Nope, pretty sure it's based on the second part of the original game, since the first OVA season was Sylvarant.

It's for the GameCube, and it's only the second part of the game. Though the game has 2 discs. You did actually go to Tethe'alla on the first disc, alot of Tethe'alla. You we're only about a quarter, if that, at the end of the first Symphonia OVA.
(I have no idea how the second part is gonna work, no doubt it will skip alot out).

The Symphonia for the Wii "Dawn" or "Symphonia 2" as some people call it. Is for the Wii but it is unknown if they'll make a anime from that.
Though I wouldnt mind wanting one ._. i'm one of the people who loved the game, even if it was short and linear.

The series may be more closely linked to the manga, which follows a similar line to the game but misses several key part and characters

Very true, I never thought of that.

It may follow the Manga, but iirc the manga did follow the Game Storyline perfectly with just missing a few points out. The Anime has not done this at all. One of the main parts being the reasons why the Desians attacked Iselia, or the fact Lloyd is the only one of the Sylvarant Party Members to carry a Exsphere =/

Yes, the manga was extremely close to the game, though minus side quests and what not.

The anime however will confuse the shit out of anyone who hasn't touched the game. Which is why I sort of advise anyone who hasn't played, not to watch. It only gives them an excuse to rate the anime poorly and call it too confusing.

Which most people unfortunately do. The only Tales Anime you can watch outright would be "Tales of the Abyss". For the "Symphonia", "Phantasia", and "Eternia" Animes you NEED to play, complete or atleast have seen the game. As for the Vesperia Film, it's a prequal so I assume you can watch that without playing the game.

People who are still looking forward to the "Tethe'alla Episode" Chapter and dont keep tabs on it. They have finally released the opening, so here you go~

The anime has already been released, and yes! It has been subbed.

Here is the first episode: http://www.gogoanime.com/tales-of-symphonia-tethealla-hen-episode-1

(The first version is of greater quality than the second but when it shifts to the second part it misses about a 4-5 minute fraction of the anime so you should go to version 2 and skip to that scene =3)

In my opinion its been greatly done, unlike the first one when it skips its more fitting than the total "Quick-Jump" spaz the like the first 4 OVA's. The fight scenes are also done very well. But the anime has still followed the "made-for-convienience" route and changed things, "alot" in some factors too speed things up.
