Do you still want to watch television after watching animes?

Recently and interestingly, I have been getting the same feeling that I think I don't want to watch the black cable box which serves and displays different types of shows around the globe after watching animes. To be frank, before I became an anime watcher, I used to watch TV about seventy per cent of the time because TV had a massive and extensive network which you could find and watch different types of programmes that would entertain you and help you to have an enjoyable moment in your leisure time. (TV shows with a new episode every single week, daylight programmes getting a new start on every new hour, late night shows, cinema movies from every possible genre and more! TV contains a lot!) Anyways, yet as a few anime episodes on the Internet gradually one by one started to grab my attention and drive my full concentration to themselves then I started to get the feeling that I was seperating myself from TV world slowly. Animes are so good that when I look at the television screen -no matter how hard I strain myself- I can't get that feeling of admiration that I have for animes anymore. (Obviously there is no such thing that I am obliged to watch TV just like I am obliged to watch animes. I can drop watching both of them. That's a matter of preference.) To make a long story short, do you get the same feeling? Do you sometimes (not always, a random moment in your life) experience one of those moments when you say 'Blah, what a terrible show! Even anime is made up by non-living characters and it includes people living only on papers, digital world, anime is way way much better than *this* show'.
I didn't mean to keep it this long, I am sorry. But it would be a pleasure for me to hear your comments on this if you ever want to say anything. Let the fingers work! Comment, thank you.

I've stopped using my T.V. as soon as I got used to watching shows on the internet.
Mostly anime, but I do occasionally watch a normal TV show, examples being: "Dexter", "Chuck" or Scrubs. (just like anime, marathonning it.)

I generally agree with you and I think we started out similarly. Before I ever watched anime consistently, I used to love TV and actually I still do to a degree. I've always wanted to be a screenwriter and used to love dreaming up my own sitcom. While that's still an end-goal, a very doubtful one, I don't really watch much American shows anymore.

There just aren't any really good sitcoms on TV anymore. Hell, I used to love British sitcoms as well, but I haven't bothered to go looking for any of those recently either (though I probably should; if there's anything half as good as Spaced, then I should watch it). I'll still watch British panel shows or occasional other shows, but a lot just don't appeal to me and that's the problem.

Though I do end up dropping some bad anime every season, I always find a lot that somehow resonate with me and, actually, the same probably goes with certain dramas too. I don't know why, maybe because there is a wider range of choices so it makes it more likely that I'll find something. Nowadays so many American shows are "gritty" or terrible reality TV junk, sitcoms with bad timing, or childish cartoons shows. Not all anime is good, but there are plenty of engaging series.

There's also the problem with TV itself. It's ancient - they let you choose services and pay more to get something you might want rather than tons of channels filled with junk. While most of us get our anime through the web and thus have a lot more choice. We don't have to ask for an anime that fits our taste from our provider, we can easily find it.

I actually tend to watch anime that share the same qualities with TV I like - horror anime done well, gripping romances and dramas, action series with sci-fi concepts, slice of life comedies with funny situations. I'd gladly watch American or British shows that do this as well, but I first have to find them. It's more cumbersome to do so, but I don't think I've given up on western television just yet.

I watch a few gems on cartoon network, and spongebob, but mostly no.

I either go watch a few web series, or put in a live action movie.

Rarely... Likely because how I view things has changed. I like to marathon things and repeated commercial breaks with the addition of T.V not always following chronological order, I've stopped.

It's just simply easier to watch anything on the internet.. than on cable. Unless you can't find it legally on the internet and you have to do some jumps.. But I don't know anything about that.

We don't have cable at our house, but god do we use the internet. My TV is a monitor for the computer, we use Chromecast regligously, I use the TV and laptop interchangeibly. I use my laptop to watch shows like Dr. Phil and other TLC/reality shows. And I like to cast movies on the TV.

I barely ever watch TV any more. I even got a Crunchyroll subscription just so I can watch anime on the smart TV in the living room when I'm eating lunch/dinner. I'd use to just watch documentaries to pass the time while eating, but now it's anime.

To be fair though, live action TV hasn't interested me much for quite a while before I even began watching anime, there just haven't been many interesting shows on. I still watch it from time to time, the most recent series I watched was Gotham I believed, but ever since that ended, I don't think I've watched anything on the TV aside from anime.

To a less extent. I really wanted to watch Orphan Black and Hannibal, but I couldn't bring myself to due to how much anime I've been watching, and that means something, because Hannibal is tied for my favorite T.V show of all time. I still watch Doctor Who and The Walking Dead though. This is also the same thing with other forms of media like books too. I just wanna watch my anime more than anything else for whatever reason. Half the anime I'm watching right now isn't even on par with Hannibal.

I had long since stopped watching US/ English speaking TV before I even watched my first anime episode. There's nothing that interests me, it's all shock value garbage these days with 'Making Meth', 'Game of Incest' and 'Shock value is the new Crack'.

After cancelling Firefly, Space: Above and Beyond, Now & Again and numerous other great fucking shows I just threw my TV away. They were all getting replaced with Desperate Housewives and scum-of-the-earth reality shows, and I guess gaming and creating music took over.

I watch the odd Norwegian original (they tend to be funny) comedy but USA/ Hollywood (except to an extent Pawn Stars) can go fuck itself.

Edit: British TV can still be good, like I.T. Crowd, Black Books, etc.

I watch everything on my computer, including live-action shows. The only thing that I miss from watching TV was stumbling upon some things I wouldn't have found otherwise. Odd, obscure movies, plays, dance and music performances, so on and so forth. I don't remember most of it, but it was a neat way to pass the evening sometimes when I was younger.

The last time I used my TV was for Orphan Black and that was only because my computer broke at the time. Even then, I just downloaded it and used the Bluray player instead of watching it on cable.

Honestly I watch more TV shows than I ever did because of Netflix, and that means approximately two.

Regular television programs are mainly reality crap (i don't understand why its called reality when its so fake) and horrible dramas where women are sleeping around.

I only watch some movies, if they are good, and anime. TV is for sports.

I watch shows occasionally on Netflix, but I never was super into american television. Used to watch a lot of cartoons and stuff on Nick and CN, so anime was a progression of that for me.

I do watch breakout series though, like AHS (Debatable, but I like it) and Breaking Bad.
