You mean the second season boost? Most anime don't get that. Still, Noragami's old volumes have been appearing in he top 500 in shosekiranking, so it's a good sign.

As for volume 15 sales, this one comes with a limited edition so sales will be lower. We'll have to wait till next week or so to see any signs of a boost.

Fab to see Fairy Tail up there yet again and Zerø selling well also. Even better. Diamond no Ace continuing to sell into it's second part and Terra Formars still very strong.

13. 101,111 *,101,350 Hajime no Ippo Vol.112

To keep going for that long and to still achieve incredible sales like Ippo does is amazing. Series still as good as ever.

112 volumes. Holy crap. I've seen all of the anime but according to Mangaupdates it only covers about half of what's out right now.

I might read it some point but the length sure is daunting. Wouldn't be too surprised to see another anime adaptation down the line either.

No, Bleach may be at Fairy Tail's level now if not lower, Fairy Tail has way better legs than Bleach

Is the yearly list coming out next monday?
5 main aspects I base my ratings on:
1. Did DramaEnthusiast make a thread about it?
2. Is it better than Breaking Bad?
3. Did MellowJello recommend the shit out of it?
4. Has it caused a (very entertaining) shitstorm on MAL?
5. Is it actually good?

Scratch the fifth point, it's not very relevant...

a great manga that has been going for almost 40 volumes already being outsold by a newbie. its very frustrating to see it go on that route. it should have been more successful naruto/bleach level at their prime.

Honestly it's not that bad to read. IIRC Rising ends at like chapter 500-550 (/1120 ish) although the anime skips lots/ does it in different orders (Kamogawas flashback should have happened at the end of New Challenger, not Rising - doesn't change anything though). The fight chapters are almost entirely action panels with little text so it takes like a minute to read a chapter. Comparing to Medaka Box which I recently read, it took me longer to get through the last 120 chapters of Medaka Box (which is one of the most text based mangas I've read) than 500< of Ippo. Definently read it, some great fights there.

Anyway, I'm a bit disappointed in Terraformars not taking 1st, that cover was one of the best too, would have been nice to see at the top. Can't take anything away from Kuroshitsuji though, I've only watched the first season but plan to watch the Book arcs and read it eventually.

Toriko had it's chance and blew it. So the newbie blowing it away is only good for business.

Would bnha still be as popular if toei did the anime and the designs were like one piece then toned down all the action, shtty animation after a while and ended it in a shtty anime original? and don't forget the horrible marketing of the series as well.

Yes because the anime would boost higher, it's already way more popular than pre anime Toriko, the one piece cross promotion would just push it higher.....

The answer is no, cause the promotions would anger the casuals and they start hating on the series cause it got a spot next to one piece while others didn't.
They wouldn't even bother reading the manga cause the anime is sht and why the manga be different right?
And all the special treatment they think it has will drive even more people away.
Sucks that toriko had to be the one to take all that to make them realize that :(

That is totally false. There was no casuals angered and hating Toriko in Japan. You just heard about hate here in the West because a lot of people felt Bleach was threatened because the BIG 3, and that the promotion with One Piece was forced(When in fact it wasn't).

One Piece designs are Toei animation style, and those designs are really liked. Gash Bell also got Toei Designs and was super popular(more than Toriko), so that is totally not a reason.

Action being toned down has no effect in anime popularity(or are you saying that the violence and gore was the only thing going in them?), specially anime made and aired in a kid slot, Toriko anime was quite popular even!
In reality toning down stuff would give a bigger incentive to the anime fans to go for the manga, and given the popularity of the anime(in terms of people watching) it should increase it a lot.

Toriko animation is basically the same as One Piece. One Piece reached 2.52 Million copies printed per volume and increasing by its 3rd year of animation, with that animation! Toriko didn't came any closer.

Ending in a shitty anime original, means nothing(And the anime original wasn't shitty). That happened on the 3rd year of the series. A series establishes its main "after anime" fanbase around the Half year or One year run of he Series. Toriko manga got a pretty good manga boost even. Similar or better than Shokugeki no Soma and Prison School.
Also they ended it because the series other factors from TV Series were in decline and other series(Dragon Ball) were doing way, way better.

Marketing wasn't horrible at all. The series got 2 Jump Specials OVA, got a Crossover chapter with One Piece and 1 episode crossover with it, and a lot more. The series beginning licensing sales were pretty good. Not mega popular series level, but a Super popular series one.

There was only one thing to realize in all that situation, that people don't really got that much attracted to Toriko to spend extra money in the franchise(volumes, DVD/BD, ...) and to continue with it for more years.

Note that way before Toei animation Anime Toriko manga volume didn't sell much. You yourself made a list with Toriko Volume Sales and there you have, that right before the anime Toriko volumes were selling around 215k copies, Boku no Hero opposite with it is in 300k. Toriko first volumes sold around 65k copies, My Hero Academy around 230k, more than Toriko right before the anime(That is also Toei Animation fault?).
Also the next year after Toriko anime, we go from a volume selling around 215k, before leaving the ranking, to around 350k a 63% increase, and appearing for the 1st time in the Yearly Top of volume sales with around 450k per volume, a 109% increase.
The data yourself wrote: http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=1369397, says the anime had a pretty big good impact on the series sales, and that it seems since the beginning Toriko had a problem in volume sales.

The data yourself wrote: http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=1369397, says the anime had a pretty big good impact on the series sales, and that it seems since the beginning Toriko had a problem in volume sales.

at your last paragraph... that is because toriko doesnt appeal as much as boku no hero. One series is about heros and the other is about hunting food so its obvious that the one about heros will get more attention and ppl will give it a try more than toriko.

boku no hero right now sells a bit more than toriko. that is going to change when the anime comes out. If toriko got animated by another studio I think the sales will be higher than when toei got it.

toei did not boost the sales that high. it still lost to fairy tail

and nope :P if anyone is willing to explain it'll be much obliged!

There are 2 sales numbers, for that week and since it was released. Note how the 2nd number of One Piece volume 79 is bigger than all the other series by a digit.
Here they don't inform about how much time a volume is on sales but One Piece volume 9 is already in its 8th week, most other series this week are in the first 1 release.

This week also had fierce competition -and by extension a high threshold- (probably the biggest in the past 3/4 months). Last OP volume made 11 straight weeks on the list yet this one was close to falling off after 'just' 7 (even though it's selling just as much).

Action being toned down has no effect in anime popularity

Action is pretty important especially for toriko, it loses that sense of wildness it has.

Toriko didn't get a fair chance cause the 3rd year is when toriko takes a major turn from mostly adventure to full on focusing on the main goal, which was not handled right and pretty much entirely skipped the major arc and replaced with rainbow vampire toriko (they should make that a spinoff).
And the anime quality slipped in the 2nd year maybe that's what actually killed it.

People didn't buy it cause it was badly marketed, it falls together.
It's like they didn't know what to do with toriko after the 1st year and a half.
Why the manga sales didn't increase even more than it did is beyond me, maybe it just wasn't the right time for a manly series like toriko to be out in 2011 and as a kids show.
The possibilities if madhouse did it :'(
