The U.S.-based MegaBots have challenged Japan-based Suidobashi Heavy Industries from Kyoto, Japan to a real-life giant robot battle.

“You have a giant robot, we have a giant robot — we have a duty to the science fiction lovers of this world to fight them to the death,” MegaBots’ challenge video states.

f the challenge is accepted, MegaBots may take “America’s first fully-functional giant piloted robot” called the MegaBot Mark II into the battle.

The 15-foot-tall mech is equipped with guns that can fire three-pound paint cannonballs at more than 120 miles per hour. The current bipedal mech gets around on caterpillar treads; however, the team is a designing full-scale walking robot.

Holy shit, this reminds me of a show I watched as a kid where some rad dad and his son would make a battle robot and duel with other rad dads + sons' robots. Shit was cash.

Hoping for something just as cool.

Video:

USA is going to win though. Japan has teeny weeny penis Gatling guns. America has the fucking cannonballs.

For all we know, by the time most of us here become old, we might even see real-life robot prototypes for military usage. The Americans are already testing exoskeletons for logistics and heavy lifting. Pretty soon, we might actually see soldiers in powered armor and from there, actual mechs for battle.

It sounds pretty awesome and horrifying at the same time.

I dunno, man. Japan is way more into robotics that the US has ever been but the Americans have a knack and love for building things that destroy stuff really really well.

But of course, both countries still have one hilarious problem, which is creating a two-legged bot which can actually WALK PROPERLY, lol.

This whole deal reminds me of Front Mission, heck the Karutas looks like it came out of Front Mission Alternative. The US made a robot akin to an MT from Armored Core.

Thee eerie real world comparison on the situation of the militarized China as DHZ, and how Japanese are trying to lift it's limitation on Self Defense Force.. Now let's just hope they don't do the match at the Yokosuka Base.

If we don't strap a dashing American flag onto the top of our robot and have the pilot do a somersault off a horse into the cockpit, I'm going to have to put my money on Japan for this one.

We need an Optimus Prime colour scheme, as well as Donald Trump piloting the thing.

The top 10 players in the world will all be former members of the MAL forums.

As for this potential battle, it's more MegaBots vs Suidobashi Heavy Industries. I think SHI is probably better prepared and more serious about fighting robots.

However, if it was full-on America vs Japan, with Government/Military backed teams with engineers from MIT and Tokyo University, the Japan team would get wrecked.

^True if its headed to military, but if this turns into a sport/entertainment/art etc it would not be just guns/weaponry and Suidobashi also wants a melee! and i think that would be complex engineering and it would be awesome!

The Hype is Real!

Fight of the Century. Mayweather vs Pacquiao can fuck off.

I guess Melee makes it a more level playing field since Murica can't use Freedom Cannons.

Nay, that flimsy jap robot will be scrap when we're through with it.

They want melee, we'll show them our fists. They want ranged, we blow it up.
