What do you appreciate most about your friends, and why?
If you don't have people you consider to be friends, what did you admire in previous friends? Or simply admire and appreciate in people in general?

And, optional question: How would you briefly describe the best friend you ever had? Or how your "ideal" best friend would be like, if you've never had a BFF before?

Discuss.

Gonna sound weird but my BFF has a very distinctive walk that made it real easy to pick him of a crowd back before I got glasses and the world was a fuzzy, indistinct mess.

Also I admire his ability to walk into school at the age of 15 with a mohawk. He got crucified and it was the best six weeks of my life.

I have like three groups of "friends", right now. One's my main squad, I appreciate the honestly and activity. We keep talking and don't hide anything from each other. The second is my senpai squad, where I'm the youngest and they're all older people. I appreciate that they still invite me to events and we still have a blast together. The third is my new group, and I appreciate that we can all talk about our interests and communicate well.

they're a lot of fun and always there for me. I'm always there for them too and when you get really close to someone it just feels really amazing!
I've had a few best friends and they were kind of best friends in slightly different ways, but the thing every single one of them had in common was the fact that we really just connected and clicked on some deeper level.

Even if I came to the US, my friends never forget to leave me a message every once in a while and they never neglect me when I try to send a message so for that, I'm really glad.

We have met recently (A year ago ? I can't remember). We just share the same mindset and humor, yet we're pretty different.

They were kinda tsundere. Serious but liked me fooling around them. Also slightly smarter than me, it inspired me to be better intellectually when I was competing with them in classes (though that was also just for fun-sies). And I honestly could tell them anything.

They're awesome, chill and just plain fun to talk to. The fact that they don't find me unbearable makes me very happy! I'm able to talk to them comfortably and without the feeling of being a nuisance. I'm not one to open up quickly but once I do, I'll trust that person quite easily because I feel as if there is a reason for such a connection. To those I've opened up to, I'll talk to about more personal topics such as my insecurities and stuff, which I rarely talk about otherwise.

I kind of break down friends into categories cause I mean the quality of how much a friend someone is totally is a thing.

Friends that only message you when they need help: I have some of these outside of when they want something they don't really talk to me all that much but I'm a nice person so I still keep contact with them but I don't waste effort.

Friends that I hang around with but aren't close on a personal level: This classifies a lot of the people I know they are cool to hang out with online but they are a complete and total mystery outside of the internet most likely won't end up ever meeting them in person which is okay.

Friends who have my back and would walk through the frozen desert with me: This is a small group of people who think I'm a great person I've been invited to weddings and been invited to go places with them even if I didn't end up going or being able to meet up I care about these people very much.

Friends who are true and real friend who would give you the shirt off their back: I have a very few like this and surprisingly most of them are online friends who I've been friends with for 9+ years playing games and having a good time with. They've helped me when my computer broke and I didn't have the money to fix it because they didn't want to have to play games without me. We talk on a regular basis one of these friends wants to go on a Japan adventure with me. I consider these people true friends who would never end up back stabbing me or using me for any reason.

They're honest genuine people, which is a quality that's really hard to find these days. We've all been friends for almost 20 years now, they're the only people I fully trust. They're a bunch of asshole's, but we all have an unbreakable bond.

What do you appreciate most about your friends, and why?
1. Friends back home, that they've stayed by side since childhood. They're my family by choice.
2. Friends here at college, that they make time go by faster =P That's about it. One girl I'd add that I appreciate them being a genuinely nice and caring person.

And, optional question: How would you briefly describe the best friend you ever had? Or how your "ideal" best friend would be like, if you've never had a BFF before?
I'd describe them as alter-ego me. We're exactly the same yet completely opposite. It's weird.

Allowing me to survive college/university, highschool or before had almost made me think survival of the fittest wasn't a thing in academics, but it really is.

For real though, it can be truly challenging to go into it without any friends, sure you can meet new people but the bond isn't as strong for people meeting in post-secondary, I've seen people flunk out who might've been saved by friends or just a helping hand, but it's human nature to be attracted to the strong, the weak will not get help unless they ask for it, but the time and effort needed to find some half-decent help is already a killer.

Aside from my rant, I guess friends are just good for talking about interests, etc.

The fact that we can talk about pretty much everything, as well as the fact that they want to spend time with me whenever they're able to. Mutual interests and willing to spend time with your buddies are crucial for maintaining a good quality friendship imho.

I have two BFFs. One is an anime fan (I started watching anime mostly thanks to him) and wants to be a movie director. The other one is a happy-go-lucky guy who's an optimist, a natural born comedian and fun to be around. There are other friends, but those two are my favorite and that's why I consider them my BFFs.

I respect your opinion as long as you respect mine.
