Very very satisfying ending in a long time. 10/10 this episode. 9/10 in the series overall.

The endless debate between fans and haters. At one point, after spending a lot of time on MAL, you just realize it's totally pointless.

Stellar show. 9/10 overall.

Hope Season 3 will happen next year. The animation this season became amazing even compared to S1. Who knows what another year will do for this show.
If I have recommended manga to you, or you want manga recommendations, feel free to PM me your thoughts.

Will officially shit my pants if Horimiya gets an anime adaptation (not the OVA).

Horimiya, Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun, and Oregairu will be published in the States. Praise Yen Press. Also, good job to Viz Media for picking up Oyasumi Punpun.

Finale reminded me of what it was about this show I dug, but much of the rest of season didn't. Very disappointed by the lack of any forward movement regarding the show's central mysteries, and Kunato kind of gets sidelined from doing anything interesting between the season premier and this finale. When you think about it there wasn't much important progression here besides bringing in Tsumugi. Izana changing genders doesn't count because who gives a fuck and Benisuzume's return was only there to provide a rousing season finale, but not much else. Besides throwing in Tsumugi who was kind of a cool novelty at first, this was just alternating between boring harem bullshit and battles that while cool, never really felt as weighty as they should have. Also Nagate is still a very dull protagonist.

Overall there was like 4 or 5 episodes of decent material in this cour.

Watching the end credits made me realize how super sad it is that Hoshijiro is dead

One of the manga artists recurring themes is transferal of consciousness. This happens a bunch in Blame! And the manga goes much further to imply that Benizume still retains Hoshijiro's consciousness. For the original author (Nihei) Hoshijiro is probably alive and well in a cell somewhere, just in a different body. I mean if Nagate is willing to accept Tsumugi, he will definitely accept a placental Hoshijiro if it has the original's memories and personality.

I'm not spoiling anything, as that scene is the last time Beni/Hoshijiro appeared in the manga as well. But I have a sneaking suspicion that she's about to show up again.

I didn't think they could top that whole circle linked formation last season, but man that orbital assault bombardment was freaking amazing and epic. Pretty good way to end the season and I hope that there will be a season 3.

Felt like more than half the show was filler, slice of life, harem romance that went no where. Though there was a share of exciting episodes as well, the boring episodes really dampened the overall mood of the series. The first season was much more satisfying. The action drama wasn't as thrilling as the first, which personally was the main appeal of the show.

That was absolutely insane. The Hoshijiro placenta moment was tense in every way, it was made pretty clear that her consciousness is suffering in there which I certainly hate. And now Tanikaze has to deal with even more unease regarding her death, not knowing what Kunato is doing with the specimen. That moment when he held both her and Tsumugi though, dammit. Bring best girl back Nihei!

This series turns the wheel of hype and despair so fluidly, I really hope we get more.

Maybe I'm missing something but at the start of the episode during the fight didn't hosijiro sneak up from behind tanizake's frame? How did her body end up in the front to get hit with the smooth bore gun?

That kiss with the Hoshijiro placenta was hot, despite being pretty creepy. I want best girl Hoshijuro back! Still mad that she had to die.

Oddly enough, he could have just fired the chest/head blades on his Tsugumori mk II to defeat Benisuzume (though he wasn't piloting the mk II in the manga when this happened).

I was expecting some sort of instance, Benisuzume or not, that would demonstrate this. It's one of the key features of the Mk II/III after all.

I guess the producers just chose to introduce mk II early for the heck of it. After all, they introduced the GBE before the second placenta was obtained, and completely rewrote how it was developed.

Magnificent season ending episode.

I love that they are thinking and planning, not just charging in headlong and depending on skill. Yuhata set up and ambushed the guana using one hundred Gardes! What a meatgrinder! That's how you win a battle, gentlemen.

The fighting was well depicted, Hoshijiro's cockpit sequence was creepy as hell (and that tentacle tongue!), and Izana has really developed some self confidence, at least everywhere but her relationship with Nagate. It was good to see her determined to save Nagate and she figured out a way to do it. Well done. I realize the "harem" Nagate has accreting around him has some very attractive females, but dude stick with Izana. She has saved your life at least twice now. Keep that lady happy, she's handy to have around!

