If you watch Bokurano, it will become much more clearer. Bokurano is basically (spoiler ahead) about kids having to fight and sacrifice their lives, being something like tricked into this by a mascot type being as well. One chair per one child, 15 in total. Madoka was heavily inspired by Bokurano, thus the reference in the anime itself. |
