ARRRRRG. Horrible horrible ending. Besides nothing making sense Suou's whole 'happy end' just pissed me off. Damn girl. It's a shame it ended so badly since I thought the episodes from when they arrived in Japan were actually good and entertaining, especially compared to the first few. There was also August randomly appearing. If he was alive he should have showed up more instead of leaving me with the boring main characters >_>
Just because of the ending I'm rating this a 5/10.

And what is with this pose? Completely random.

.... WTF-episode ... so many questions are not answered and many more questions arise... another 12 episodes maybe would have helped...

why did BK-201 star appear again?
did hei kill yin?
how can the ppl on the new planet have memories if they dont have meteor cores(i mean they are all copies)
why does suo's contrator weapon appear out of the meteor core?
what did the meeting of izanagi and izanami change? (the new world was created before!?)
why does yin have those new abilities?
where the hell did the magician-contrator appear from? (he was dead was'nt he?)
against what did this guy fight in order to have his shirt ripped apart and have a weapon in his hands? ( http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h6/ServentArcher/unknown/BSS_Darker_Than_Black_-_Gemini_of_t.jpg ) rambo ftw <,<

im totally confused now ...

I agree, WTF! Most of this episode made sense until hei met yin. After that i dont know what happened. I thought suou's dad died (even though dieing from a leg injury made no sense). This season was alot worse than S1 bc I did not understand the whole Yin thing and Yin was barely in this. I also dont get what Shion and them were trying to accomplish.

A Season 3 would be nice, but because of the way Season 2 ended, it's not required. It felt sort of rushed, and some in depth explanations are needed here and there, but overall it was very enjoyable to watch. Ultimately, I suppose we're supposed to pity Suou because she'll be living a life always knowing that she's missing something. I wouldn't say it's a solid end, but it certainly was effective. 10/10

Even if there is a 3rd Season, something tells me that no relevant question to this Season will ever be answered... Bones is gay pro like that.

im totally confused now ...

1.His star appeared again because the meteor core broke I guess
2.I think he killed Yin...or maybe just one of the yins.Maybe this was a a necessity for the birth of the new world
3.I think that Izanami transfered their memories or somethink like that
4.Maybe the meteor core defines her power as a contractor. She became a contractor after the core was activated.Maybe the core absorbed hei's powers or something
5.I think this will be explained in the ova's
6.I don't think he was dead.He is called the magician, isn't he?Or maybe shion made a clone of him...
7.Against CIA I think...

S2 was shit. I was hoping for a decent ending since I pretty much hated the entire season but I got nothing.

Pretty disappointed with this series... It was still fairly good, but took away a lot of what I liked from the first series (mostly by moving Hei to a secondary role) and added stuff I didn't like (mostly by moving Suou, who I never felt attached to, into the main role). Still, I am interested in the DtB universe, I'll be looking forward to the OVAs + S3.

waaaaaa...i demand a better endin but at least Hei got his powers back. But I'll give season2 8/10 rating ^^ Lookin forward to the OVAs maybe those will explain few things I'm still confused about and of course I wouldn't mind season 3 ^^

Another not making sense ending from Darker than Black, why am i not surprised.
I never understood what the hell happened at the end of the first season and am probably not gonna understand this ether.
Two earth's and a boy Yin? WTf was that, Yin and Shion in one? And Suou is in what planet? Isn't her, losing her memories sad? And what did Hei meant when he told her they will always be together.
Am starting to think that DtB will never have a simple ending.
And the most important of all, we STILL have no idea where the hell did those gates come from and what are they. Two seasons and we don't understand anything about them. We don't know how they work what exactly they are, nothing.
I don't know what to think about this episode because i don't even have any idea how it will fit with whatever Bones is trying to accomplish with this series. I just hope they aren't trolling us.

This last episode was also a bit up there for me. But then anime rarely has simple endings. Well, they definitely left DtB wide open for a sequel (or prequel). I'm looking forward to an announcement soon (hopefully).

