Comic Natalie announced that the manga Bungou Stray Dogs will receive an anime adaptation in 2016. The anime's official site also revealed that Takuya Igarashi (Darker than Black: Kuro no Keiyakusha) will direct the work, while Yoji Enokido (Top wo Nerae 2! Diebuster) will be in charge of the screenplay. Animation production will be done by studio Bones.

Bungou Stray Dogs is a manga series written by Kafka Asagiri and illustrated by Harukawa35. It has been serialized in Young Ace since 2012, and there are currently seven volumes in print, with the eighth to be published on September 4. The seventh manga volume has sold a cumulative 97,199 copies as of its third week on Oricon's weekly rankings.

Synopsis
Nakajima Atsushi was kicked out of his orphanage, and now he has no place to go and no food. While he is standing by a river, on the brink of starvation, he rescues a man whimsically attempting suicide. That man is Dazai Osamu, and he and his partner Kunikida are members of a very special detective agency. They have supernatural powers and deal with cases that are too dangerous for the police or the military. They're tracking down a tiger that has appeared in the area recently, around the time Atsushi came to the area. The tiger seems to have a connection to Atsushi, and by the time the case is solved, it is clear that Atsushi's future will involve much more of Dazai and the rest of the detectives! Bones: Noragami Season 2, Concrete Revolutio, Akagami S2, Bungoku Stray Dogs

Wow. Their lineup is getting strong now.
I hope they properly adapt this though. It will likely be a 1 cour.

Very, very interesting and seems to be pretty groovy, as Bones shows usually are.

Blatant fujoshi bait as far as character designs are concerned, but it sounds pretty interesting and it's being done by Bones. Will most likely watch.

I don't like the character design whatsoever. The premise and story seem ok though.

Yeah, no. This is the second time in one month I'm saying this. Both ecchi and fujoshi anime get equal hate on MAL.

Doesn't seem shit. No apparent black flags. I'd rather have fujoshi bait than the usual light novel bullcrap tbh...

Will check out

Fujoshi bait or not, I'll probably end up checking this out.

Hopefully it doesn't end up being shit though.

Character designs are nice. Not sure what to make of the story, but I will be checking it out. Bones is working on it too so I'm hoping it will look lovely.

O~h! I'm happy for the mangaka (edit: mainly meant the one in charge of the art)!
So many anime adaptions of works I know (→ going to watch), looks like I'll be unusually busy in the future, haha.
(Edit: And now that I think about it, there appear to be more developments for mystery-themed works nowadays. Someone else had pointed this out before this announcement and now I cannot help but agree.)

some mild mannered comments, big deal.
Where is all the bashing and saying it's complete sht and garbage?

There is less hate because being fujoshi bait isn't all there is to these shows. In fact it's usually only a very small part of it (the char designs). Stuff like Gangsta might fall under that category but it still has decent character writing etc.
Your average ecchi show doesn't have that.

Also this is Studio Bones, not Diomedea or some trash tier studio that are way more prone to produce low risk low key ecchi titles. You won't be getting eye cancer from this.

Did you not see all the bashing for Boueibu season 2? Also, there aren't that many fujoshi shows/shows aimed at female otaku when compared to LN adaptations. And like TheNaturalPrem said (I don't agree with his full reply), just because it has pretty boys doesn't automatically make it a reverse harem or yaoi. Eg. Kuroko no Basuke, Haikyuu!, Gangsta, Durarara!!, Tiger and Bunny etc.

You are a really ignorant person if you think girls, women, and people who aren't dudes don't receive "proper bashing" on the internet let alone this site lol please.

Anyways I hope this is a good adaptation, and really gay ;)

Ecchi shows do have decent writing especially compared to gangsta, maybe if you take your hate glasses off you'll see it.
Diomedea does good work considering their budget and if they had a big budget they'd put Bones to shame.

That was the typical crybaby wailing's cause their favorite shows didn't get a new season, instead of real bashing.

so the author thinks he's being cool by naming the characters after famous japanese authors and naming their special moves after one of their works

It's just what other people think. So what?
Quit complaining just because your tastes are 'supposedly' thought less of than others' tastes. They're just male/female mirrored versions of each other.

Damn unfortunate its fujoshit. I was hoping for another Hyoka in the making
Let’s say you drink too much strawberry milk, and have to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. You don’t want to get up, but the urge to urinate is just too strong! You run to the bathroom, stand in front of the toilet, and let loose! You think that all your life has led to this moment! YOU'RE STILL IN BED! That feeling of lukewarm wetness spreads! But you can’t stop! THAT’S THE TRUTH OF THE STRAWBERRY MILK! DO YOU GET IT? ~ Gintoki

Read a few chapters of this a while back, noticed absolutely no signs of this so called "obvious fujoshi-bait" everyone keeps complaining about.
Seemed to have a decent amount of action, instead.
Oh, wait, it also features CONTEMPORARY Japanese authors?
As well as Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Agatha Christie, and Dan Brown?
... Okay, count me in.
Fingers crossed for a Natsuhiko Kyogoku cameo:D
But all the clocks in the city
Began to whirr and chime:

Been reading the manga for quite some time and honestly it's nothing special. It's basically a huge lump of shounen cliches with authors' names tacked on, which retains very little of their unique traits albeit just some little superficials here and there. On the other hand, the artwork is beautiful and very pleasing to look at. And while the mysteries occured in the series are nothing to write home about, the characters' interactions while solving them are more than enough to make up for it. Overall not bad, but not very good either. Just enough to make for a decent time waster.

Also, kudos for BONES for adapting this kind of stuff. They're one of reasons for anime's diversity nowadays.

Anyway, it look good. Hope for TV series. Oh, and I hope the story start with a good way. Not like Karneval.
