Selling 1 million copies per volume (or more) is incredibly rare these days. One Piece, SNK, HxH and Kimi ni Todoke are the only ongoing manga which sell that much. I feel like AssClass, Haikyuu and NNT might reach there too. Tokyo Ghoul will be indefinitely stucked in the 800-999k range imo since it already had two seasons and won't have another one for quite a while. ichii_1 said: Dude, it's the author of FMA. Yeah, I don't see any manga getting a similar boost to SNK for the rest of the decade. AssClass had similar sales to it pre anime yet even after getting an anime and a live action movie, it doesn't even sell up to half as much as it. SNK is really the New Death Note as far as getting people into the medium (both in Japan and abroad). |

I read a volume of it where he basically walks sideways or something and just ends up in situations where he gets to show how perfect he is. The premise sounds like it would get old extremely fast. |

Looked at the monthly rankings, and there are some updated cumulative sales as of June 28. Some titles that ranked are omitted, as their cumulative sales as of June 28 is the same as their June monthly sales. Just compare with the list here if you can't read Japanese, as it's pointless translating something already done. Titles released within June 1st to June 28, but only partially charted for that whole period are highlighted in red, which means this monthly total is more up to date. The rest were released before June 1st, and have updated cumulative totals in the relevant column as of June 28. Note: NARUTO-ナルト- 我愛羅秘伝 砂塵幻想 is higher than this at 77,179, due to having charted in the most recent June 29~July 5 list. But wow, I own 8 of the 20 titles in the LN list... That's a rare sight. Good to see KyouHora still managing to be at the 10th place after 21 (brick) volumes. That tells how much peoples who started reading it are addicted to it actually. So long to read yet more peoples buying than almost any other LN. ^^ vodall said: Snow said: *2. 107,361 Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka Vol.8 15. *21,930 Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka Vol.7 16. *21,517 Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka Vol.6 18. *21,337 Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka Vol.1 19. *20,117 Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka Vol.5 Holy hotcakes. You had the numbers right under your nose while posting, so how can you say that. As if a single cour could adapt 8 volumes even by rushing. It stopped at 5, and volume 7+8 alone are bigger together than volume 1+2+3 by quite a good margin so no. |

It's cool that we're getting this monthly sales report too, but my complaint is pretty much -> riqueterremoto said: There's just too much going on. And I don't think that separating LN and manga sales is that important, but that's probably just me because I don't read LN. There's also the thing with CD sales and BD sales having separate thread. I don't mind looking through the CD list if it's in the same thread, but I don't really go out my way to check the sales of the CDs.News now only stay a few hours on the panel board before disappearing. Onto the list, I definitely have to check out Gin no Saji. I've been stalling it for quite a very long time now. Nice to see Major 2nd on the list, I am hoping that the new series is actually good and not a copy of Major. It's also nice to see NNT, Ao no Exorcist, World Trigger, Kuroshitsuji, and Yowamushi Pedal on the list. Can't believe Ao no Exorcist is still going strong in Japan. Same as Kuroshitsuji. I've had fun watching both anime and can't wait for a sequel announcement. |

These monthly lists have been available since around August last year. So it's nothing new, and is something that should've been posted on a monthly basis, a long time ago. All of these lists should have been separated long ago. CD sales are not similar to BD/DVD sales. Manga and bunko/book/light novels/literature are also not similar to each other. They were only combined for convenience before according to a past MAL News Mod (i'm sure people know who i'm talking about). It doesn't matter if you don't go out of your way to check the CD sales, but there are some people that do. There was one argument a while back on using pre-air dates of real life events as the start date for anime instead of the official first TV broadcast, where it is likely a limited amount of people even go to those events. It is similar to this, if there is at least one person who goes out of their way to check these threads, then it is valid to separate these threads from each other. People are exaggerating just how fast news posts fall off the 1st page. There is a button at the top of the board that allows you to sort by newest topic first if you can't keep up with the pace of the News board. It is much better in my opinion to be having more coverage of news from Japan, since this News Board has been lacking. This News Board should be striving to at least be a one stop shop for everything to do with news from Japan, but unfortunately one area that can't be covered is those early leaks that ANN somehow gets from someone within the industry (I am guessing) since sometimes they know it before even the Japanese fans do. |
