Who'da thought Kanata would wind up becoming irredeemable garbage? :D Seriously, he's garbage now. Good job show. :D You could have him single-handedly brutally murder the remaining enemies...and he'd still be garbage. Sigh...and this was going so well before those last few minutes too.

He just couldn't stand Haruka keep getting hurt, that's why he said something like that.
You know how painful memories he got, they lose hope kingdom and all went despaired and he found Haruka and gave him hope again.
I guess those painful is so much stronger.

Since Kanata is her only bridge that was supporting her dream, of course she broke down like that.
I guess they need a plot like this to make Haruka grown stronger and gain some new power to defeat her enemy.

When I first saw Close back in the show, I said, he looked like a ninja. Now he's doing a ninja like thing.

Overall great episode. Haruka having her hopes destroyed by the man who gave her hope. That was just a shocking twist at the end. Next episode looks good can't wait.

I agree with Kanata. It's impossible to be a princess unless you're

1. the daughter of royalty
2. married to a prince.

But I feel bad for Haru.

Beautiful epsiode. Can't wait for the next one :D
It was so powerful and yet heartbreaking. To have your hopes and dreams crushed, especially by the one who gave you that hope in the first place is hard. I can't wait to see how Flora will overcome this.

That's how I see it, and that's one of the reasons why this series gets on my nerves so much. It seems pretty ludicrous, to me, and I love princesses, :P

I was thinking Haruka will end up with Kanata or something, sooo...
(Plus their names share the same meaning of 'in the distance', there's gotta be some connection between them in the end.)

Anyway, this episode gave plenty of clues about what Dyspear did to Kanata back when he got left behind in Hope Kingdom. Dyspear probably took all his hope away, which resulted in him losing his memories and turning into this. I'm hoping things clear up next ep! We're reaching the climax aren't we?

This was an amazing episode. I feel bad for Haruka though... It wasn't rushed either(in some animes they dive headfirst into the big parts, not realizing it's just too soon).

That was an entire episode about an Precure villain henchman being good as his job.
Close had very well thought out plan and he pulled it off pretty well, too.

Also fuck Kanata. I know why he said these things, but it was still a pretty stupid thing to do.

tfw the man who gave you hope takes it all away from you

I see why Kanata said the words he said, and it makes Haruka's despair that much more painful. It's easy to see Kanata's perspective here: Haruka is his closest friend and all he can do is watch as she gets her shit pushed in for the sake of what comes off as some crazy, unattainable dream that puts a terrible burden on her shoulders; dreams can hurt too, and what Kanata saw was the woman he loves self-destruct. Of course he'd tell her to stop before it's too late.

All-in-all, I really liked the twist and the general idea behind the episode: the greater the hope, the greater the despair and Cure Flora has been portrayed as the one with perhaps the strongest resolve and dream out of all the characters in the show, so it made sense for her to become disheartened enough to make all the despair seeds exponentially grow at once. Well played, Close. Well played.

Having Kanata be the one to finish driving in the dagger was an excellent touch.

It makes sense too, especially since he no longer has his memories for context. Haruka's dream is the furthest out the of the group, the most "impossible". The irony here is that she probably would have given up on her dream long ago as a child and eventually adopted a new one had the Dress Up Key not followed her and had not Kanata encouraged her. In many senses that makes him responsible for Haruka; he promised something that literally would have been all but impossible without his intervention. Without Kanata as he was, without Hope Kingdom, Haruka's dream is dead.

That's what makes Kanata's words so devestating to Haruka. It's not just that he has forgotten his memories. It's that he appears to be giving up on regaining them. His intentions may not be ill; he may simply be trying to prevent Haruka from getting hurt over what appears to his memory-less self to be a futile effort; but it wasn't his telling Haruka she "could" give up on her dream that caused her to despair. It was because his saying that indicated that her dream may already be dead. Her dream can't exist without him, and as far as anyone knows there's nothing that can be done to restore him to his former state.

Of course, had she not been in such a high-stress situation in the first place I don't think she would have snapped. We have to acknowledge Close's plan for that. The effects of the Zetsuborg disappear when they're defeated, so it would make sense for all of Dyspear's effects on Hope Kingdom-- and possibly Kanata himself-- to return to their former state when she is defeated if he doesn't regain his memories and powers before them. With her friends there she would have had both emotional and (in the case of the other Cures) physical support.

All in all a very good episode.

Fucking Kanata. You had one job - just sit there be all prince-y and inspire Haruka. Then again, it's understandable why he said all that. But what was he thinking demoralizing her in the middle of a battle? Good thing complete despair was the exact outcome Close was looking for and left, or else she would have been a sitting duck and died much before any possible backup could arrive.

This episode gave me a lot of Madoka Magica vibe. Also liked that they finally dropped the usual "monster of the week" formula and did something different this time around.

And surprisingly, Towa in this episode wasn't the sheltered, gullible princess you'd expect her to be, and instead turned out to be the only one with enough brain to be skeptical of this really suspicious guy who showed up out of nowhere and started getting all chummy.

Close disguising himself as "Kurosu" (git gud Team Rocket), that made me laugh for half the episode... while the other half was to hit me with a truck.

Kanata, seeing how hurt Haruka was, decided to to say the worst thing that he could have said there to her: to stop pushing herself so far for a dream. Seeing the Kanata from her memories smiling in comparison to the current one and her will to fight becoming despair was absolutely heartbreaking, those empty eyes man.

Outstanding episode, I was not prepared for this.

Wow, I was NOT expecting that from pretty cure-

A fantastic episode, although I do have to wonder how the other three didn’t notice how くろす (Kurosu) sounds exactly like Close’s name クロス (Kurosu but in Katakana) in Japanese. I mean, I’d expect that kevel of blind trust and not questioning things from Haruka, but Minami?

Aside form that nitpick, probably one of my favourite episodes so far this season!
