Imagine you are about to become father/mother in Japan & your partner is native Japanese.

How would you name your baby? Western-style name, or japanese name?
If japanese, which name would you choose for your boy/girl and why?
What is wrong with loving someone who doesn't exist ? Absolutely nothing. As long as you make peace with it.

consult the fortune tellers like all the grandmas do.

i think that's how I got named.

It is to grow in the open air and to eat and sleep with the earth.

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Personally, i like Mafuyu or Nozomi, although "Mafuyu" with its pronouncing sounds bit like "fuj" witch means "yuck" in my native language. :D

Ryo.

It's a unisex name and it's an alias I picked up.
Just need to find out how to quote this every time so I can dodge the stupid 30-character limit.

If it's a boy, Shinji. If it's a girl, Rei.

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse.

Girl:

Why would I name my child this? Because all these names are real people that I've met in school and were friends with.

I'd leave the decision up to my wife unless she really needed input (which is what I would do anyway).

Neither, I would give them an Ethiopian name since I'm Ethiopian. They're already getting a Japanese last name from the dad (yay patriarchy) so yeah I'm giving them an Ethiopian first name. I've always liked the word for sun (pronounced kind of like tse-high, but I would write it like Sehi in English, and maybe like せはい in Japanese), I think I might name my baby girl that. Never thought of a name for a boy lmao

I would prefer to give him a western name but if I have to live in Japan then I'll go with Ken. It works both in Japan and the west.
