Given some of your circumstances, I find it hard to differentiate.

I am UNI student.
I leave my flat/room at the dorm.
I am not obsessed with anime/manga,it is just that I can not bring myself to do anything better.

Otaku is one who embraces Japanese culture, but not one who is obsessed with it and tries to consistently incorporate it into their life.

NEET. Well I take it literally. So someone who is not employed, in education, or in training. Doesn't have anything to do w/ Otaku/Weeabo as far as Im concerned. Though I know it's used as a joke like that :)
Now I see the secret of the making of the best persons.
It is to grow in the open air and to eat and sleep with the earth.
-Walt Whitman

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.

NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training)

Otaku (a young person who is obsessed with computers or particular aspects of popular culture to the detriment of their social skills.)

The question was not how do they differ but how do you differ from them.

HAHA! I missed the "you" in the topic name!

Well, I'm not a NEET cause I'm still an uni student.

I don't think I'm Otaku cause I'm just an anime fan. I'm not obsessed with it. I don't own figurines, manga, anime discs, etc.

A NEET or neet is a young person who is "Not in Education, Employment, or Training.

An Otaku is just a guy who is super addicted to anime or something else.

I am a NEET. I suppose I'm different from an otaku because I'm not really "obsessed", and I don't have a room filled with a bunch of anime figurines (yet). And I bathe regularly. And I'm not an obese neckbeard.

Otaku is Japanese person in the first place...

The term describes unhealthy obsession with something
and it's not related to certain hobbies. It's also derogatory.

OT: I'm no different from a NEET, because in fact I'm one.

I prefer staying indoors (but I go out everyday)
I like anime and manga (but I'm not obsessed)
I like Japan (but not solely because of its pop culture)
I like the Japanese language (but not because it's the Japanese language)
I dislike dubbed anime (but that's because I hate dubs in general)

So other than small similarities I have nothing in common with NEETs and otakus

I guess I technically am an otaku since in Japanese it's literally just someone who is obsessed with something (it's seen as nerdy I think). And I get obsessed over things really easily -- youtubers, books, movies, songs, languages, and anime too. But I am most definitely not a NEET, I'm in high school and I have a job

Otaku - Shut-in who stays home as much as possible and rarely goes outside to do things.
NEET - Not in employment, education or training.

What makes me none of the above:
I go to school (though I'm reluctant) and I leave the house.

Wrong. Hikikomori is the equivalent of shut-in,
otaku is an unhealthy obsession with something.

Most people are surprised when they find out I actually watch anime because I don't conform to these negative stereotypes. Also, I feel like all this thread will cause is bragging... Oh well

I'm a year round athlete trying to get a D1 scholarship for Track and Field
I go out often and actually have friends
I talk to girls and girls talk to me(dating obviously as well)
I'm not obsessed with Japanese culture, only watch anime. Don't own any of figurines or cosplay or speak Japanese or do anything like that and I'm interested in the other aspects like computers that much either.
I could go on...
