So yeah.. What's the most awkward conversation you've been in?

A couple hours ago a group of my friends and myself were talking about how some characters in animes have some giant sexual impulse thing going on (i.e. School Days). It was a pretty funny conversation until we started talking about actual people we know who had the same problems, and before we knew it one of our friends was talking about her father... and it just got really awkward.. Mostly because she didn't even realize what she was talking about >.>

I'm a walking awkward conversation. I purposely say something odd, not relevant to the conversation, only make facial gestures, or say one liners to see how the other will react. My friends caught on and now do this to me whenever I try being serious with them haha

An example, I suppose, was a friend who was telling me some class problems. All I did was stare elsewhere until she blurted out I wasn't even paying attention; to which, I said word by word everything she had told me.

Welcome to my daily life.

But if you want any specific examples, one conversation in particular happened at an anime convention last year. I was looking at all the Code Geass merchandise on Bandai's table in the Dealer's Room when this obnoxious fan came up behind me and started talking to me about the show. Not only was the conversation awkward because I was only 6 eps into the series and he finished it, but there was also a Bandai representative sitting in front of me listening to the whole thing. I didn't want him to know that I was watching the episodes online >_<! I couldn't run away from the table fast enough.

My parents got around that one by taking me to an after school presentation at my elementary school. They had cookies and OJ.

Well, this was a conversation between two friends of mine but I happened to be present at the time (we were in a store and they were talking as I was looking through a clothes rack).

To provide a bit of background, Friend A had just recently come out of the closet as a gay guy. Friend B had only found out from me earlier that day. When Friend B and I were walking around the mall, we bumped into Friend A and decided to hang out for a bit together.

Friend B: So, how was it telling your parents? Was it ok?
Friend A: Well, it was a bit painful because, well, you know...the stretch...
Friend B: ..........what?
Friend A: Wait, what are we talking about again?
Friend B: How you told your parents about being gay..?
Friend A: OH! Sorry, I thought we were talking about the time I lost my virginity.
Me and Friend B: WHAT.

Working in a nursing home also provides for some awkward conversations. My favourite was the time an old lady complimented my boobs and then proceeded to gesture towards my chest and say, "Nice and round!"

Definitely. But sometimes, rather than awkward, it can be seriously funny and entertaining. Specially when they're trying to explain to you something that you have already done.

Awkward? Rather than everyday conversations I think situations are what happen more to me. Like a person you don't know greets you and stretches your hand and you are left like WTF!? It has happened the other way around as well.

LOL. My grandmother does the same thing whenever she sees me. And then sometimes my parents ask why I don't see her often... It should be self-explanatory.

Lol @ Aeterna. I had some lady do that to me before. She was like... such a lovely size! not to big or small. Then just grinned at me. I ran away. >_>

But I had an awkward one with a friend. It was totally normal and then suddenly he was like Oh gawd I love so much. D; And I just gawked.
He tends to make my heart beat. <3

My mum tried to give me 'the talk' a month ago, knowing that I already knew everything that she was saying, and then offered to take me to the doctor so that I could be put on the pill so that I could have sex with my boyfriend (I thought parents were supposed to discourage this?).
For the record, I don't even have a boyfriend; she thought I was going out with my closest guyfriend :L

You're lucky to have such a responsible and caring mum, be glad.

I never had "The Talk" myself. I had a different kind of talk, though, that was on an entirely different subject that was just as important.

I was given a book on my eleventh birthday on how my body is going to go through all sorts of changes as I got older...yadda yadda yadda. What an awesome B-day present.

Actually this makes me laugh, when I was about 10, I gave my mum 'the talk' after experiencing a sex education class in primary school. I still remember the awkward expression on face on the walk back home as I tried to explain what I'd been taught, haha.

Me neither..

Two of my close girl-friend ended up loving eachother . A huge chaos got created as me and my other close firends saw them kissing . We all got pissed at them (dont judge ok! I was like in 9th grade^^). We actually had an intervention (lord i was lame) . Cudnt bear ignoring them hence took the step to talk about it .
Talked to one of them 1st as the other one was just too shy . It turned into such a awkward conversation that we both started laughing but the convo went better than i anticipated.

When I was sitting in the hospital waiting for my X-Ray results. Co-incidentally, my seat was right in front of the Ultrasound room.

Nurse 1: Oh yes you're the one with the X-Ray?
Me: Yes.
Nurse 1: Age?
Me: 16
(Nurse 2 just walked past)
Nurse 2 (practically screams): Oh my god, she's pregnant?
Me: ....
Everyone in the area: ....
Nurse 1 (whispers): No...

I felt the eyes on me walking all the way down the hall.

so I was on an airplane, and had to use the bathroom, luckily there was one that wasn't occupied. So, I walked to the back to use the loo and open the door. shit, there's a blonde girl on the toilet.. she locked the door behind me. the most awkward thing was afterward when she came out to head back to her seat-
Me: "I'm so sorry!"
Her [trying to squeeze by me and avoid the conversation]: "it's okay, it's okay...no, really..let's not talk about it!"

I had 'the talk' with my son (at 13), I kinda wish he would sound more interested :)

it wasn't so much awkward, as it was something of a let down.

I think when I see him bring home a girl, I'll give it another go. If he reaches 18 first, well he won't need my help by that point.
While not technically anime, currently I am a big fan of Hatsune Miku.
At least I can go see her in concert.

I would rather have a board game than a book. At least it would make the situation feel less awkward. The cute illustrations didn't help, either.

Any time I talk about religion with my one friend who has recently become a holy roller. She changed church denominations and got into this really spiritual church while I'm more old fashioned, so it's always awkward when she explains her experiences and whatnot to me.

As for the puberty talk....I got it in fifth grade, but they didn't really talk about it much. They just gave us a pamphlet and a pad to try out, and then had us watch a movie. I didn't end up getting mine till 7th grade though, so I had forgotten most of what they told us by then. I just remember freaking out and having my mom explain that I was getting my period soon and that was that.

We had a sort of sex awareness class freshman year of high school. The only thing I remember learning was that condoms were not a sure fire way to keep from getting pregnant and the fact that I thought it was amusing that the lady who was teaching us was not married.

One time when I was hanging around in a friends room and he was checking his e-mails and there were a few spam for penis enlargements and porn.
