An official website has opened for the Winter 2016 anime Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm (Four Rhythm Across the Blue), revealing a new key visual and the cast of the series. The series is an adaptation of the visual novel by sprite. Also known by the short name Aokana, the visual novel won the Grand Prize and User's Choice Award in the 2014 Moe Game Awards. A PlayStation Vita version is scheduled for release in 2016 featuring the same cast as the anime series. Studio Gonzo will animate the series under the direction of Fumitoshi Oizaki (Etotama). Animation character designs were created by Keiya Nakano (Escha & Logy no Atelier), while Reiko Yoshida (Romeo x Juliet) is composing the series scripts. Cast Asuka Kurashina: Misato Fukuen (Strike Witches) Misaki Tobisawa: Azumi Asakura (The iDOLM@STER) Mashiro Arisaka: Nozomi Yamamoto (Absolute Duo) Rika Ichinose: Madoka Yonezawa (Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai) Official site: http://www.aokana-anime.com/ Source: Ota☆Suke |

>Gonzo >Meh VAs >Walkure Romanze-like synopsis Now they just need to announce that it'll be a single cour anime and I'll expect this to be totally crap. |
>Meh VAs
I can't exactly disagree with this completely because all of the VAs didn't have that many major roles. But Asuka's VA Sawata Natsu voiced the iconic character Nikaidou Shinku, that alone deserves praise. And Rika's VA Mishiro Mako also voiced Ogiso Setsuna, which made her quite famous. Kruzy said: >Walkure Romanze-like synopsis Trust me this game is nothing like Walzure Romanze. For starters, its not disguised as a nukige, it had so little H scenes that I was pretty sad about it. Second, the game is actually really good, top 5 in 2014 for sure. |

God those VAs suck, not really by themselves, but as a group of MCs, meh. Still on the fence about this one, Winter is looking alright so really don't feel the need to watch this, maybe if they put out a good PV or something but with that key visual I dunno, this is a series that really needed 10/10 visuals to work even if the story isn't that good. Someone like P.A. or 3Hz should take them this really but it's probably designed as a low budget ad from the get-go. |

Still only okay at best to be honest. I don't really care that much anyway about VAs as long as they aren't overly annoying. Sadly most VN adaptations turn out to be crap because they usually only get 12 episode adaptations and it's even worse if they don't have a true ending or linear plot which usually results in adaptations of all the routes. It doesn't help much knowing that Gonzo will be animating this. |

Save. Key visual is still save for my eyes. But why Gonzo? Of all studio it's my worst enemy. Since it's announcement back in the day I'm always hyped by this but it's slowly degraded by the fact that Gonzo will be doing this. This is the highest ranked sprite VN in VNDB and review of this is good too. Plus I'm interested by the concept of Flying Circus. Side info VN translation have only two route left. I'm hoping for it to be out before the end of the year. For those who are interest about in and out of the game. https://aokanatranslation.wordpress.com/ |

And so i checked Vndb for this Vn and it appears to be a harem, not that i have a harem genre trauma. I guess it is welcomed due to the "flying race" concept. Inb4, harem haters assemble :P |

Although I have some interest because of the premise, going into this series with low expectations with with the studio. At least key visual looks somewhat nice. |

Something you made up entirely without any knowledge whatsoever about this game or eroge in general? 98% of medium-high priced eroge have more than one heroine, but that doesn't automatically makes it a harem. What you're looking at is eroge that are aimed at the harem genre. Harem in an eroge means there will be a harem ending, and normally the protagonist will have group sex with 2 or more heroines. Ao no Kanata belongs to the charage category, and charage are generally not harem at all. Standard harem eroge with harem ending: http://seiya-saiga.com/game/cube/kurafuta.html Ao no Kanata with no harem ending in sight: http://seiya-saiga.com/game/sprite/aokana.html |

Not sure about the studio, but the visual is pretty decent and from reviews of the VN this should work pretty well as an anime, so I'm cautiously optimistic. |

It definitely wasn't about shows like Little Busters, Clannad, Fate/Stay Night, Steins;Gate which either have more than 12 episodes, didn't get all routes adapted into a single TV show or had a true ending/linear plot. Also I don't know about "most epic anime". |

When the female to male ratio exceeds about 3:1, it qualifies for harem status, and pretty much all the exceptions feature actual adult characters. This mean nothing. Just because of the ratio, you can't based it like that. Saki had surpassed that ratio, but it ain't a harem. Get your facts right. A harem is a harem when it has an ending that has more than 1 heroine getting together with the protagonist. If you don't know how VNs are structured, it'll be nice to keep mum. VNs routings don't work the same way as anime. |

This looks like one of those VNs where the MC speaks one liners constantly while being bombarded by the girls' non-stop chattering, full of boring dialogues about mundane things that just goes on forever with the bland bgm playing still. At worst it'll be insta-drop and at best it'll be a timewaster when nothing's to do. The last VN adaptations i truly enjoyed was Grisaia due to how nonsensical and ridiculous it was that it became unintentionally funny. Doesn't look like this series will be anything like that. Also, bonus point since the heroines aren't some sex doll-looking chicks with obnoxious hair ornaments. |
