Eirin, the Film Classification and Rating Committee of Japan, has added a movie of the 2011 TV series Last Exile: Ginyoku no Fam to the list of works it has evaluated for theatrical screening. Titled Last Exile: Ginyoku no Fam Movie - Over the wishes, the work is listed at 1 hour 59 minutes.

The committee's rating evaluation was conducted on September 28, and the description does not reveal any new plot in comparison to the TV series. Tokyu Recreation, which operates the 109 Cinemas chain of movie theaters, is listed as the movie's distributor.

Last Exile: Ginyoku no Fam is the 20th anniversary project of animation studio Gonzo. It is the sequel of the 2003 series Last Exile, which is the studio's 10th anniversary project.

If it doesn't reveal any new plot then it will be one of the most pointless things, considering there are already two recap ova out there for this anime.
Season 2 was pointless milling and sucked anyway, I don't care.

I have been thinkin about it.....and i came to the conclusion that this does not make sense for them to make a recap film for a series after all this time...especially considering that this series itself already has 2 recap episodes to begin with.

So tell me why would they invest to have this series booked to be viewed in the cinema's? even if it is a recap film why would they spend there money to this for a series that aired long ago and has already finished airing.

After examining a few things and thinking from a buisness point of view..i have come to two possible outcomes.

One either they are just doing a little self promotion to re-sell some of it's blu ray and dvd stocks.

Two...this could be a preparation to announce another project that involves the series...think about it...why take the time and effort do a compilation film and show it in cinema's unless it is to remind people of the events of the story line in order to promote a new project they are going to start with that involves another story after the events of the last series.....this is the only real possible explanation for this to be done after all this time.

After all Gonzo did fam of the silver wing partially cause it was a 20th anniversary project....as well to get some of there finacies back to recover...so with there 25th anniversary coming up as well is still need of more financial recovery this could be why it is being done.

I would be lying if i would say i have my doubts about it....it could be this no big deal at all and nothing is really going to happen...but after thinking about what i said in here...u can't blame me for this theory crafting can you?...What do you people think?

I hope it will have some new material...
Been awhile since I've seen the Last Exile franchise, especially Dio.

We need a real plot in between the first and Fam Silver Wing and not an extension to season 2 story.

that's because it's an extremely empty franchise in america. however it was really popular in japan. i'd be surprised if a lot of people knew about this. i recommend S1 if you are interested. it's a pretty good series. S2 is basically like S2 of kuroshitsuji - not needed at all and irrelevant.

but after 4yrs? really japan? and you pic the worst part of the franchise? no-one cared about S2 from what i've seen...-_-

SPOILERS
[spoiler]S2 had no reason to be made in the first place. it was kinda confirmed dio and his brother were dead. dio was brought back obviously due to fans and therefore ruined the season. his and his brother's death meant something in S1.

i still haven't gotten around to seeing S2, but from the clips i've seen, it's not at all interesting or as pretty as S1. heck, if they made a S3 instead of the movie, i'd still be confused.[/i]

also, what is up with all these anime getting films recently lol?

I actually didn't hate S2 so if this is a sequel movie then I'm looking forward to it.

Eh, a Last Exile movie sounds eh. The series was alright but there really shouldn't be more after that.

As long as there will be a lot of airship battles I'm fine with it - might be nice to have good plot but it's not necessary.

I liked the original but this one was pretty poor. Had a nice op though.

I'll watch the movie, they should of just left the series alone though tbh

The first season was alright, The second not so much, imo.. With no new plot for the movie this is a no-go for me.

Maybe using different character view to tell the other side of the story.

Ginyoku no Fam is not a SECOND SEASON! It's another story happening in the same universe, that's it.

Meh. Fam was trash that ret-conned most of the original's lore. Can't say I'm looking forward to it even as a big fan of the first series.

The original was one of my favourite anime's but Fam was such a waste. It wasn't bad but it wasn't even close to the originals greatness. I don't really see the point of making a film from the inferior series. That said, I will probably still watch it.
