Hence it sold so poorly. Unless Madhouse is at the top of the production committee (most likely not as that's more common with studios such as KyoAni), then they don't really care how much it sells since they will get the smallest share out of the revenue anyway. Most animation studios are subcontracted to do the animation, so they would've most likely been paid a sum of money ahead of time. The companies who are higher on the production committee would of course care much more how an anime sells since they are risking more, and hence gets a larger share of the revenue. |

It's not about hating Madhouse or any thing of the sort. It's just the shoujo anime curse(doesn't affect otome games though). Almost all shoujo anime in recent years, with the exception of Kimi ni Todoke have flopped in anime sales. But, they get a good boost in manga sales. Akatsuki no Yona, for example almost doubled its manga sales. Oremonogatari as well, is getting a good manga sales boost. Anybody reading this here, don't expect Akagami no Shirayukuhime to do well either, ok? Really, shoujo anime flopping is nothing new. But it still irks me though lol, even though it shouldn't. |

well i got doubts if that is how Ore Monogatari was funded though, i will change my mind once its confirmed by a news source i got doubts because anime that suppose to not sell well are funded primarily by the anime studio as said by this https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/2ff3qs/i_am_hiroaki_yura_producer_of_anime_such_as_under/ck8p0ip Question: Just curious, how do some of the more artsy anime get funded by production committees when it's fairly obvious that they won't sell well? I'm especially curious about original anime like Texhnolyze and RD Sennou Chousashitsu, but adaptations like Kino no Tabi seem like they should be doomed as well. Answer: The studio themselves puts up a lot of the money or companies radical enough to support a particular artist. given the history of how bad Shoujo anime is selling (according to this thread) i got doubts that Madhouse got lots of sponsors for this |

Low BD sales don't automatically mean the studio is hated, they could be countless reasons. When OPM was announced to be adapted by Madhouse, tons of nips were crying because "muh western studio", "western will like it", etc.. Not surprising that Ore Monogatari don't sell. You really think thats related to madhouse instead of the trend of shoujo anime having bad sales? |

It's not like the quality of the anime has anything to do with people's interest. They did Mahouka and NGNL which both did great in sales.im not hating on Madhouse in fact i love a lot of anime works by them those 2 are just an exception though, most of Madhouse anime works does not sell well thats why they went bankrupt years ago and was just saved and now owned by a TV broadcasting company |

Give Madhouse a businessman and how far do you think they can go?those 2 are just an exception though, most of Madhouse anime works does not sell well thats why they went bankrupt years ago and was just saved and now owned by a TV broadcasting company |

Huh it sucks that Ore Monogatari has sold so poorly....it is the curse of the Shoujo genre...they just don't sell much anymore...with a few exceptions like Nozaki kun last year. Also i am so happy that Arpeggio of blue steel movie is selling so well.. 12 k average and with the money they made of the screening it is still successful but so underrated here in the west. |
