Which one do you think was the BEST our of the seven movies (not including epilogue or other recaps). Also feel free to post other movies you think are almost as good (or tie for first/second place and so on) :)

I'll start this off.

In terms of pure action, I think the fifth movie takes the medal here. However, if you consider other aspects of the show like story, character growth, soundtracks, et cetera, then I think the seventh one is a bit better (plus a happier-than-novel ending...IMO). So I'd say it is a draw between fifth and seventh ... the only two that got a 10 from me :)

Satsujin Kousatsu Part 1 is the best. Very intense and suspenseful episode that literally makes you sit on the edge of your chair, with great character development as well. The episode that makes the best use of the setting, the atmosphere and the characters.

Mujun Rasen is clearly the worst. Stupid villains, as if they were taken from some crappy shounen for 14 year olds, so unfitting for a mature show like KnK, and no development whatsoever.

Overall, I must admit KnK was quite meh. :/

Doh, I really can't say.

I've voted for the 5th part because, as kaminakun said, was best it terms of atmosphere and action (the first I've rated 10). I think it's the fact that it's 2 hours long that makes me decide so. With twice the length of the other movies (except of 7) there was just much more room to go in-depth with the story.
However, I really liked the setting of the 6th part and the 7th movie is just plain awesomeness in it's purest form!

Overall prefer the second half of the series, but it's hard to choose a top favourite.

A real hard choice. I'll rewatch them all in the next weeks and then come back to this topic. I'll probably either be 5 or 6.

Mujun Rasen was was the best with Satsujin Kousatsu Part 2 trailing close behind. Araya makes his role as the signature magus of the Type-Moon universe, seeking his goal too save humanity from itself by studying the the very thing he intends to erase. And the incorporation of his magic that Nasu puts into his works always draws me in with its nonsensical yet logical elements.

Satsujin Kousatsu Part 2 had alot of merits of its own such as the philosophy of what makes murder and a delve into Shilki as a character. I can't find a genuine flaw with it personally but my Type-Moon fandom just has me enjoying the universe created physics of Mujun Rasen more.

Now that I think about it, Mujun Rasen is similar to Fate/Stay Night with its use of magic in the Nasuverse and Satsujin Kousatsu Part 2 was similar to Tsukihime with it's use of murder and the mentality of the characters in general to a degree, which is weird to me since I like Tsukihime more.... But maybe I'm just drawing comparisons where there are little to none.

The 5th one was my favorite. Although the latest has also left me amazed therefore it's a close second. Each installment was beautifully interlocked with each other.

You comparisons are valid in my eyes ^^ I too, see the similarities that you pointed out. I also enjoy Tsukihime more than Fate/stay Night. Therefore, I like Satsujin Kousatsu Part 2 just a tiny bit more :)

You know, it is pretty good insight, and I tend to agree with it (also in terms of preference to Tsukihime).
For picking which of those two I like better though, it's a tough call. I'd say Mujun Rasen just edges out Satsujin Kousatsu 2, but it's to the point that I have to start nit picking to choose.

Mujun Rasen.

I was never as astonished as I was when I watched it. The pinnacle of animation. Satsujin Kousatsu part 2 was good, yes, but I think that 5 was the best movie ever.

its hard to decide, I love all of KnK movies to death! but if really compared, i think I love 1, 5, and (2) 7 the most.

The first movie was definitive the most suspenseful one in my opinion, with those fascinating sound its just undenialble~
The 5th movie is most ingenious one, it gives audience a lot of room for the mind~
The 7th, I think has to be most enjoyable one and leaves the audience most satisfied (lol?), with awesome action like of movie 3 and character development like in movie 6~

But, since Im a total fan of twisted plot, I think I must choose 5 here over the others~ (and 1 would be my next choice then 7...)

They're all amazing, but the 4th is the best for me. I loved seeing Shiki have to come to terms with her newfound abilities, the loss of her other half, and beginning her struggle to fill the Hollow Shrine.

And I'll go toe-to-toe with anyone who thinks the 6th was in any ways sub-par. With the last one out, it just confirms itself as being the perfect bridge between 5 and 7. It gave the series one final moment to take a breath before plunging down into the finale's heart of darkness.

This is hard.I voted for part 7 because it is so fresh in my memory. But the 5th one was VERY good(From all of the 7 I gave a 10 for only 5th and 7th).I guess it depends on how you look at it.If you judge movies as stand-alones,then 5th one would be the best, but if you judge it as part of a franchise than the last one is the best.

Satsujin Kousatsu (Part 2) wraps the story perfectly but in my opinion, Mujun Rasen still top it in terms of action and plot-twist.

Would certainly rewatch all of them soon.

I think mujun rasen is the best in both story and action. I mean it's complicated enough and having animation wise (make you had a headache for a while after watching this :P). The atmosphere of the movie is very interesting. Well, 7th is nice though but somehow the plot has nothing surprise, but well the animation is nice and the story is more dramatic (and cheesy) ^^"

overall these movie series are one of the best I have ever watched. Thank a lot ufotable!!!

I would say Mujun Rasen was the best. I personally found Araya to be much more interesting than Lio. Although I must say all that talk about the "Origin" started to fuck with my head. The 7th movie was great too. There was more character development in the 7th, but the 5th had better action. As far as music, they are tied, but then again all the movies have amazing soundtracks. Its close, but I would say that the 5th movie wins out in the end.

Seriously, I think only the 7th movie deserved the hype it gets. It was a great movie. The rest I thought were too bland for my tastes.

But if I were to rank them in order from most favorite to least favorite, it would be: 7 > 5 > 2 > 1 > 4 > 3 > 6. Ahh, I'm having a hard time putting 1 and 4 in order too...

Personally, for me:

7>3>1>5>2>4>6

7th personally made me hold the KnK franchise in high regard after the heavy disappointment from number 6. I could once again see the series as deep, philosophical, haunting, intelligent, dark, beautiful, mysterious and emotional thanks to a great villain. Also, really loved the ending and how the characters became fully fleshed out.

1,2 and 3 were both great as they delved deeply into the psyche of the characters and the sometimes on the moralities; such as of taking a life and whether the murderer was always the reveal more detestable, despicable.

I would have enjoyed 4, 5 and 6 more had they not revealed Touko being a magus and that villainous clown guy in number 5 was just terrible and pointless. Araya was cool, but lackingy. Also, Azaka having powers and fighting (sure, I understand that this is an alternate universe of Tsukihime/MB and she's actually Akiha) was rather unwarranted. They were still good, but the setting built by the previous series seemed to diminish; until number 7 that is.
