I seriously don't know why do some people, me included, like Nora. There's something unique about her that makes me care about her. Anyone got any ideas how to explain it?

Well she's manipulative and verbally abusive, so I have no reason to like her.

she had that edge of not being fazed easily so she appeared almost infallible in s1 and in aragoto you can see that part of her get deconstructed. i noticed that i started liking her in aragoto because they were delving deeper into her character like i said before. also her weapon form is so cool

Nora is abusive and manipulative, but that's because she's learned from Father. She's a very mysterious character, that's for sure, but I don't think we have enough information to judge her yet.

Nora's not bad. She loves Yato but (theory) couldn't follow him when he left as she's bound to too many Gods and maybe even this Father guy. So she tried to bring him back.
Dont think she's going to be very sweet in the next season because she's no longer bound to Yato.

Who the fuck likes Nora?

I certainly don't

Well, browsing through the final episode's discussion thread I noticed at least a few people that expressed positive feelings towards her. I personally think she's got potential to be good. The greatest obstacle is obviously her attachment to Father, but I think she would prefer being treated as a person more than as a tool.

I started to like her when they helped Ebisu with Izanami.
She is making Noragami more intresting.

Nora is fantastic. But I can't really put my finger on why. Is it her design? Her otherworldly nature? Her relationship with Yato? All I know is I find her quite compelling. Of course I do like her controlling and manipulative nature, and I find her relationship with Yato fascinating. In all honesty, its probably a combination of all of the above.

Nora is meh at best.. She's a try hard character. Her relationship with Yatp is barely explored to the point where I couldn't care and all she does is cause shit to happen for no reason other than to have Yato's manhood

That's it

I think her character design and her overall mysteriousness makes me feel inclined to not hate her. Hating her would entail that I understand her history and why she acts the way she does. She's certainly a manipulative and abusive character like the user above mentioned, but since we don't really know much about her, it would be wrong for me to say that I hate her. That's why for the most part I'm kind of indifferent to her. I think how she acts is bad, but I don't hate her and I don't think she's a saint or like the necessary evil character either

As a manga reader, I don't think it's possible to judge Nora until you see her past with Yato. Someone mentioned that their relationship is barely explored. They teased it with Aragoto, but it's not resolved. In the manga, it's explained about 4-5 chapters after Aragoto ends, so you won't see that until the third season (if they release it).

The thing with this series is that you have to wait quite a bit to find out about people's backstories and their reasons for acting the way they do. So far, the only backstory we've had was Bishamon/Kazuma's, and we still had to wait until the second season to see it. If you think about it, the anime hasn't really explained many more backstories. Season 3 will show the pasts of a few characters, but there are still many things unexplained in the manga. That doesn't mean it's "left unexplained", it's just a slower bulid up. One of the first things Yato says is "don't just a person by how they look" and, in a sense, that's how the story works: you see a person acting a certain way, you hate them or think they're being irrational, and then they show your their past. Eg: many people hated Bishamon and Yukine (Yukine's past has still not been showed, but it also explains his behaviour). I believe it'll be a similar case with Nora.

Also, I'm still not sure what the question means: do we like Nora in the sense that we believe that there's a reason for her actions, that she's also controlled by Father and mistreated by Yato? Or do we like her in the sense that she's a good, interesting character?

I fail to see how she's an interesting character. I praise Noragami for having decent-amazing characters but Nora doesn't fit the bill. She reminds me of Lumina from Final Fantasy Lightning Returns.. The mysterious mischievous trope. Except in both situations it's not compelling nor interesting.. She herself is not interesting nor compelling but the people she 'used'. Rabo and Bishie's purifier. Even if you call them pawns to her they were more compelling in driving the story

She's not a bad character but just.. Okay I guess. The more she appears the more annoying she becomes

She does have an awesome design and is a very interesting character. Other than that she's a cunt. I really dislike her but I do admit she's important in the story. Also I agree it's not her fault she's a manipulative cold bitch, that's all she has learnt from Father and during her entire life she has been used for terrible jobs. People probably feel sorry for her and think she might change.

I hate her as a person, but I really like her as a character. Same for Father. I accomplish that she's a well written character and there to hate her.

My own interpretation: I think her being the bitch she is, is very interesting. That's her way to deal with Father's emotional abusiveness: To be abusive on her own, because she tries to keep her "brother".
Yato is the only person in her life she has a connection with or who is important to her. Instead of trying to get out of Father's hand with him, she wants to pull him back, because she doesn't know anything else in her life.
Of course, that's not an apology, because she could decide to act different, but well... that's the way I see her.
