24 minutes long and this one is more serious than the previous.

Interesting OP song I guess and then focused a majority of it on the aerial flight scenarios/battles. Animation seems a bit different though and this had way more action than I had expected.

Nonetheless, they still squeezed some bits of comedy and a little fan service. Felt quite different from what I had expected though. Mm, the fighter planes taking flight~

Mizushima is great at directing stupid anime for otaku, but even better at directing stupid anime for military otaku; it's easy albeit sad to see why he's got too much on his plate to make another season of Shirobako.

I definitely could have done without some of the more "eccentric" pilots, but I really liked the action, the angles and the music. The plot and characters have a lot of potential, kindov like a more realism-based Strike witches. Definite potential in this... I'd love to see more. Maybe one day we can get an actual spinoff show?

well, since we're unlikely to have another season of Shirobako i guess doing this for full cour is worth a try, PA Works?

anyway few lines of dialogue did took the same as the one they show at AR back in the production stage, and that line when Aria said that she already throw away her heart is surprisingly very good, all thanks to that sound director.

Well, that's quite a way to put Catherine into the plane, and i didnt expect that last bit of battle to happen, tho. the plot is also interesting, electronic device is jammed by some reason of enemy appearance and only older plane is able to fly.

I won't mind to see full season of this. Or adaptation of any of Nogame's mangas

Basically this.
It was good but to be turned into a full cour show the other pilots would have to go and it'd have to get a bit more serious (I say this but it overlaps with the other pilots part, I liked the parts in the base, not so much the comments when they were fighting or before they started).
Suprised at how well the CG looked.

Aside the from dogfight, it was pretty weak compared to the first special. That F-22 was OP as hell! Too bad, it got destroyed in a cheap fashion. Usage of CG was decent, but some scenes were still a bit lacking.

I like how Cathy still remembers how to pilot a plane despite having Amnesia. Because if she didn't, she'd be deemed useless in the base.

I'm wondering how Catherine eventually remembers her sister and talks to her all about Aria. I'm also wondering if the name she picked happened to be her real name. This was a fun watch, and I wouldn't mind this being turned into a real series.

I teared up when Aria finally said "sutechatta kara".

This is literally a crossover of Takeshi Nogami's Shidenkai no Maki and Strike Witches, for which Nogami has drawn as well. I really hope the former gets adapted into anime at some point.

Wasn't an F-22. It was an ATDX, a plane that as far as the public knows, hasn't even flown yet.

And as is, I would watch this as a full show.(just don't include Cathy's death, k)

This was oh so worth the wait.

I really wish they will make a full show out of this. I'm not the mecha kind of guy, but damn this was way too good, I loved it.

Plus, maybe the fact that we know there's more stuff that wasn't in this OVA gives away their idea of making this a full show? I hope so!

Well that was pretty fun, haven't seen a show with jet fighter aerial combat in a while. Liked the Star Wars references as well, though I'm not sure they were actually intentional

Wouldn't mind at all if this and Exodus were actual full-length anime

Aww man do turn it into a full show!
Such long wait but i think it was worth it. This was definitely the most interesting of the two specials in my opinion, but when that's said, they were both great.

This was more enjoyable than most of the anime shows that have been airing. If there would ever be a second Shirobako season I'd love for it to be all about this standalone episode.

Knowing that Cathy will be dead somehow makes the episode more touchy than it should have been.

Anyway, this need to be an actual series. Or just make an actual jet dogfight series.

As for the first special, I would definitely watch a full series of it.

That's true, but still I really liked Aria's and Cathy's characters. Both are charismatic heroines.

These two specials were really entertaining ~

Great episode, doing so much in just 25 minutes. This was with Vol 7, I hope there is a second part with Vol 8

Also have to say, not only is the director the best at actual series, his extras are always out of this world. The GuP stuff were always brilliant, his Shirobako equally so.

Not to mention the strongly implied romance between her and Aria, especially in light of knowing about that death.

