The list goes on man.

The parents are either divorced so the MC lives with 1 of his parents; they get less screentime; or usually, there are cases where the MC has 1 parent dead by some natural disease and the other 1 is alive, but during the story you can see the MC loosing that 1 parent he has left. ..............IDK

The targeted audience are people who may receive little or negative attention from their parents or authority figures. It presents a fantasy where you can achieve without the aforementioned people.

Because drama and/or you can have a young protagonist have the freedom of an adult, because there's no parents in the way. It's weird, I actually sort of enjoy this cliche.

Yusuke's mom was there, she was just a drunk(and probably abusive). Anyways, I think it's just easier for a series aimed at s younger audience to have a largely same aged cast. Plus, from a storytelling perspective parents get in the way of kids going adventuring and what not due to the danger.

Because the story is not about them, at least not in nerd oriented anime. It's not just anime, Batman is a famous example as well.

If they're not dead, chances are they're not shown because they're irrelevant. In sports anime they hardly ever show up (Onoda's mother is the exception, and she's solely there for comedy). Shit, in Kurobas the only parents that ever get a mention are Akashi's and that's only to give some kind of explanation as to why he's the way he is.

Sometimes they'll be there in the beginning to push the protagonist off into a new world/adventure and then no longer do anything.

I'm sure I've seen his mother in things. Maybe just a doujin though. But sometimes the mangaka will mention the family members of certain characters in fanbooks or whatever. I know everyone in Kurobas has had theirs noted (Takao and Midorima both have little sisters, for example) if they haven't made cameos in the series itself (Izuki's two sisters, Koganei's sister, Mitobe's siblings, etc).

lazy writing tactic for constructing edgy drama and/or excuse to not have to write them into the script.
Now you're wondering if there's white text in any of my other posts.

One of the examples you gave is Remi (although the female version). Considering Ie Naki Ko Remi is based on the novel Sans Famille we can also wonder why many classical children's books have orphan protagonists or protagonists looking for their families. Some examples of those and that were adapted to anime:

Remi
Heidi
Marco
Perrine
Sara

(...) list goes on

Actually, there ARE a lot of shows with anime parents that are unimportant, I can't deny that.

It's not like anime is the only media that use this nonexistent parent setting, and there's no deep reason behind it, it's just the way the story is. If they gonna point it out as a plot point then fine but if they just gonna act as if nothing happened it's also fine.

The parents can get in the way of the plot and stuff (e.g. no parent is going to tell their kid go be hokage or pirate king...) plus some parents death give a MC a motive.