I have posted before about how much I like Samari, she's a great leader to serve under. I noticed it really looked like she has a twin right about the 09:30 mark you see what looks like Samari's picture on both sides of Tsuruuchi (now that has got to be a dream of Tsuruuchi's!).

I have some small hope for Hoshijiro's latest placenta, as it was taken away by Toha Heavy Industries, not Kunato. Then again, the Mad Scientist will stop at nothing to prove he's right, even if he's juggling hand grenades.

I remember from last season Captain Kobayashi was trying not to repeat the mistakes she made a hundred years ago, which was part of what caused Hiroki, Nagate's "grandfather", to leave the service and refuse regeneration. I see she's not quite there yet, she's still struggling with it, and she knows it. Lala right at the elevator saw that as well. This is a really good side plot which, if there is a Season 3, I really hope they explore more.

The ending sequence with the original OP song, and the better translation, was perfect icing for my cake. I've really come to love this show. May there be a Season 3 at least as good as this one.

I have to say this series has the WORST MC I have ever watched, honestly, it's a true spectacle how they made a series about a talking mannequin, truly awful

Again not clear ending as season 1 Left a lot to question especially part about "reviving as supperior specie".. Not to mention this time they showed 3 formations of gardes flying off to battle just at the end (season 3 confirmed?)

That kiss was quite strange tho Tanikaze almost got choked but gets saved at last moments and we got another placenta to our collection.

That orbital anihilation of gauna was just epic through Tanikaze was prepared to cut em all with hes knife (sum 1 pls give him something with more reach like sword or else)

Liked the part that he left hes new shiny medal for hes gramps to take care of it ( i would rather put it on the couch) while heading off into battle...

If season 3 is actually going to happen i cant wait to see it and it will probably pick up at the start of the fight with that massive gauna we know from around middle of this season.

9/10 just like season 1 for me

I can't recall another show that suffered as much from being maligned with poor romance and harem tropes. It was really distracting and completely unnecessary and the plot suffered for it. Season 1 wasn't without its faults but it was a very solid show. I can't say the same for season 2, unfortunately.

The episode felt weak for a season finale. Hopefully we will get a season 3 soon.

This anime is too fucking awesome!!!!

God damn I hope there's season 3. Watching the fights live while hearing those booster sounds is definitely superior compared to just reading the manga.

The 1st season was tense from start to finish and while the 2nd season has less fights it gave room for other stuffs to fill in. As much as I love the tension from waiting each week to see how the fights unfold, I also love how they handled the comedy, character interaction, and the little bit of romance that this season offered just as much (and I can't stress enough just how moe Tsumugi's tentacle is)

A strong ending to a season that seemed to have lost its touch during the middle part. It's a shame to see Benisuzume go but eventually humanity had to prevail.

I most certainly wouldn't mind a third season.

I'm going to miss this show. Hope we get season 3 as soon as possible. I still miss Hoshijiro.

Love the bombardment scene using Nagate as bait. Is that anime original or happen in the manga?
But it's important to remember that a movie review is subjective;it only gives you one person's opinion.

Overall not as good as first season but really good.

8/10 for season. Would've been 7 if not for the glorious spectacle of the last 2 episodes. Tanikaze going all-out vs overwhelming number of enemies, shouting "bring it on" vs even bigger number of enemies and the freacking awesome looking orbital bombardment.

This is one show where 3d animations look gorgeous. Took me few episodes of first season to accept it, but I can't imagine "normal" animation style on Sidonia.

A shame many people are not giving this show a chance due to it. They are missing a lot.
I really hope to see 3rd season one day.

P.s. I love opening song from 1st season.

This season is somewhat weaker than the previous one to me (maybe because of too much time wasted on making it a harem show?) but still very solid and entertaining. 8/10 overall.

