Kanojo to Kanojo no Neko was originally created in 1999, with a final version released in 2002. The short OVA won the 12th DoGA CG Animation Contest in 2000. Makoto Shinkai produced the OVA alongside music composer Tenmon.
Very surprising news. Who knew Shinkai's short from years ago would get a TV short? Looking forward to it, and I hope they use the same tone/atmosphere as the original did. It was only 5 minutes but it was quite emotional.
I'm no special story or anything. I'm just a manga that wants to be read, like you could find anywhere. But, if, for argument's sake, you were to adapt me into an anime series, it would certainly be....a tragedy.
-The Tokyo Ghoul/Tokyo Ghoul:re manga, if they could talk
That doesn't make much sense. The original was good because how it was done. Changing the length, animation or adding characters won't improve it, it will make it something completely different. I think it would be more accurate that they are making something just inspired by the original OVA. Shinkai and Tenmon are not even working on it damn it. As much as I like Hanazawa in some of her roles, her voice really doesn't suit something like that.
Feels like someone wants to ride on Shinkai's name and I'm surprised he agreed to that.
