Yuu has character development. Its clumsiness and lack of intrigue doesn't invalidate its existence.

First off, still no explanation as to why Yuu would even remember an event from a completely separate timeline from what he went through, not to mention the fact that he actually remembers a person (the scientist dude) who died in said timeline WHICH YUU NEITHER EXPERIENCED NOR SHOULD HAVE ANY MEMORY OF.

Reminds me of Reading Steiner.

But seriously, why can't Yuu just time leap back before Pooh got kidnapped. The terrorists won't know that Yuu can time-leap if Pooh didn't get interrogated.

Their" syndicate" really has no backbone. 4 foreigners, 2 adults and 2 strength ability users, destroy their entire syndicate because of this one guys family. Have they ever thought of destroying the invaders and saving the family through use of military might and political strings? Uh oh, no other choice but to send yu. Um. Maybe use your head? It was really just a way to showcase him as the protagonist and to have some loss for tears or something. Not a well developed event.

Even so , how the terrorist would know that he have time leaped if they don't know ( or even BELIEVE ) that yuu can timeleap ?

Make no sense to me

You forget his most significant "character development" seems to have been conveniently reset by his time leap to save Ayumi, ergo all that pandering he did when he was asked by Shunske to save Nao and Pooh.

Did he immediately go "Oh shit, my love interest is in trouble, I have to go save her!"?
Nope, he acted all scared and shit and said "I can't do that crap, even though I know that I stole all those awesome abilities and can use them now, I'm just a good looking dude who cheats at tests.. Don't send me out there! I don't wanna go!"

Dear god, shit has hit the fan way harder than I would have thought...
Who the hell are these scumbags? How do they even know about Yuu ability? With all the timeleap Shun did, and the fact that Yuu never used his other powers after the last timeleap, I just don't get how they could even be aware of that.

Torture scene made me cringe. That was pretty heavy. Nao stripped down almost me spit my drink. Dear lord, I hope she wasn't raped... After MGS:GZ, I've lost a bit of fate into that.

I'm not going to devellope more on how that episode was rushed. I think that everybody could feel it. It's a bit sad because it's yet another show that suffer from episode limitation. If it had 16 episodes, I'm sure they could have put it just fine, but now there is only 2 episodes left and waaaay too many plot left.

Pooh, why It had to be you? T.T
I don't think the cut on Yuu's eye was that deep... plus, Yuu had his eye closed when the girl attacked him (it was slashed not stabbed). He just needed light to use the power right? so even if he got his eye damaged, maybe he can see light throw it? The whole scene was so stupid, he had time to kill all the badies, but did nothing, hell no! he collapsed the whole bulding and killed nobody except Pooh.

I think the funniest thing about the writing is that the author attempted to give an explanation as to why they couldn't just time leap but just dug himself further into a hole. The height of the drama in this show should have been with the little sister dying and getting rescued. They shouldn't have tried to introduce another antagonist who had zero development into the show and basically use him to create a scenario to kill a character for.... the feels I guess?

Also did anyone notice that telekinesis and pyromancy are probably the second strongest abilities? They are the only other ones that seem complete and have no side affects or weird limitations. The reason I point this out is because it seems inconsistent with the running theme that almost all the abilities have handicaps. It's also a bit amusing that the MCs brother is so easily telling him to use time leap when he knows it will eventually cause him to go blind. It's like they conveniently forgot that for a minute, but I don't really know how many times he has to use it before his vision starts being adversely affected so w/e.

What a load of turd.

Tell me again why Maeda is so hyped again? This is borderline trash atm. I cannot describe how contrived and stupid this episode was. He should really avoid writing such edge because it's laughable.

Because you have to be able to see with both eyes in order to use timeleap. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to become blind if you are already partially blind.

humans have flaws, fears and make mistakes.
because you will not watch shounen where we have perfect protagonists who do not make mistakes, failures and is not afraid, and the armor plot still helping them.

Humans are fickle people, they do not change overnight, they feel fear, make mistakes and show weaknesses.

it's hard for you to understand the complexity of a character, when you have as one of their favorite animes ''Sword Art Online'', which has as its protagonist a perfect gary stu self-insertion.

Bell another protagonist a perfect gary stu self-insertion.

really is the kind of answer you can find of shounen fans.

Charlotte is still pretty meh though but yes it is far better than SAO.

Anime is good, fucking deal with it.

I just don't see why Maeda hasn't wrote at least a 2-cour series. Key and PA have money, and he is always used to longer stories (except in Angel Beats case). So why does he refrain from doing it?

To be frank, I don't like the direction Charlotte is taking. PA has been doing its job well in the last episodes, but I can't see how the story can end well with so few time left. Yusa and Takajou were, like, cut off from the series and got 0 importance up to now. Besides, the seiyuus aren't helping it too...

