| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- The OP theme song imo works well and is catchy. It has a solid mixture of real life and modern fantasy themes in it. Really loved the way the fantasy parts are adapted though. Very thrilling when you see them come in from almost nowhere and people running for their lives. I think the series is going to tone down a bit on the violence although it's still uncensored (not much to censor anyways for the first episode). Loved the military part and action. Good episode.  Oh yeah, I kinda like the ED theme. It has a dancing like mood. |

| The OP is meh. Just generic song randomly inserted into this show. I'm mad at how they ended this episode, leaving a HUGE cliffhanger. soundtrack : quite great. Character : typical A-1 animation. Overall 7.7 / 10 episode, 'cause I'm still mad at that CLIFFHANGER. |

Going by what Stark said, my worries for this first episode has gone down a lot since it seems that it was adapted well and the violence wasn't censored, but the real violence happens later so hopefully it'll be okay Can't wait to see it.....I'm still not sold on the bright colors yet though |
| The violence wasn't censored? There was barely any violence on screen at all. The most violence you see is Itami with blood on his face after an implied violent act. The whole opening battle/rampage felt a little weak as a result. Could've been worse though. |

| I'm going to like this series, but it felt rushed especially since it's 2 cour, it could've taken it's time for the first 2 episodes. The battle was slightly above average but I expected something a little bit more bloodier than this, overall a decent episode and hopefully things will get even better and the censorship of violence won't occur. Youji is ok as a character but my issue with the characters is that I don't care much for the other characters in the SDF just yet. The OP is trash, I want a good second OP later on to replace this trash unlike the ED theme which was awesome. |

| Just finished watching it and even though it wasn't censored, they did tone down the violence which saddens me. But like I said, I'm gonna hold out on my sadness and wait to see how future violent events are handled. Other than that I have no real complaints tbh....The MC looks weird animated but I don't have a problem with it Pretty good episode, OP is okay but the ED was way better |

| What the Hell I just watched? Is this Outbreak Company 2.0 with heavy(?) violence? And a soldier who's just working to support his hobby being an otaku was been promoted due to his heroic action? How bad it could be? He' totally fucked screwed. With that he couldn't get time-offs now. Okay the episode as a whole was just fine. The OP was a bit lame and the ED was just fine. I'll stick watching it till episode 8, If it's terribly bad I'll drop it. But if not so bad I'll watch till the End. (Episode 24) |

| The manga of this is one of my favourite manga tho i have to be honest and say that i wasn't looking forward to an anime. In my mind an anime want do this justice but it has a lot of potential. There where some differences compered to the manga mainly being no Orcs but for now i can't say i am disappointed and it looks nice. My main question is will the anime go as far as the anime did considering there where some extremes which might not be fit for a wide viewer base. |

| Pretty interesting first episode just setting up the plot. It took its time without really feeling slow. Itami clearly has some skill despite his otaku obsessions. Looking forward to more, and seeing the girls enter the story. |

| Lots of potential here, the MC's comments during the invasion made me laugh when I was seriously into it which is not the best of signs, I hope the harem doesn't get too in the way and this can still pull off a decent story, I like this setup a lot. |

| Really cool that our main character is an otaku,that way I can relate to him pretty easily.To finance his "obsessive" lifestyle,he's joining the military,which is a rather weird decision but it's showcasing his simple-minded nature.Now he'll end up in a different world where he is confronted with the harsh side of reality,a bloody war.Damn,never thought a Ln adaptation done by A-1 would have anti-escapism as a theme.... tommy9418 said: shichirin said: Question for the LN readers; Will this become a harem? | Well that was... something Pretty strange but at least it's unorthodox. I've got tons of questions but I'm sure they'll be answered eventually Felt a bit rushed though somehow... like they jumped into the action without any preparation or explanation and it kept doing these minor timeskips every few minutes |

| Felt rushed but that was how the first few chaps of the manga felt too so it's all good for now. Too bad they toned down the violence tho :/ There's gonna be much more later on so A-1 needs to get their shit together I doubt they can <_< I really can't bring myself to like these designs. They're not bad but in comparison to the manga they just lack the "Non-generic" look. And I friggin can't tell who's who since all the characters have way different designs from the manga. Youji is a cool MC and can't wait for Rory :3 Even though her design is butchered |

| charcter design only 6,5/10, that is to say light years behind the manga. There is not much to say about soundtrack. I was afraid they will not shown any enemy humans being killed (only orcs and such) but thankfully I was wrong on that, unfortunately the censoring did take its toll and the bloody Ginza massacre looked more like violent commotion caused by football fans rather like a slaughter it was. This does not bode well considering what kind of scenes should take place in the future :( All in all - I will be watching but iI'm already convinced it won't be the masterpiece the manga is. |

 From the manga, but not in the anime. One scene in the anime is completely different from the manga, and changes the whole tone of the story. In the manga, the invading Empire, briefly thinking they've triumphed, raises their flag in Ginza on a pile of Japanese bodies. That's why the JSDF goes in with a massive invasion force. In the anime, we instead have the Empire's general showing doubts about the invasion. |
