I'm doing a school project and I would like to know what people's favourite anime genre is so please help and vote away!

P.S. If your favourite genre is not listed please post it with a request to add it

I like everything almost equally. Maybe I favor more slice of life series. It's easier to say what turns me off. I watch some yaoi/shonen-ai and still don't get any fun out of it. Loveless was the closest one I had fun watching.

When I see seinen I am trying to watch it as soon as possilbe. They seem to be always above average.
Comedies are good too though.

Forgive my melancholy.

Genres are mixed with targeted demographics, so I don't know how to pick one. But I don't really have just one favorite genre anyway.

most yaoi anime sucks (except for Ai no Kusabi). Yaoi in a manga form is much better

and I say either mystery, horror or good comedy show to entertain me^^

I didn't want to hurt you but you're pretty when you cry. I didn't really love you but I'm pretty when I lie.

Yeah, but I have fun with suckass stuff like the average harem series. With yaoi/shonen-ai I can't get any fun out of it regardless of quality.

Ultimately, I go for feel-good stuff. It doesn't have to have a barrage of rapidfire jokes, but I like my anime to raise a smile every now and then. So I went for comedy, as I guess that's the most important genre to me.

Other genres I appreciate are fantasy, sci-fi, harem, school and slice of life.

Josei, Seinen, Shonen, Shojo, and Kids aren't genres, they're demographics. At any rate, I like them all the same.

Most of your list are not genres.

Shounen, Shoujo, Seinen, Josei, and Kids are all target demographics. Meaning the anime are intended for an audience of adolscent boys, middle-aged women, etc.

Martial Arts and Sports are not genres either.

Wikipedia said:
A genre is a loose set of criteria for a category of composition...Genres are vague categories with no fixed boundaries, they are formed by sets of conventions...

Ecchi and Harem are ALSO not genres, but I can understand putting them up. But Mecha should be up there if Ecchi and Harem are.

I don't really have a favorite genre, I care more about how a story is told than what kind of story it is. For me the biggest thing is characters. If I love the characters then I will keep watching, even if the plot isn't that amazing.

I voted for drama, because dramas generally have a little bit of everything in it. I would have voted for psychological if you put it up, though.

Romance... Comedy... and Slice of Life dominated this poll...

funny thing is, they're almost always together in an anime... Romance, Comedy and Slice of Life...

EDIT: I love Romance, Comedy and Slice of Life. I vote for Slice of Life cause it usually involve all 3 ^_^ And I'm rather fond of slice of life lately

(Why there isn't Shonen-ai/yaoi or Shojo-ai/yuri?)

Comedy, horror, mystery, psychological, shonen-ai and yaoi.

Harem is my most favorite genre and I do not really care what other genres its mixed in just as long as it is not mixed in with sports or some type of Pokemon/Yugio/Digimon BS.

My Neighbor Revolutionary Serial Experiments Mononoke Shoujo Princess Egg Cocoon Cubes Brain Survivor Azumanga Kure-nai Renmei: The End of The Legend of The Koi Gakuen Utopia Kaiba Tales, Yesterday.

Now there's an anime for you.

On topic: Nothing beats a good drama anime, apart from maybe Lain and Azumanga, but even then...
