Its latest volume sold almost 700k... It's popular, but not extraordinary so.
5 main aspects I base my ratings on:
1. Did DramaEnthusiast make a thread about it?
2. Is it better than Breaking Bad?
3. Did MellowJello recommend the shit out of it?
4. Has it caused a (very entertaining) shitstorm on MAL?
5. Is it actually good?

Scratch the fifth point, it's not very relevant...

Everyone knows that anything under One piece and SNK is not that popular. SNK is average. One piece is popular. The rest barely sell.

Anyway, why is TG still in like top 400 with every volume?

One Piece expectedly selling insanely well. Volume 79 nearing 3 million mark whilst still on list, quicker than the previous few volumes. Not surprising considering what happens in it. Expect volume 80 to do the same if not better since a certain 'Suicide' was in this volume I believe.

I hope Dagashi Kashi gets a good boost, already selling very well though. Hope someone over here licenses it but doubtful, not exactly an easy sell in NA which is the primary English language market.

like if i can buy it. the only way i can read it is scanlated online or buy it in my language (which is only around 1-4 US dollars, currency really killing).

Is it? Oh well then the sales of volume 79 make sense. Still plenty of godliness in volume 80 anyway.

Oh, this series made it top 5 this week? That surprises me somewhat.

Good to see Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun up there again in the top 10.
Season 2 when.

Um, it's been on there for 4 weeks now... Of course it's lower than series that just came in recently.

one piece doing the best, hope the new film boost the backlog sales a bit :(

I can see them doing an anime for this later this year :)

True and every series that sells under 1.5 million should be cancelled, even 500K+ is a dead series.
Why they are keeping them around is beyond me.

I think/hope Arcanix's comment is just sarcastic. Also I think the Movie will boost the backlog sales heavily, its getting advetised heavily and will get advertised even more I think. Also its a new movie after 4 years and the amount of volumes One Piece has helps the backlog sales aswell.

I was dead serious. Ichii is right. They should cancel everything and just sell SNK and One piece.

*8 *,131,745 Tokyo Ghoul:re (東京喰種:re)

Other 4 volume selling 35k. That's pretty good. Volume 4 was boosted in top 100 for some reason (if i remember right).

Where are Ansatsu's huge backlog sales coming from, is it from the movie promotion?
And we don't typically see a second season help this much as it's doing with Haikyuu

A bit of an increase in the third week sales for the 5th volume.

*7. *,*84,610 *,714,601 Tokyo Ghoul:re Vol.3
*9. *,*76,907 *,694,142 Tokyo Ghoul:re Vol.4
*7. *,*98,661 *,712,896 Tokyo Ghoul:re Vol.5

Yeah I can definitely see this volume crossing over 1 million as well.

Not really sure but I think it might be because of the anime's rebroadcast that has been happening for a while.

Unlikely to happen since the boost is already slowing down. All the the previous volumes are starting to drop down the top 100 so I expect volume 10 to sell somewhere between 850-900k by the end of the year.

TG increase I guess it had to do with Kanekis return, The japs like the edge for some reason.

OP Vol 79 back in the Top 50.

AssClass with nice sales in the first week and their backlog sales are strong as well.

OPM wont hit the million mark unless Season 2 comes, or let MH pull a Pierrot and go full anime original for Season 2, HEY it worked with Tokyo Ghoul lol.

TG, AssClass and NNT sales will be very close.

For the last 2, they have strong backlog sales imo.

It's still really popular though and getting close to Tokyo Ghoul lvl of popularity is no easy feat.

I'm really dumbfounded on how some people believe 700K plus isn't considered really popular. Lots of series could wish they reach that level of popularity. Heck selling even 500K is really fucking good too.

depends on what ur target audience is...

some manga dont need to sell 500k to be considering selling well if its just a shoujo thats barely detailed. take that out of ur head that manga has to sell a crazy number to be considering selling well. people forgot there are 100s of factors before looking at just numbers.

OPM in the west has this false sense of being the best anime/manga that is super popular. its just popular. its selling good. but no where near what ppl are making it out to be.

Anything thats sells more than 500k per vol is doing a damn good job. OPM may become a 1 mil per volume seller, also, its backlog sales are doing amazingly well considering only 3 vol were released last year.

It's 48 on the list...
Yeah because the sales from this past week for it didn't sell that much but in total it's 700,000

People should not measure these titles with One piece. They always see "Oh One Piece sells 3 million per copy " and then think every series thats under a million is not successful.

Tokyo Ghoul doing good.
Vol. 2 must be on the million copies sold already.

Which is dumb, when its only a few series can actually reach that mark. Assclass and Tokyo ghoul are the two new series that has sold over 1 million. So a series reaching the 1 million mark is very rare. Only persons that are new to these sales chart list would think that tbh.
