| For me, personal hygiene is the most important thing. If the potential person smells bad or too strong (like too much perfume or whatever), even if they were funny, smart, good-looking, rich, I really wouldn't give any fucks about them. You smell like old sweat/piss/dickcheese/too much perfume/whatever weird shit=nope. This also applies to friendships. Sensitive nose sucks. |

| Haven't we got enough threads like this? Anyway, I'd say it's 90% personality for me, and 10% looks. I can appreciate someone who looks attractive, but being good-looking doesn't interest me enough to get to know that guy's personality any more than someone who's less good-looking. I'd say clothing and personal hygiene pays a bigger factor on first impressions than physical appearance. I don't really notice what kinds of clothes people wear for the most part, but if someone has very unkempt hair and dirty clothing, it's usually a good indication that he/she doesn't care much about themselves. Not saying I'd avoid these people like the plague, there was a guy like this in my college, and he actually turned out to be pretty cool. I digress though, being dirty is going to give me a bad first impression, I must admit. But other than that, I don't think my opinion really sways either way with people based on physical appearance alone. Maybe it does sub-consciously though, who knows. |
