Mizuki Shigeru's Manga Tono Monogatari To Be Animated

According to Anime!Anime!, an anime movie of Mizuki Shigeru's manga "Mizuki Shigeru no Tono Monogatari" will be premiered on April 24th, 2010 at Tono City Museum.

Tono Monogatari was originally a Japanese folklorist Yanagida Kunio's classical literature based on the oral traditions of Tono city. It's about Yokai such as Tengu, Kappa, and Zashikiwarashi. Mizuki Shigeru started the serialization of the manga series in 2008 when he was 86 years old.

It sounds interesting. I have always wanted to hear the folklore and traditions behind the Yokai, so I will probably end up watching it, assuming that is what the movie is about.

Great news. I haven't heard of Mizuki-sensei until a couple of years ago, when I stumbled upon his biography, and I was really impressed. He is an exceptional person. I'm really looking forward to the movie.

i remember mizuki's manga when my friend showed it too me. it was pretty interesting so ill watch this movie =].

Yup I'll give it a try. It's always an interesting subject, even if the realization somehow turns wrong, you know you can't go wrong with the atmosphere and background tales.

i kinda dig this stuff :o its like totally bad that there aint much translated japanese folklore and classic novels available in other languages. thats like another conspiracy or whatever and stuff going on against me
