I think you mean to say that nothing at a BA level is worth the sour end of a pig squirt. To be considered even somewhat competent in physics (assuming you're an engineer because hurr engineers need to know mechanical physics) a masters is required to be taken seriously, anything else and you need a Ph.D to be taken seriously. A BA in chem won't even get you a paying job in most labs, unless they're paying undergrads to assist real chemists. |

Currently majoring in IT, which is a business degree. Going into the major as a programmer for business solutions (which basically means tons of Java). This is my 4th year, 2nd year at my university (I was a transfer student from the neighboring community college which I still attend). It won't be my last year, but the final year I'll be in college (next year), I won't be attending the full year. I'm currently in the process of having my application bounced around different HR departments of a large telecommunications company to see who has a position locked in for a software engineer. In the meantime, I may work for the IT company off-campus to make a little extra. |

Gov said: Made some changes You put Aerospace Engineering in the top tier, presumably because of the difficulty involved in aerodynamics, but Civil Engineering three levels lower even though it includes fluid hydraulics and turbulence. Pfff. Then you put business further up the scale even though business is the subject people take when they have no idea what they want to study but reckon they should at least study something. Personally I have more respect for people who study literature than business because at least then are doing something with substance (if not utility). Anyway there are a few other things missing: quantity surveying, town planning, construction management, structural engineering, mining engineering. Just came up with these thinking about the other subjects they do within my faculty. I reckon they are all mid-low tier except the ones with 'engineering' in the name. |

Even if I manage to secure a company position, I'm going to be moped around by executives and project leaders. I've seen it first hand working as an intern. Schedules are near impossible to complete, requiring you to work for insane hours with little to no benefits. Most start-ups are a joke, and you have no guarantee of a long term position. But yeah, I'll get through until I graduate. My parents would kill me. |
