Have any of you actually paid Import/Customs duties and fees?

I've imported a bunch of dvds and BDs from Japan (box sets, art books and magazines), UK (box sets) and Australia (The Azumanga Daioh and Nichijou dvds) and not once have I paid import or customs duties or fees. I went to the US Customs Agency website and it said I had to pay import and customs when the value of the item is more than $150 or so (I had bought the Japanese BD box set for Panty and Stocking that ended up costing around $250), but nobody ever came to me or gave me a notice, I was never told where to go or who to meet to pay for them, so I never did. Have any of you ever had to pay them? I recently bought the Steins;Gate movie box set and am waiting for another Limited Edition box set to come in the mail from Japan next week and the 3rd Kill la Kill box set from the UK, so the thought that I'll get a knock on the door for not paying the duties always creeps up from the back of my mind.

Your packages are probably tagged as gifts and the prices get marked down to avoid the customs charges. And no I haven't, I ordered all 20-ish volumes of KnB from Japan and books don't have custom fees, they were also labeled as gifts.

Very rarely. Most packages sent to me are marked as gifts, and have little to no value declared on them.

I've never asked sellers to do this, but many do it out of the kindness of their heart, because shipping prices are insane.

Do you know that every time I purchase a DVD from RightStuf, that it costs me $20 to have just one DVD shipped to me?

Not yet. I bought overly expensive toy from Japan and didn't have to pay anything else beside the items and shipping.

That hasn't happened to me before, the worst I've got was a very small fee from the CC company that's deducted from the balance and not $100 either, it more like 4.
