I'm watching an old romance anime called Miyuki and so far it's probably the best anime I've seen in terms of its romance aspect. It made me curious about other romance anime.

For me I find that Romeo x Juliet, Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso is the kind of romance that I like. Tragedy works best with Romance.
Your taste in Anime is shit.

Because you can't differentiate between what's good and bad.

How sad.

I hate it when the story sits and spins it's wheels forever.

That said: if Jitsu wa Watachi wa follows the manga I have high hopes.

Golden Time!

It is one of the strongest representations of what going through a relationship can actually be like. Minus some very specific elements to the characters, I saw many parallels in it to things that occurred in my past relationships, both the good and the bad. Plus it shows excellent growth in both the male and female characters, that sadly many people seemed to overlook, especially in Kouko's case. It's one I would strongly recommend to any big fan of romance.

I've got plenty of catcher's mits ready for the hate I'll receive on this one. :P

From what I've seen, I enjoyed Kimi ni Todoke the best. It's a calm, bubbly romance with nice people being nice to each other, limiting the complicated stuff that fluff up other romances. In pure romances, there's no action or dramatic plots, so to keep the audience's attention, there seems to be a need for misunderstandings, love polygons, and interference from parents/bureaucracies/peers/etc. So, it's great to see a show where it's just the characters hanging out with each other. Of course, the misunderstandings in the second season was pretty rough, giving me mixed feelings about the series overall. The first season was great though.

Also, it's hilarious in thought to see Hell Girl's Enma Ai act as a girl who is constantly mistaken for another similar long dark-haired girl who brings death.

Amagami SS. Plays it straight. No bullshit. Consistent character development. MC iant a cuck and gets shit done. Every girl gets their time to shine. No nasty excessive fan service. No harem bullshit. Doesn't just end it after the first kiss.

White Album 2 because muh flawed people are realistic !!1! Seriously though, I like the Samurai X OVA, Kaiba, Nana, Princess Tutu. Usually romance rooted in tragedy is what I favour.

This would probably be the 2nd best for me.

Clannad: After Story, I feel, has done romance correctly. It shows what it truly means to be in love..

TBH, still don't find in anime. most of their atmosphere building and script are suck, don't have big impact in final episode/arc, and it's drama doesn't works (feel soo forced). even 2 of my favorite manga (last game and game over) are great romance BTW. honorable mentions: taiyou no ie, koe no katachi and good ending.

i like it when the story is flowing, not forcing. and the character developing each other, when their feeling change and their action follow it.

Tasogare Otome x Amnesia is one of my favourites, as someone stated above tragedy goes best with romance

Akagami no Shirayukihime is probably my most favourite full romance manga/anime(ongoing) cause even thought its a light read/watch the developement EACH character gets is brilliantly written, and it also doesn't get 100 chapters for the main couple to become official, 10 chapters and that's it, after that it's developement time

As a longshot, Medaka Box, which is my all time favourite manga, it IS a shounen but in terms of romance it has one of the best in my opinion, both protagonists have insande character developement as the plot carries on

Not sure if you are interested but might as well mention it,best romance of all time for me is in Tales of Xillia 1-2, ps3 game(avatar and signature), jrpg really anime-like as every Tales of,with animated scenes from Ufotable (fk yes), nothing can beat that in my opinion

While I've enjoyed many of the more 'centric' romances--Hana Yori Dango, WA2, Emma, Winter Sonata, Nodame--I believe I've come to prefer those that answer a very basic question in the affirmative: "Am I still intrigued without it?" Unfortunately, that species of anime too often seems to be the target of writers who attempt to force-feed us romance where doesn't belong, isn't consistent with established characters, or lacks the creative setups which makes the genre special in the first place. I suppose I'd count Koi Kaze, Honey and Clover, and Tatami Galaxy among my favorites for their superb use of layering.

Off of the top of my head, I really liked Kimi ni Todoke and Itazura na Kiss.

Kimi ni Todoke - It's a really innocent, cute type of love that I prefer. Instead of just showing their love grow, they grew themselves as well. The drama was hard to watch through, but it's honestly what made it all the more better.

Itazura na Kiss - The slice of life feel and comedy really did it for this one. I liked how it was different from the other type of romance I've seen since their families live together and go all the way into college rather than just high school.

White Album 2. It is a pretty serious romance, barely any comedy. It does what it needs to and gets out, unlike a bunch of romance anime dragging things out.

It doesn't take 15+ episodes to hold hands.

Yea but, for me it honestly isn't worth it, it's good and mature but that ending pffff, anime will just leave you upset and u will go straight to the visual novel, and the NTR airs really put me off on 2nd half

the "Pure" idealized romances often take too long for things to happen. It is hard to determine what is a good romance because normal things like sex and intimacy are absent from most anime romances.

I'd say in a good way. Compared to a lot of the big romance titles nowadays, Clannad AS did not feel forced at all (overall).

Cross game and basically every adachi mitsuru work.
The romance always feel very natural, like it isn't forced and the characters slowly realize their feelings for each other.

I actually really loved the romance in Hotarubi no Mori e, it's very subtle, yet beautiful.

Also I really loved the romance in NHK.

As with some of the user's above, I love romances that aren't forced and artificial. Many harem romances come to mind when I think of artificial and forced ones. *cough* SAO *cough*

Please does an anime exist where there is a romance that progresses at a normal rate? That doesn't feel dragged on, or feels immature. Immature meaning that it is for a younger audience like some 2 high school kids doing stupid things with no progression what so ever. Does an anime like that actually exist?
Brace yourself.

Soon as LotGH 2017 comes out. The anime community is going to become so cancerous you will need to take cover and hide.
