During Friday's New York Comic Con, VIZ Media announced that it has licensed the 2011 Hunter x Hunter anime. The series will be released on both Blu-ray and DVD, and the company will be producing an English dub. Hunter x Hunter (2011) is the second TV adaptation of the ongoing manga series, and it ended in Japan last year with 148 episodes.

Viz Media also announced the acquisition of six new manga titles during their panel. This included the following original manga series which have recently been adapted to TV anime: Haruichi Furudate's Haikyuu!!, Tadatoshi Fujimaki's Kuroko no Basket, and Mizuho Kusanagi's Akatsuki no Yona (Yona of the Dawn).

In addition to these works, the publishing company also announced the following new titles:
  • Totsuzen desu ga, Ashita Kekkon Shimasu (Everyone's Getting Married)
The josei romance manga by Izumi Miyazono focuses on a talented woman named Asuka. She works hard at her real estate job, but her true dream is to get married and be a housewife. Her boyfriend, who has been with her for 5 years, suddenly breaks up their relationship. The manga has been serialized in Petit Comic since April 2014. VIZ will be releasing it in Summer 2016.

  • 7th Garden
7th Garden is a supernatural shounen by Mitsu Izumi. It features a gardener who serves at a manor and accidentally awakens a female demon. She offers the gardener a choice: become her servant or have his garden destroyed. The manga is currently ongoing in Jump SQ magazine. VIZ will also be releasing this title in Summer 2016.

  • Black Clover
Black Clover by Yuuki Tabata is an action shounen about two boys who were abandoned in the same church. They each promised to become the next Emperor Magus despite their differences. Yuno can control magic, while Asta cannot. The manga has been serialized since February 2015 in Weekly Shounen Jump. VIZ Media has already serialized chapters of the manga in its digital Weekly Shounen Jump line-up, and will be releasing this title in volumes beginning Summer 2016.

I'm really glad Hunter x Hunter 2011 is getting a dub because it means more people will watch it, like those who don't watch anime in subs.

I probably won't watch the dub, but all I want to know is who will voice Hisoka.

Omg yes, AkaYona!!! Great news! Please license Akagami too...

I'm surprised it's taken Haikyuu that long to get licensed though.

Yes!

So excited about this. A DVD/BD release of HxH WILL be something I'll buy. Don't know how to feel about the dub, though.

Surprised it took so long for Kuroko no Basket to get licensed in the first place, same with Haikyuu.

They're both WSJ so the Shueisha rights are already unanimously given to them, and these manga have a very dedicated fanbase so obviously it'll sell.

Hopefully Hunter X Hunter gets released in nice blu-ray sets of each arc, similar to Bleach and Naruto. Viz DVDs are surprisingly one of the best.

I'm going to give the dub for Hunter x Hunter a try. I hope they pick a solid cast though especially for Gon and Killua.

Still, I'm quite happy to see HxH licensed! Very nice.

Several pretty significant titles, so seeing them licensed is a good thing. And seeing HxH finally get licensed is really great to see as well. Glad to see at least Haikyuu is getting licensed while it's still ongoing and popular, though it's really unfortunate KnB's done, but better late than never I guess.

Still waiting for Kingdom to be licensed, and being that's also a Shueisha title, I"m assuming only Viz can get them. I'm just surprised they haven't picked it up yet.

When it comes to WSJ titles, I think Viz has finally picked up all the popular titles. I hope they can speed up the time to license a title from when it was first released. I mean Black Clover and BnH were both licensed very soon after they were first serialized, I hope it's the case for future titles as well.

I enjoy HxH a lot, I hope they give justice to the dub.

Took them long enough for Kuroko, like wtf were they waiting for?

They missed out on a lot of potential sales from 2012-2015.

I doubt Kuroko will sell as much as it could've now in North America.

Great that Haikyuu got licensed, will definitely buy that.

I'm surprised it's taken this long for Kuroko. You'd think they'd milk the cow sooner.

Historically, sport series don't do so hot outside of japan, so it makes sense as to why companies have been hesitant to bring the likes of Haikyuu and KnB to english speaking countries. Hopefully they both do well so more series can make their way over.

Meh...

And why are people excited that HXH anime was licensed?

Most of MAL consists of bashing away anyone that even dares to say they watch dubs and laughs at anyone that actually buys anime...

So...

Well, it's about time the 2011 HxH series is getting dubbed! Since I haven't gotten into the manga or the original anime series, and being a native English speaker with an aversion to subs, this would be the perfect opportunity for me (and many others) to do so.

As for the other announced releases...while I don't even read manga, I'm really hoping that there'll be an English dub of the Kuroko no Basket anime as well.

An awesome acquisition notice. Hyped for 7th garden, will be nice to get to catch up with that! I've been procrastinating on Kuroko and Yona, hardcopies will make that a bit easier.

Well cool news. I hope the dub doesn't end up being as horrendous as the dub for HxH'99.

Nobody will be able to beat Kamikawa though. Everyone should watch this subbed for Hisoka alone. :<

Just a chance to watch Hunter x Hunter in Blu-Ray quality on my TV alone makes it worth buying, though I expected Funimation to be the one to license this title, oh well the dub should be good either way.

The Hunter x Hunter (2011) blu-rays will be day 1 with expedited shipping purchases from me!
Dub quality won't affect me at all since I'll re-watch it in Japanese, but still hoping the dub will be good.

No date yet for HxH.
Haikyuu is out by Sentai as sub-only sets, so no dub is being planned for it.
Kuroko anime hasn't been licensed.
The only anime from this post is HxH. The rest is manga.