What just happened? I'm confused and this episode was so rushed! It looked like there was a lot of action going on everywhere but we didn't get to see any of it. And there were three Yins and Shion copied the earth(?).. Derp. Season three.

Awesome. Wasn't as action packed as the first, but not as bad as everyone made it seemed. I was definitely waiting every friday to get a peak at the next episode. Here are my final observations:

Madame Oreille...there is so much about her

-her blond hair
-her hazel/amber eyes(which are hidden behind glasses most of the time)
-the sultry way she talks to people
-her weird out of place clothing

could she be...

Since a new gate is open doesn't that equal = new contractors? Correct me if I'm wrong, I guess were already set up for another season.

I didn't actually see Hei get his powers back...maybe I missed something. I could really care less if he gets them back(I'm guy so I don't care about the whole Hei/Misaki/Suou/Yin love square XP) plus Hei can still fight and take down contractors with little to no hassle.

I really hoped the doctor made a clone of April too. She was my favorite character <3 and I missed April x July! I was upset that he didn't mention anything about her the whole season. Maybe because he knows she's alive, hidden somewhere?! (wishful thinking)

well it's been fun. bring on the new good guys and baddies. see ya when the stars come out DTB

Ending does leave some questions. Like if there is a 2nd world, what happens with the previous one? The twins mentioned another gate, so what will be going on with that and is that placed on the 2nd world (b/c you see the "2nd Syndicate" fly off)?

But overall it was ok, definitely not as good as the S1. Suou really annoyed me, especially in the beginning. The whole "I don't want to kill/I want to save people and see no one get hurt" character type turns me off. Hopefully the OVA ties up some of the loose ends.

7.5/10....I'll be generous and round it 8/10

Total wtf ending. I hate them cliffhangers.
We all want one but a season 3 will just drag the series down.
We don't know wether Hei's killed Yin yet. Everyone else has gone back to the 'other' world. Hei's whereabouts are again, as usual, left. Lets hope there's a bonus ending scene at the end of the OVAs showing somethin like Suou, late for school, runs to the bus stop and passes Hei, turns around but could not quite remember who he was, smiles and turns back.

8/10

The best thing which happened in the entire series was Hei's shave and haircut.

SERIOUSLY BONES, WHAT THE FUCK WAS THIS SHITTY EVANGELION-WANNA-BE ENDING????? D:< D:< D:< D:< D:<

You better not screw up season 3. >< Wait I have a better idea, Darker than Black Season 2 does not exist, so there's not need for a third season.

I don't even have any final thoughts left about this series. 5/10 for superior action sequences but that's all.

Hei has a habit of lying about how he'll always be there with Suou in this episode and Yin in the ovas. Wikipedia contains this little profile thing about Shion and if it's true, it explains what was up with the whole "new world" thing.

In the penultimate use of these powers, he links to the Doll Network, which has cataloged all the thoughts of all the people on earth, and creates a copy of the entire planet, minus the gates. This renders him paraplegic. He gives his life to Izanagi in exchange for send Suou and July to the Earth copy, where they can live happily. With his last words, he calls Suou his sister.

Meh.. The ending was confusing at first, but after reading these posts and watching it subbed, I don't think it was outright terrible. I liked this episode.

I enjoyed the second half of the season and I liked the (underdeveloped) side characters, but this wasn't the Darker than Black I signed up for. The atmosphere from season 1 was completely gone.

It was a waste to spend the whole season developing Suou. I liked her and all, but.. you know.. She wasn't Hei.

But yeah, even though it was a disappointment, I still enjoyed it. I'm still looking forward to the OVA/Season 3. 7/10.

LOL at people comparing this ending to EoE.

It has been accurately explained multiple times already in this discussion topic, and yet people are still going wtf? Anyways, I thought it was a good ending to the series and can't wait for the OVA. I don't know why, but I enjoyed S2 more than S1. Probably due to the fact they actually chose to explain stuff this time around.