Sidiona is a god damned gem.
Everythign about this show is just fucking great.
Though this episode felt really... Final. Like they werent expecting to be able to make a season 3.
This show is criminally underrated probably due the the CG which people seem to be stuck on Auto-hate for without actually giving it a try.
Omg the sounds in this episode though, the orbital barrage was fucking intense and it sounded so cool. Poor Nagate though, he has to be always reminded of his friends death by having her shoved in his face.

10/10 One of my favorite series.
Season 3 PLEASE

Feels like this could go on for many more seasons. Would love to see contact with other intelligent life forms, other than gauna.

The camera inside cabinet rescue that carries Izana is turned on, so she can watch Hoshijiro riding on Tanikaze's cockpit seat while he's piloting Tsugumori to get high with Tsumugi. One true mecha harem.

Pretty much this. This season really pales in comparison to S1. But, I would really like for this to continue at some point with another (final) installment as I do enjoy the series.

nice final episode.
All in all this season was a huge disappointment for me. The 1. season was way better imho.
It lacked this feeling of exploring, tanikaze was just way to OP with tsumugi.. would like a 3rd season. I think it would get back some of the mistery sidonia had (imo) in the first season.

Some OVAs 100 years ago would also be interesting.

I still couldn't get over Hoshijiro after all these episodes even though moe-moe Tsumugi and tsun-tsun Izana (in the later half) kind of made up for her. I liked the first season better.

Overall an 8/10 compared to S1 which I rated 9/10.

I will miss this anime and will hope they make a sequel.

Knights of Sidonia has always had a great premise - humanity has been driven from near extinction and are now living on a giant ship fighting dangerous tentacle aliens. The world is incredibly fleshed out and the art style and soundtrack are brilliant. The sound never disappoints either and when shit gets going it's always intense. Once the pseudo-3D style grew on me, I appreciated its potential and ability to fully capture the breadth of this world - both in its scale and action sequences - and looked forward to seeing what they'd do next.

So it completely baffles me why they spent 60% of this season on a giant alien chick with a talking bellend appendix. The plot progression in the beginning of the season was strong and had a good amount of foreshadowing that uncovered the motives behind many of the characters. But most of that disappears while we're left to play house with Mr cookie cutter dense male lead and his harem of mighty-morphing girls. Poor Nagate doesn't realize he's orbiting around space pussy because he still can't get over his tentacle-loving ex girlfriend (not that I blame him; she was the best girl after all).

The montage at the end of this episode highlighted how dull season 2 was in comparison to season 1, which had incredible set pieces back to back. There was no tension with Tsumugi and Nagate being able to one-shot everything either, compared to the first season where everyone seemed expendable. The exploration into the world was decent, and the ending battle mostly redeemed the sour taste I felt from the previous arc. Nevertheless, I'm disappointed that a show that delivers a consistent visual-aural orgasm every week was reduced to a rom-com with aliens.

Throw in the Hoshijiro fanservice too. I like the idea of the placenta retaining her conscious, but c'mon that entire time she invaded Tanikaze's cockpit. And hell, when he had to return to the ship with everything clinging to him. >>

Not to mention the 60-80% filler romcom harem crap we got this season...

Finale was decent enough, but everything leading up to it was just meh. It didn't top S1.
They even finished off with the OP from S1 because it's more defining of the series.... :P

Ah! I wanted an ending that showed something interesting to raise expectations in the third season, I hope that will come soon, but unfortunately it was not so topics to be discussed there are enough to fill an entire season. Can anyone being aware of the movements of Kunato? This is the question that most of all I asked myself. Too bad that this time the placenta with the features of Hoshijiro ended up in the hands of the government, who knows what will happen. Narratively I expected a fight longer, but despite being denied, I do not regret. Soundtrack excellent, my vote is 8/10.

I felt so sad watching the compilation at the end without an announcement for a 3rd season
This finale was legendary with those reinforcements coming to rescue

The placenta sapping into the cockpit of Nagate was such a sexy/creepy scene

Overall this would be the best of summer even of this year so far
