, here it comes Samurai Champloo by this time I already stopped listening to rap but Nujabes with his amazing stuff got me back and here I am now listing to underground rappers from time to time. Heres the thing if I hear nigga once that artist is dead to me, not because I'm PC and SJW, no its all about their hypocrisy. |

As with everything. I do have some exceptions, and with rap in particular, there are a handful or artists, albums, etc. That I can get down with, and I'm very open to trying just about anything. But Rap overall isn't a genre I'm particularly huge on, nor is it one that I like very much. |

Whoa! old thread, but more importantly, I prefer older rap music like Beastie Boys and stuff. |

It's one of the genres I'm least exposed to, for some unknown reason. I enjoy it as long as it has good rhythm, music, good voice, and even better when lyrics are good. I discovered Nujabes in recent times, and fell in love with his music, made me want to explore rap more - the underground or non-mainstream rap (though I enjoy even mainstream ones). I did a little bit of exploring from there and found a handful of favorites. I'm still trying to fish for good rap, hip-hop stuff which I'm sure is on youtube, but somehow the other music I listen to a lot more takes away my time. |

I like a little bit of rap, but not much. I'm pretty selective about rap, I like some early Eminem, Cypress Hill, Beastie Boys, NWA, etc. I typically prefer rap when it's mixed with rock music like LINKIN PARK. It's not my favorite genre personally. |

It's not music. It's slam poetry (to put it mildly) with some random riff looping in the background. |

It will never be my go-to music genre and I can't call myself a fan, but I like some stuff by The Roots and A Tribe Called Quest. I also enjoyed Childish Gambino. |

Rap can in no way be classified as music for its naught but blabbering. Black people have some of the best music like Jazz and Blues but somehow they chose to focus their talent on utter trash. It's a sad thing this world. |

Easily why rap blew up, it stopped with the gang heavy style (which alot of people didn't like, because it's about gangs) and more towards what people like: fame, money, jewellery, etc...Rap can in no way be classified as music for its naught but blabbering. Aesthetically, lyrical rap is relatable and mumble rap is melodic. Trap music supplements the dark atmospheres of the genre since most of the topics tend to be gang-activity/drug/money related. While it is easily one of the most accessible genre to any new rapper, people blow up and fade in a few weeks just from one song, but it still requires an eye for flows and what the people want. Have you heard of Young Thug? His voice is horrendous; but that's not the point. He has highs that no other rapper has, and the emotion shows in his singing, humming, and rapping. There is a study that shows it. |

They relax me and clear my mind, no other music would I ever pick for such dealings. Rock n' Roll is also a great type of music but it pales in comparison with the epic orchestral works. Add a tad bit of vocals to it and you are in for some mesmerizing experiences, especially so if the vocals in question are truly talented people with the ability to conquer their abilities. I've been harboring this wish inside me to procure myself a ticket for André Rieu' concert. I recommend you check out his "collaboration" with Anthony Hopkins on the fantastic piece called And The Waltz Goes On. He looks like Mel Gibson doesn't he? lol |

People who are into rap and hip-hop culture generally tend to be narrow-minded. That being said, I have only been drawn to music from mac miller, xxxtentacion and post malone (kinda) as of late. Their stuff seems to be more on the experimental side. |

So much r*tarded points of view on this thread, a reminder of how narrow-minded and lowkey racist (apparently the only good rappers are Eminem and Beastie Boys) are the weebs. Rap is a great genre that deserves as much respect as every other one. Weebs talking about how much "it only talkz abouut girlz sex drugs and monih heheheh" surely don't pay attention to old rock songs. Led Zeppelin (not only kings of plagiarism but also assured pedophiles -i'm looking at you, Jimmy Page-) AC/DC, Kiss, Aerosmith, Guns N' Roses have some of the most materialistic and dumb lyrics i've heard in a while, but they're praised as the best bands that ever existed by people who probably don't know a single shit about music. I mean look at this: Whole Lotta Love You need cooling Baby I'm not fooling I'm gonna send ya Back to schooling A-way down inside A-honey you need it I'm gonna give you my love I'm gonna give you my love Want to whole lotta love Want to whole lotta love Want to whole lotta love Want to whole lotta love You've been learning Um baby I been learning All them good times baby, baby I've been year-yearning A-way, way down inside A-honey you need-ah I'm gonna give you my love, ah I'm gonna give you my love, ah oh Whole lotta love Want to whole lotta love Want to whole lotta love Want to whole lotta love You've been cooling And baby I've been drooling All the good times, baby I've been misusing A-way, way down inside I'm gonna give ya my love I'm gonna give ya every inch of my love I'm gonna give ya my love Hey! Alright! Let's go! Whole lotta love Want to whole lotta love Want to whole lotta love Want to whole lotta love Way down inside Woman, you need, yeah Love My, my, my, my My, my, my, my Lord Shake for me girl I wanna be your backdoor man Hey, oh, hey, oh Hey, oh, hey, oh Ooh Oh, oh, oh, oh Cool, my, my baby A-keep it cooling baby A-keep it cooling baby Ah-keep it cooling baby Ah-keep it cooling baby Ah-keep it cooling baby I'm horny and i want to fuck a girl: the song. But because is sung by the epicky rockity rockers no one is going to complain But weebs and boomers like to talk about how women are being objectified in rap and reggaeton while they're listening to those artists. Hypocrites. That's it, i'm done. |

I used to be a huge rap head, recently I'm burnt out of it. New mainstream rap has always bored the shit out of me, most lacked the diverse and feels plain with no punch. Also artists has always talk about boobs sex and girls waay before rap was invented, and not all are the same. There are rap artists today keeping their prime style, tryna stand out of the crowd. Some are hit or miss. I'm starting into more of the instrumentals rather the lyrics. Now I mostly listen to alternative hip hop artists like FlyLo, MED, Madlib, and The Avalanchees. |

Hypocrites. That's it, i'm done. I'm not a fan of rap music but I wholeheartedly agree with this. All music genres -jazz, blues, rock, pop, reggae, punk, grunge- you name it, generally focus on romance and sex, maybe except for some subgenres of metal. Sex is an integral part of our lives, in fact not just for us, it's vital for all living beings. Also, since love is one of the most intense feelings we can get, it's only natural for musicians to focus on these feelings which obviously involves sex at the end. It's just the demeanour that makes the difference. Compared to other genres, rap might have more direct and vulgar appoarch on sex and romance. However, at the end of day, they all say the same thing: I want to fuck a girl. That's right. |
