So I'm trying to get my friend to watch anime, and I'd like some recommendations for him... It certainly shouldn't be any harem/romance/thing like that because he'd probably think that anime in general is weird af. It also shouldn't be too long and boring, he can be a little bit impatient at times.
I was thinking of parasyte, it's a pretty good one and doesn't have too much weird shit, what do you think?

My favorite quotes from animes:

Those who seek miracles will never experience one. The hand of salvation only extends to people
who try to make miracles happen. - Ef a tale of melodies.
I destroy worlds. I create worlds. - Code geass
We are humans. - Shinsekai yori
100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and a 10km run EVERY SINGLE DAY!!! - One punch man

Hunter x Hunter 2011 Has slow start but if you get him up to episode 7 he will most likely keep watching.(it got me into anime and it's my fav of all)
Death Note seems to be most MAL users' starting anime so you could try that.
Sword Art Online is very enticing for a first time anime watcher(i testify). but u said no romance so...
Attack on Titan is beastly and was HUGELY popular in the west.
Hellsing Ultimate is just as gory if not more than AOT.
Parasyte is also a good choice.
Durarara!! if he likes a good storytelling.

Stuff other people recommend for first time watchers:
Code Geass
Black Lagoon
One Piece
Monster
Mirai Nikki
Shinsekai Yori
Black Lagoon
Akame ga Kill[
Read Toriko!

I also vote for a movie:
Summer Wars
Mononoke Hime
Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica (1st two movies = TV series)
Paprika

Series composed of shorter story arcs:
Black Lagoon - I'm more partial to the Second Barrage myself.
Level E - If he liked the movie Men in Black, he'll probably like this.
Death Parade - Dark, intriguing and well-produced.
The advantage of series like these is you can skip over arcs that don't hold your attention. Your friend might appreciate that.

Parasyte is a good choice if you're looking for a longer series. I'd try Kill la Kill as well. It's totally over-the-top; you friend will either love it or hate it.

Sword Art Online - I didn't really like it, but it was my first anime and the one that got me into anime really. I liked the first part but after was kinda bad. It seems a lot of people love this anime, especially newbies. Even some friends who don't really watch anime have watched this one.

I think Parasyte's a pretty nice option, also... Soul Eater (it's longer but it's pretty entertaining so there's that) :D

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood? It's slightly longer than the other ones suggested, but it's impossible not to enjoy it.

Also, maybe as your friend what genre of books/movies he enjoys? Maybe that would help?

Another - short, engaging and has enough impact to remember it.
