what's your go to method for studying? ie. rewriting notes, highlighting notes, flashcards, not studying until the night before and crying your eyes out, etc.

finals are next week, so i want to learn some helpful studying methods/tips...

i personally rewrite my notes, study with friends, and highlight my notes c:

Going over every problem shown in the lectures, then crying. After hanging my notes up to dry, I work on examples problems again until I magically understand it. Then I ace the final xD

do you guys just skim the textbook modules/chapters, or actually read it thoroughly? and yeah, best of luck to everyone with finals next week/this week!

i have an A- in psych, so i'm debating if i should really take the final or not.. but an A does sound nicer than an A- tho :|

I normally don't. Sometimes if I think a class is actually moderately challenging instead of a free A I will though.

Usually I don't if I think I grasp the material just fine but when I study I set aside a couple of hours everyday well before the test. I don't like to cram or overdo it.

I focus on the things I knew well, and make sure I dont forget that.....well for physics anyways, since that final is gonna be a killer~

I read the text carefully, highlight the important stuff and then make notes to summarize.
Good luck on your exams! Thankfully mine take place in January so I have ample time; the amount of stuff I have to learn is overwhelming though lol.

i never studied at home. not even really at school. i only finished like 1/10th of the work i should have done each year, never made it past the first 2 chapters in any study book each year. which every class had 2 books each year.

i do admit i did the 2nd lowest education level possible cause i was way too lazy to put any efford into anything.

I firstly take coherent notes of everything using coloured pens. I try not to summarise it too much because it tends to not be sufficient. I find that coloured notes help with memorisation as well as understanding + mentally picturing chunks of info.
after doing so,.. I walk up and down my room reading things over and over and that's memorisation done. Additionally, I'll make posters (again - colourful ones) of things I could potentially forget. for memorisation, I don't do flash cards or whatever they are called... it does not work out for me. but I plan to use them differently soon. by writing a question on one side and the answer on the other.
Other than memorising crap. I like to use past exam papers if available for actual application to help with understanding.

Go over the lecture notes the profs put up online while I follow along in my notebook. I stop at things that don't make sense to me, and spend an hour trying to figure it out. If it doesn't make sense, I email the prof. I write down in my notebook stuff I may have missed or written down incorrectly.

Go over all HW and comparing answers with the ones given by prof/TA.

Work on all practice finals.

I'm on the quarter system, so most things are pretty much review when finals come around since we only have a 5 week gap in between midterms and finals.

If it involves problem solving I just keep solving all available problems related to the topic
If it involves memorization, I make a personal summary sheet. Writing helps you memorize.

Oh, and don't forget to procrastinate heavily. Effectivity guaranteed.

I suck at remembering stuff , however I am great at UNDERSTANDING things. So when I studied I slowly read through all my notes around 4 weeks before exam and usually took one week to write out all my notes with explanations for everything often with a little story to go with it.

Then I went and read through it and my notes again just a little bit faster.

On the third time I marked all the notes of things that I was guaranteed not too forget even within a year from now.

And then I focused the remaining time on drilling everything left into my thick skull.

For Math, practice practice practice till you can recite the solution in your head.
Physics, flashcards are essential (for me) to remember important formulas and derivations. Chemistry requires a lot of memory, especially theory portions.
I don't study for computers and english though since they require almost no preparation.

Don't use notes or flash cards or highlighted cards. Just do it old fashion studying, or cheat (This is your best bet if you're on last minute studying). As for myself, I don't need to revise anything since I'm too intellectual for those exams.

First of all, leaving this page for a while :P

But anyway, I usually sumarize all units in a word doc or something and study them from there.
As for exercises (math, physics, etc)... GO SOLVE THAT PROBLEMS!! ALL OF THEM!! NOW!! These things are only learnt by practice.

Only 2 disciplines? I'm doing 4 damn it. They all fall under business though.

EDIT: I literally fucked up in the Management Studies exam. Economics and Accounting were straightforward.