8/10

Like season 1 had a perfect ending. Season 1 didn't make much sense ether. So what is the problem?
Also it seems kind of funny how all the people complain about Suou but if she was in the first season, people would have had a different opinion. It's the "can't except or love as much new characters that am not used to" gene in full affect inside people minds.

Season 1 didn't make that much sense, no, but it was a whole lot more satisfactory than this.
As for Suou.. No she'd be as annoying if she was in the first season too. Just don't like her character.

It was entertaining despite (or thanks to, lol) the messy plot. The first season was more solid, though - no doubt about it. I'm giving this a 6/10 at the moment.

understood it, minus the covert agency bullcrap... or maybe I'm just distracted by Misaki's hotness...

even though I understood what was happening, I'm still confused as to the point of it all. They weave such a complex storyline, copy the earth, and did all this..... why? The best I can muster is some kind of "treasure your humanity" message.... but it feels unsatisfying. Judging by the other comments, I'm probably not the only one who feels like something's missing.

I am a banana.

wow this was way too short and confusing. it's like at the end what just happened? Shion's wish and everything wasn't all that clear or what was happening with July or Suou or even how August 7 was back and didn't do anything. We didn't even get to see Mina fight Genma or Misaki ever get to talk to Hei. I mean I liked it but it was certainly lacking.... there had better be another season. 12 was just way too short.

Here what I understood ( i think ) :
- The second earth is not a real earth from what i understood, we see it disapear at the end.
- Suou and july are dead for sure ( they wont come back from the other world ). After all the characther developement on these two its sad we wont see them again.
- Hei is still alive and got is power back =D
- Yin is dead ? not sure yet.
- A new contractor or doll that can absorb everyone's souls appeared.
- Kirihara and Mao working together for the new "Syndicate".
- New characther : August 7 http://myanimelist.net/character/26650/August_7
- The weirdo is dead, and Maybe mina Hazuki too.
- New gates appeared...
- There will be a third season !!
- Flying cars !!! :O

And what I did not understood :
- Why was there two Yin ?
- Is one of them alive ?
- Flying Cars ??? :O

Oh and stop saying this ruined season 1 because you did not understand...
It was still very good ! 10/10 from me !

The ending was pretty good, and made sense... No idea why people are having trouble understanding it... The only bit thats slightly confusing is about yin, which will most likely be explained in the OVA.

This season was slightly better then the first, 9/10.

The real major complain everyone should have is this ending's way too rushed. This show could have deserved something like 24/26 episodes, to get a little more action (like the fight between Hazuki and Shizume, Bones's animation would have been great for that), and a little more explanations on some of the (many) unanswered questions. It feels a nice ending for this season, but not really a good ending for the whole DTB licence.

I'm looking forward to the OVAs to understand better what happened exactly with Yin.

After just re-watching S1 this season and this episode wasn't as good as I expected.
When Suou died I didn't feel sorry for her or anything, I did feel sad when July died he was so awesome this season.

8/10 but honestly what did I like about it? Hei and Mao only (and badass BM)... they introduced new characters that I didn't care about, annoying main character, ruined a nice character by making her a stalker... sigh

Hmm anyway, will probably rewatch it some time later and reconsider my score.

@Tabrisrp - Couldn't agree with you more. The series really would have benefitted from an additional episode as there was too much crammed in the finale. Still, the second season was very enjoyable. If they ever decide to do more, that would be great. In the meantime, I can't wait for the OVAs.

I wont accept this annoying loli story, Pinker than Pink: Ryuusei no Gemini with Hei as side character as a sequel to Darker than Black. As a stand-alone title it deserves 5/10 for massive plotholes, but for what the authors have done to awesome action-adventure title with deep characters I give it 2/10. (Call, me a troll or whatever you like, this title is the biggest dissapointment I've ever had in anime)
