 It was announced at a conference that Makoto Shinkai will be directing a new movie titled Kimi no Na wa. (Your Name.) The movie will premiere in August 2016. Mitsuha, a high school girl living in the countryside, wants to live in the city because she is tired of life in the country. Then, there's Taki. He's a high school student living in Tokyo with his friends while working as a part-timer at an Italian restaurant. He also has a strong interest in fine arts involving architecture. One day, Mitsuha dreams of herself as a young man. On the other hand, Taki also has a dream where he is a female student attending high school in the countryside. | I enjoyed one of this recent works, Kotonoha no Niwa. If he can keep up with something similar to that then I'll be satisfied. Looking forward to it, at the very least, we'll get some nice visuals. |

| Watched Kotonoha no Niwa two days ago. Turned out rather enjoyable. Still I usually hate the romance/love genre so it's kind of a shame to see such talent and stunning visuals being used in YET ANOTHER romance flick. *sighs* |

| In all honesty, I love Makoto Shinkai. But if I wanna watch something like 5cm/sec, I'll go watch 5cm/sec, know what I mean? We've already got a sappy love story about 2 young adults that doesn't lighten up, shouldn't there be other stories that he can tell? I thought when Children Who Chase Lost Voices came around, Makoto Shinkai will try different things from that point on. He doesn't even have to shoot too far from his usual story. I'd kill for a Makoto Shinkai film about maternal love or paternal love. He can still have his bitter-sweet ending but it would be interesting for someone like him to tackle on oddly one of the least talked about topics in anime. I know eventually I'd still watch this and probably wouldn't get it off my head for like a week but for Pete's sake man, try something else. Me when I'm watching it (maybe)  |
