In Railgun, Mikoto is portrayed more tomboy and has only two or three episodes with Touma. In Railgun S however, they go more in depth with the sisters experiments giving her better characterization.

The whole cast of Mirai Nikki.
There were like 2-3 okay characters, but I don't think I've had the displeasure to watch a show with a worse set of characters. Yuno was the worst though, so annoying.
