PLEASE give us the option to remove the streaming anime from the top of our Panel's. Not everyone wants it clogging up valuable space, especially when such an infinitesimal portion of the Mal population uses it. Not having atleast the option to remove it is borderline criminal.

Edit- I see many others are either unhappy or even enraged by this travesty. Keep the pressure on and make clear our displeasure, or we will continue to get shafted by the endless negative changes that ignore our input and protests.

Well you obviously didn't look well. If you go up like 3 posts you will see that Cnon showed you what to do to remove it.

I'm bluntly against it.

Firstly, there is no evidence that streaming usage on an info and social site like MAL, increases the user-base or the interest in the rest of what was previously created.

That being said, if I WAS going to host streaming content, it would be material that rotated often, and very few products at that. This way, MAL activity might increase as a consequence of some users catching the products for that week or month, whatever. Thus the Forum activity would gain some new commentary.

But an increasing, and increasingly static large streaming library would have little purpose. Except to expand MAL into a streaming site, which usually has few interested users (aside from the direct streaming), and a receding activity or MAL interest in user-based functions, like Clubs, or Forums, or anything else of the existing and quite unique family of services we've come to know at MAL.

Jez my 2 cents.

I (and the overwhelming majority of Mal users) have no interest in this streaming anime crap (this is MyAnimeList, not MyCrappyAnimeStream), so I only saw a few posts and a plethora of complaints elsewhere. I had already figured that there would surely be a convoluted workaround, but the point I made isn't even remotely diminished by that. We shouldn't have to try to circumvent this, it should never have been forced upon us in the first place, or at the least that there should be a quick and simple mal settings options that eradicates the blight.

I was just pointing it out. I as well won't use this since Daisuki have such a limited quantity of anime to offer. But this ain't our site so we can't just go and say "I don't like this, remove it.". So if you wanna hide the stream bar you need to take the options you have. And currently you only have one.

They already got rid of the fansub section on the shows mentioned in the OP so it's very likely that they'll end up removing that section altogether somewhere down the road.

Also, we were quiet about this at the beginning of the year, but I'm happy to finally say that since January 2015, we're officially owned and maintained by DeNA Co., Ltd (DeNA.) DeNA (pronounced D-N-A) has been hard at work behind the scenes maintaining our growing userbase and implementing new features throughout MAL.

More details can be found at the official DeNA press release here: http://dena.com/intl/press/2015/07/dena-and-anime-consortium-japan-to-stream-anime-through-myanimelist.html

Then why does it still say "MyAnimeList.net is a property of MyAnimeList, LLC." at the bottom?

You're cute. It's nice being hyper-critical isn't it?
You've been here for 2 years, all you know is how MAL worked for these 2 years. I've been here for 8 years and let me tell you: MAL was a completely different place back then. You have no idea how great the club system worked in the old days and how enraged we were when massmessages were cut down. The social media aspect has been reduced over the years and now we're streaming. So?

The site has been changing the entire time, but one thing has never changed: to list your anime and manga. THAT is what the site stands for. It's a list. Everything around it, is an extra. The extras change over the years, but I honestly don't see why streaming anime is as evil as some here make it out to be. If you personally don't want to watch anime here, then please do us all a favor and just watch them quietly whererever you feel more comfortable.

Luckily, there is another anime database site out there that has data on fansub groups (with a search function for them even!) and the ability to leave extended-length comments on them, albeit non-anonymously. Though I can't deny that I've enjoyed reading and participating in the trollfest of MAL's group comments over the years.

Maybe instead of removing the Fansub -section, you could add the DAISUKI -subs as default? That way, you could compare and improve the subs according to the fans demands.
I mean, healthy competition, right? :D Probably many wouldn't even need fansubs, if official subtitles were higher quality.

Because they formed a limited liability company, I would assume this is for tax puprposes (LLC's typically have a lower tax rate on company profits) as well as it protects your personal assets in the event your company is sued. There are a few other benefits, but those two were the first that came to mind. At any rate the LLC is a subsidiary of DeNA, regardless.

@Topic

I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this. Steaming in Flash @ 480p seems like a waste to me, but to each their own. I do dislike the removal of fan sub information for certain series though. If MAL is meant to be a 'one stop shop' then removing this section doesn't make sense and since the quality is low, coupled with flash player (outdated) I've not gained anything as a user, but stand to lose something, which is not something I'm going to go out and celebrate.

If you want healthy competition then get fansubbers to license the shows they sub.

nice, CrunchyRoll is partnered with Anime-Planet, now MAL is partnered directly with the japanese studios through Daisuki, this is great news for MAL but that may also mean no more discussion of fansubs on the forums and the fansubs section might go away in the near future

I hope this isn't the case. Still think that discussion of anime and its community should be first. Leave as is for this discussion.

Oh also just so you know thanks to this i cant goto funi or crunchy (when i actually go there once in a blue moon) and link on their forums mal links anymore (reason because mal is competition for them).
Sorry xinil but You fucked up.

Now that mal is no longer just an informational database. No Anime site whether legal or not wishes us to link anything from mal. So Have fun losing potential members and losing actual members too.

Also this is worse then classic mal. They took one step forward and took a million back.

Also i don't understand how so many people can say this is good without fucking cringing so hard they piss themselves. Mal has continuously fucked up over the last 3 years i've been here. Nothing they have done was good and all the changes for 2015 aside from just 1 (which was telling crave to fuck off) have all been horrible choices that will eventually lead to this sites downfall.

Next time you make such a big decision think about the long term consequences.
