lol I actually think I may have been Japanese in a past life, some of the accents man, they just take me aback sometimes, theres this one rural accent that I keep meaning to make a couple of clips of and start a thread about, to see if anyone knows which district its from.

Are there many Japanese MAL members btw?

I think that wishing for a different nationality is too much of a change. I woudn't have experienced the things I have and probably would be a different person.

But I do want to live/visit Japan. People seem very respectful etc. And Japan has a great quality of life.
Obviously, Japan has its problems but I still wish I could go there, maybe to work or something.

Maybe. But I heard living and working in Japan is busy and stressful, and it is quite difficult to earn a living there since the commodities there are rather expensive compared to my country. And I don't think I can handle their culture about respect.

Still, I would love to go to Japan as a tourist, or maybe stay there temporarily.

I just would like to live in Japan for some time.
But only as a tourist, without obligation to work
or any other responsibilities.

However I imagine it not only as wonderful,
but also as difficult experience, since I don't know
the language and Japanese etiquette / manners.

I would like to have some distant Japanese relative and a small percentage of Japanese DNA in me just to be connected to the culture more but I'd never want to be full blooded Japanese and I would not want to have been born in Japan or move to Japan.

Anime over-glorifies/romanticizes Japanese life. If I could somehow live the way some anime protags do, that'd be awesome, but I don't wish to just be another nationality or race.

Nah, I've already been mistaken for every single kind of asian. Being Japanese though would actually allow me to pronounce those dumb rolling r ("rr") sounds in Spanish, which I would have liked.

No. I wish there were better wages in my country, but that's about it.
1 hour = 10,000 yen.
2 hours = 20,000 yen.
3 hours = 3 loaves of French bread.
4 hours = 4 loaves of French bread.

Called fiction for a reason.

Kids can't tell the difference years after learning Santa isn't real. Anime is technically correct in some things, not in the others.
"If you died, would anyone care? Would they really care? Maybe, they'd cry for a day. But, let's be honest no one would give a shit. They wouldn't. The few people that would feel obligated to go to your funeral would probably be annoyed and leave as early as possible. That's who you are. That's what you are. You are nothing to anyone. To everyone."
-Mr. Robot

"I can take another name, and build a new life.. But on the inside I'll always have that instinct, no matter how much I hate it. I'm yakuza through and through. Guile only gets you so far in this game. Remember that. You won't get another chance."

Getting depressed over the fact that you are not Japanese because you like Anime is a disturbing fact. Please don't take this the wrong way, but you should get professional counsel with a physiologist.

It's not just because I like anime. Even if anime didn't exist, I'd still want to be Japanese.

And a physiologist would just be like "Just be happy with who who you are! Now give me your money."

At least you have a good sense of humor and that's important. All I can say is this: there are stuff that we cannot control in this life and there's no point in dwelling for such things, only worry about the things you can control.
