Think of it this way: otaku that wanted to buy a battle harem this season could choose between three of them. Maybe if there was only one battle harem, it could have potentially gotten all the buyers. I know it's not that simple, but instead of 3 series doing poor-->average, we could have had one that did great. |

Nah, moodie is right, you have no concept of the anime market if you think 3k+ sales for one volume is bad these days. On average, more than ~3.5k disc sales for one volume of a 12 episode cour (assuming 2 episodes per volume) is profitable. Unless it is like UBW budget levels, most anime studios would be content with that. Even if you sell less than that weekly, like 70% of anime eventually profit. But 3.5k+ sales per volume is easily enough for a reasonably budgeted show to profit. You're also failing to realize that for Rakudai and other late-released shows (not sure about Asterisk and Antimagic), the Oricon list this week only seems to be including Amazon Japan sales, as Rakudai's sales match the predicted Stalker points almost exactly (which are largely based on Amazon Japan pre-orders). So they likely aren't including the brick and mortar sales it sold out at, or CDJapan and Amiami, or the restock, etc due to having only a couple days to grab data. Not only that, but that's 3.2k Amazon sales in only 3 days, not even a full week, while short-stocked. In all likelihood, Rakudai probably pushed more than 4k disc sales in that first 3 days, and could likely get above ~5k discs by the end of its first week this Friday. If it continues to sell reasonably well, Silver Link will have more than turned a profit on it. Asterisk isn't doing great, but it will probably sell enough to turn a profit as well (though I haven't been following it so I'm not sure). You're insane if you think studios just pump out material without intent to profit. |

| Love Live! is #1 again for the 2nd year in a row in the COSPA (survey) cosplay sales ranking. Not surprising, considering 43.4% of the Love Live! fanbase is female (30.5% are of age 15 to 19). Shingeki no Kyojin's fanbase is 48.1% female (11.9% are of age 15 to 19).