It's nothing compared to some of higurashi's torture scenes XD. Also higurashi actually had a decent balance of light and dark compared to char-lol-ette.

First, Kirito isn't a perfect gary stu. He is very weak inside.

Second, there's no way Charlotte is better than SAO. Even LB! isn't.

well since things came to this,rather see Yuu going all nuts and killing everyone.

Get an eye transplant or something rob every damn ability he can time leap and start kill people.Maybe leave that idol chick alive?

After all is dead he can bang her and live happily ever after.

In this show you do not need char development,the chars asking questions they should,or having the least ammount of brain to act in certain situations.So just make it completely random till the end lol.

Not sure, but isn't it up to the studio whether they want to do a 1 cour or 2 cour anime? IIRC I heard AB was supposed to be 2 cour but that was changed by the studio so Jun Maeda had to change the script I think.

@OT
What an episode...though I'm a little confused by the decisions they made (and the whole " we will notice any anomality" thing if Yuu time traveled...didn't make much sense since the timeline would be altered so they wouldn't even be aware of those things I imagine...)

2 episodes to go, I wonder how Yuu and Co will fix this mess.

But PA had no reason not to do it 2-cour. Angel Beats! was a VERY successful series, so they could put their trust in Maeda. Besides, they've already done Nagiasu, which was 2-cour.

I like how almost everyone here thinks they're some kinda literary geniuses lol After analyzing the episode a bit, the things that I didn't like were:
- It was rushed, oh and we wasted time with them playing games and all that stuff;
- Nao being in her underwear had no purpose, again they tried to imply that she got tortured or just beat up... and tried to be humiliating... but what's the point if you're not gonna show it, and have her in her underwear... if she was dressed it would've been better;
- The fact that Yuu could've used his timeleap right after he heard Pooh got captured... and all this drama could've been avoided;
- The villains popping out of nowhere, and seemed to know stuff about Yuu;
- More proper explanation on the abilities... did not knew you need both eyes to timeleap... etc.

Seriously I would've preferred if this had more episodes... This episode was extremely rushed and it just relies on the "WTF" factor, because of what happened to Pooh and it's like a 'device' to make people forget about the bad writing, because who cares about that when a characters dies. Just my opinion on this :)

Charlotte has serious problems of script.
The story is interesting but is poorly executed at hour to get off the paper.
Pretty much the same problem presented by Aldnoa.Zero

Except, A/Z's story on season 2 wasn't interesting at all, because the villain was just acting like crazy for absolutely no reason, and this was the core of the conflict.

What were the terrorists planning on doing, anyway? Use Yuu somehow? How would they even be able to do that without him killing them? I figured they would shoot him with a tranquilizer dart or something to incapacitate him, but all they did was stab out his eye so he can't time leap and then wait to be defeated.

Ok, now MC remember what he shouldn't even know in the first place... An evil gang so late in the game to put angst in? And how they even tell if past is going to change? wtf? Not to mention Yuu's nerve breakdown when his brother told him what needs to be done - then why he even went through everything before when he didn't changed, I thought he was.. the hell? To mess the continuity and the plot this hard.. Plot devices, plot devices everywhere!

All characters are just railroading their role for the sake of the story, they are not even trying to act for themselves... this is pretty cringeworthy. Not to mention they intentionally made another situation main character would need to correct by time travel.

This all reminds me of Straczynski's Rising Stars though he actually wrote it like 100x better than this nonsense.

Oh, and the drama in the end... it was bad, really bad. Like you can stop beton concrete with your own body. And they are unable to time-leap now. This show has to end and soon, this is not even trainwreck anymore, they are just throwing in random things o_O

Jun Maeda has been better than that.

Death forced to say that it is ' standard anime Key' with deaths and tragedies , the episode would to be extended for at least two episodes, information and played explanations in the air , it seems that the Kubo doing with Bleach , running just to finish the creating history fanservice , killing characters and pushing it in EVERYTHING.

The good thing is that at least explained everything , but now what?

What is the center of the story ?

Do not have a plot , definitely . I will wait for over these last two episodes , if you have a twist or something great, will be the worst work the key, albeit only Jun Maeda working on something can not be considered the Key, as much as he is the screenwriter , Naga always helped in assembling the script.

they obtained the information through Kumagami during his torture.
Kumagami was the right arm of Shun.
He probably knew about everything.

They even made sure to say that this has been planned for YEARS. And Ayumi surviving and Yuu approaching them should have done nothing to derail it - so Kumagami should still have been captured and tortured in the timeline where Ayumi dies, but instead he meets Yuu and Nao after the former collapses at the concert as if nothing as happened.

Nice plot hole there, Maeda.