Hmm. Production values were sure high but the story... story was meh. Arupin one was kinda better.
In the orginal series you can accept it because they made it into cliche intentionally but here it really stands out. In the bad way.

Aria getting embarassed all the time was weird considering how cold thinking she should be.
Not to mention there were some pretty bad decisions on her part during the fight. Her method to get Cathy into airplane was just... facepalm worthy. And even though fanservice in showers was nice it was just unnecessary.

And for some reason Yamaoka Yuri as Tatiana sounded way too much like 'Pizza Sauce' Ayumi from Charlotte.

They did very good with music soundtrack though.

6/10 Nice to watch as addition to the original series but it wouldn't work well as stand alone.

Score: 7.03... I don't get why it's so low. Both episodes were great, even without any prospect of a closure.
Exodus was so good and I was so happy while watching it, but I must be honest and say that I'd think of it as pretty silly if it was real, though it would probably be incredibly entertaining (and have good songs).
Third Aerial Girls Squad, on the other hand, looks so promising! It would be an interesting show. Good character design, animation, story (the setting is overplayed, but not with military aircraft, as far as I know... I might be wrong), timing for comedy and drama, even a little yuri, etc. Musashino, good job on both of them!

Eh, I preferred the first special. I didn't care much for the plot in this one, but Aria and Cathy are so gay.

The show reminds of Toaru Hikuushi.

Always wanted to see Aerial Girls animated. We get an OVA, small taste of what wold have been an enjoyable show.

Lol at Tatiana, playing with a toy airplane at the beginning of the episode.

And Cathy as well.

Aria to Cathy: "Those round things..."
Cathy sure is fun to watch.

This was actually pretty cool. The fights in the beginning were kind of boring, but once it ramped up near the end it got a lot better. I really want to see this as a full series now, it has a lot of potential. More so than a lot of first episodes of shows I've seen!

This is freaking good. They really need to turn this into a full cour. Love to see both Exodus and this to be made fully, but if only one then this should get precedence (of course Shirobako 2 is the highest).

Cute girls doing cute things...while killing people with fighter jets?
Sure, why not? lol

Despite of the over the top personalities of our so called "elites", I enjoyed this a lot more than the first episode. I actually wouldn't mind seeing a full series for this.

I really liked the character designs - especially Aria's. It's beautiful.
They need to make a Shirobako spin-off out of this, I'd definitely watch it.

When is the second episode coming out? WHEN!?

I'd watch this anime, seriously. It was so cool, I usually don't like baka moe stuff but this kept me watching the entire episode (which felt long, but not borring at all)

The animation was good, the music good, the CG good. The art style was good, and the fighting scenes were amazing. I did not expect to like this OVA so much, I mean, I knew it was gonna be better than the previous one but not this good.

Someone, make this happen...

PD: Everytime I saw Cathy I said: "You are going to die..." jajaja
Knowing she was gonna die made the episode more touching... like, the irony and all...

Yeah, I was like that too xD But, in these kind of scenarios you have to let go some physics in order to make impressive stuff or things to help you distinguish characters or make the plot move. We know a lot of stuff is not possible otherwise, but a limit in twisting the rules is always welcome.

Aerial fight was great! This reminded me of the Independence Day movie.

The plot about the world is in chaos is good too which all electronics are unusable and there is no internet. Nooo~~, I cant live in that world.

At the shower scene, Tatiana body is something weird, haha XD

Overall: 7/10

Exodus was much more better imo.

Well, first, the big boobs aspect was quite surprising since in shirobako it is mentioned that the first anime adaptation of this mangaka's work was a big failure also because of a fan service oriented character design.

The interactions between the characters felt forced and rushed. I didn't like it. That was bad.

Action is good.

Something's wrong with this essai. It is average. Was that intended? If they had to make the show, they would need to correct the characters flaws (dialogues and looks) and of course change the end of the first season since we all know it already.

I guess the near fan service aspect appears because it's an OVA. I hope they never thought seriously about an adaptation with this kind of characters and "orientation" because when you compare this with shirobako and girls and panzers (which I love), they are worlds apart.
