Is Detective Conan(Case Closed) still relevant today, or popular?

I don't get what is epic about it (Re:Zero) - mainly torture porn and teen anxieties.
People love drama and popular stuff, this is why it is so well received, not because of the the serialization or the overarching mysteries.
Also yanderes, people now love yanderes. (I am sooo old, I like tsunderes...)

Darling in the Franx doesn't strike me as epic too. Gundam Build Divers has better action...and it is mainly gunpla advertisement. People are watching Franx for the teen drama not for the epicness.


Detective Conan is old fashioned and kind of low key. Also has some children as main characters - people assume automatically it is kodomo.
Mystery is not so popular now days and the anime adaption has one big flow in comparison with the manga - it rearranges the arcs. This is a major issue because in manga those BO and other hints/developments are happening on regular base but in anime they are very uneven especially with the accumulation of filler episodes.

Favourite male in Conan is easily Heiji with Akai and Shinichi following second. I also really like Sonoko's boyfriend and the Shogi player, Shukichi, that's dating Yumi. Favourite female is Shinichi's mother! :) I alsooooo really like Jodie sensei.

Yeah Heiji is awesome, my favourite is Shinichi though. Regarding female characters I like Ai Haibara the most, her past with the BO and overall personality make her the most interesting for me. Wish she would get more focus

What do you think about Ran? She seems divisive in the Detective Conan western fandom, at least from what I have seen on other DC forums. She is a bit boring but I don't dislike her and think she is important.

Shinichi is great, but we never get to see him :c I guess I like Heiji more because he's less overpowered haha. Ai is great, I like her as well! She would also be one of my favourites. I hope she gets more character development/focus too.

Ran is...Ran, I guess? She's cute but I find her kind of bland overall. Just the heroine/love interest of our main character. She is definitely one of the most important but I wish she'd be more involved sometimes other than be used for.. kicking people LOL

We definitely need more Shinichi, the episodes with him are usually fantastic and some of the best of the series. Heiji is definitely more normal, although pretty OP for his age as well. I like the Conan and Heiji bromance.

We can only hope, it feels like the mangaka kind of stopped caring for her, she isn't very relevant anymore now that we have so many other characters involved in the main story.

Yeah thats the problem with Ran, she isn't bad but kind of boring and pretty stale for the whole series so far. We got much more interesting female characters with Ai, Jodie, Vermouth etc. I have the same problem with Kazuha too but at least she isn't the main love interest.

Yeah. It's more focused on Sera, Bourbon and of course, Akai/FBI. They even focus a lot on the random side characters like the police...Even going as far to introducing more romances in there like Chiba and Miike. Too random.

Right!! The other female characters have much more to them. Ran's just good at fighting and cares for him :/ Kazuha is also boring lol. But she's good for Heiji and they have a lovely childhood of course.

I don't mind discussing further! :) "Clash of Red and Black" and "The Jet-Black Mystery Train" are one of my favourites. I just love anything with Akai and FBI mentioned because it's so plot twisty!! Top 3 favourite cases would be Moonlight Sonata, The Gathering of the Detectives! Shinichi Kudo vs. Kaitou Kid and The Twenty Year Old Murderous Intent: The Symphony Serial Murder Case. I generally enjoy cases that are on trains/boats/airplanes and then followed by cases in a house far away in the woods. :> It always makes it super exciting when they're isolated somewhere. How about you?

I like Takagi x Sato as well! I wish they would just relax with all the pairings. Since Chiba and Miike aren't that interesting together. We already have like... 10 different pairings which are "childhood friends into lovers" LOLOL

Yeah, the build up for the Vermouth Arc was fantastic. I love it when they put small things in the side cases and then push it back into a full case later on.

If only the anime had more main story episodes, I'd be more hyped for the Rum arc ;-;

I rewatch those as well! I've been collecting the manga lately and I read my favourite cases in their manga form. :> It's a nice way to "rewatch" stuff.

Oh yessss. Definitely enjoy those ones. If it rings a bell, it means I really liked it!

I also dislike Detective Boys cases on the most part. Not that many tricks or twists. Just the boys doing actual kid stuff, like finding a stray cat lol. Basic stuff. And when it gets darker, the most that happens is Ayumi or Conan gets kidnapped and they have to be rescued. So lame :c I prefer an actual case with a backstory and the adults/police involving in it.

I love the movies actually! Not all of them but most of them were a blast. Some are great to watch if you enjoy Main Story stuff, since it's heavily related to BO. Personally, my favourite movies are 5 and followed by 6. 5 is legit so thriller and fun to watch, it has the most climatic scenes I've ever seen in any DC movie/special/episode! :) The big difference is that NONE of the movies have any... crazy trick with the murders. It relies on action, thrill and excitement more than strategic stuff. I like having that variety tho.

Yes I've actually watched every filler LOL. I watched all the main story episodes first while watching a few fillers on the side and I slowly caught up to the current episodes. Most fillers are like 6/10 at best sadly :( But I do enjoy cases with more than one episode at least. You just can't pull off a cool case in an episode.

YES I hate how close she gets lol. Come on, it's been like 800+ episodes. I wish she would find out and help him out. Then, it wouldn't be that strange. Kogoro... doesn't need to know lol

Yeah it's great for when you want something with less problem solving. Kick back and enjoy the ride :> A lot of the movies have a fair amount of Shinichi x Ran so it's nice to see that cute romance.

I hope it ends in the next 2 years. But that's impossible considering the manga only goes that fast and Aoyama will never drop info that quickly and throw main story cases into the manga. It's a cash cow after all. The longer it gets, the more $$$. I'd like to see everything tied up at least. I want to see everything explained, the BO's motives, every single character exposed (lack of better word but you get what I mean).
