How about this, anime is just short for animation. Therefore anything drawn in frames per second = animation. Bugs Bunny is an anime

Blown = Mind

People aren't lying when they say King of the Hill is their favourite anime.

Nah, anime = Japanese animation. In Japan they specifically use 外国アニメ (or 外界アニメ?) to refer to foreign animation.

Anime means animation in Japanese.

Cartoon is another word for animation.

Anime are cartoons, we just call them anime when specifically referring to Japanese cartoons, it's not really worth arguing about.

The correct word here is still simply "animation". The word "cartoon" refers to satirical and overexaggerated drawings in newspapers. The use of the word "cartoon" for animation has really only been limited to some western countries and usually limited to US-made children shows. Using "cartoons" for Japanese animation would be strange since it's a completely different culture of animation that was created seperately.

Calling Japanese animation as "cartoons" is like calling Katanas as "Sabre".

Think it's more like, people calling soft drinks "pop" or "soda" or people calling death metal "screamo" it's mildly annoying, but you knew what they meant. If people call anime cartoons I don't think it's worth it to try and correct them.

When people think about cartoon, they think about kiddy stuff so when people call their favourite anime cartoon, its like telling the anime is for kid. Maybe, they should use the term adult cartoon? But then it will refer to completely different thing when they search on Google..

The word anime is used to distinguish Japanese animation from general animation.

Around the world, the word "Anime" is used for Japanese animation;
But in japan, the word "Anime" can be also used for animation in general

reminds me of the pointless argument i had with some other user on youtube. Anime refers to Japanese animation for gaijins, but Japanese call any animation anime.
