I'm actually kinda impressed. I mean, going head to head against Rakuzen including their captain Akashi with his Zone active takes guts. Kagami no doubt takes the risk anyways.

Pretty well rounded episode though.

Even Akashi is slightly scared~

Score is VERY close now.

He stole the ball when defense and shot himself. That person in front of the door in Red's zone... kuroko?? Kuroko offered help. Just go the opposite as Red does and attraction, huh. In that instance, Red seems to open it. HiroC's character is shocked and he doesn't do well afterwards.

"Who are you?" part showing that his mother introduced him to basketball and showing how split personality happened. The conversation with "loser" self...

I was wondering if they could follow up on last weeks episode and they did a great job of it, heck this episode has to be one of the best in the series. I heard some bad things about this match from a lot of manga readers, but so far in my opinion it's been fantastic and right up there with the match against Yosen and Tohou as one of my favorite matches.
Two episodes to go and it looks like Kuroko no Basuke is gonna go out on a high note!

Akashi's mother flashback was depressing, his winning personality has an urge to win now because of Kuroko. The animation was sick, props to production IG.

The "real" Akashi, eh? Looking forward to it. It was pretty nice to see Kagami and Kuroko working together to shut down the emperor eye.

Though the match actually got a little boring when it was smooth sailing for Seirin.

To a great final!

Other than this BS that Kagami has been in the zone for almost a full quarter it's a good episode especially with Akashi's backstory.

Wow, Akashi was really flustered after Kagami and Kuroko stopped his Zone. His play was practically unrecognizable. And even if Akashi's backstory could be considered cliche, it was still pretty sad. Mayuzumi snapped him out of it, old Akashi is back. That smile at the end was kind of creepy. Next week looks exciting.......

This ep was great~~! The animation of the game was very good and shown from every angle :D And of course the gatekeeper was Kuroko, like he lets Kagami in(helps him not to lose his mind in the whole game). Since Kurokos resolve is playing together as a team~he hardly ever doubts cause it would be like he's doubting his teammates.
And that's not his way of playing basketball.

All faces of Rakuzan players were just amusing but the others too :)
So Akashi was originally somewhat like Kuroko with his love to basketball and that he wanted the players to be close to each other T.T
SO now it's gonna be the best game~~means the two biggest basketball lover of the world (^^)/ are gonna play with each other. Can't wait!

PS. Akashis mother must have been a great person :)

I prefer this anime episode over the manga chapter. Well executed and on spot. I especially liked Akashi's talk with the 'man in the mirror'.

It is just a Sports anime but I appreciate how they deal with so much more.

the quasi-emperor eye of Kuroko

and we finally have a glimpse of the Zone beyond the Zone or the True Form of the Zone when Kagami dunked it against Akashi, Kagami's eyes have gold electricity

and the original Akashi is finally back, lets see what he can do

They changed the opening slightly in this episode.

Opening comparison:

The transitions remind me of the first opening of the second season, which is still my favorite, but this is almost just as good.

I think Kagami being in the zone for so long can sort of not really be explain by the fact that when playing Yosen and Touou, he was constantly on the move, while in this match, his team was good enough that once Akashi broke through, he was solo and didn't have to chase him all over the court.
So it isn't being in the Zone that's taxing, it's how much you move and maneuver that matters.

Holy shit this was an amazing episode! Easily the best episode of this match. Akashi playing by himself was insane! Kagami and Kuroko team up was also pretty awesome.

Felt a bit bad for Akashi after he got beaten. Also really liked the bit where he was talking to his other self. Looks like he has normal eyes now. Looking forward to whatever is going to happen next. Even if it might be pretty BS.

For all the manga readers, will we find out who that person guarding the second Zone door is? Or is it not anyone in particular and just some random dude? I'm really curious about that.

Just in case someone complains about Kuroko's quasi-EE, he has shown glimpses of it before. Here's one of those instances.

Kuroko read Hyuga's movement and took the ball off him even though Kise was much faster.

FINALLY, someone said this. Yeah, all Kagami did in the 3rd quarter (in the zone) was finishing off moves in offense and standing in the paint looking menacing in defense, occasionally making a block. It was only in the 4th quarter that he started moving around, taking on players and trying to keep up with zone Akashi.

Marking Akashi from a distance may require his muscles to be tensed up and his brain in full concentration, but that's different from running around the court and accumulating muscle fatigue. There's no way being passive in the zone consumes more stamina than he did against Shutoku in S1 (for example) when he was having a one-man show in offense and making super jump after super jump to block Midorima.

The only questionable thing about Kagami's time in the zone is whether it is possible mentally to remain in that state of focus for that long. Physically, I don't see a problem. He was playing conservatively in the entire 3rd quarter.

Well, it's been quite an amazing ride, but it's not over just yet. There is still a story to be told, and plot twists yet to come.

Woah! Kuroko's emperor eye?

That moment when Akashi realizes he is not ''absolute''. =D

I really liked Akashi's backstory. It seems he was close to his Mom.
So much pressure for a kid to succeed. I do feel a bit sorry for him.

That was one hell of a battle. Impressive Kuroku and Kagami, really impressive.
Seeing Akashi falling down was waited for so long.
Finally Serin and Rakuzan are very close in score.

I thought the mental battle Akashi had with himself reduced the match hype but it was very necessary, the pressure can kill people! Yet parents like those still exist :/
Akashi now is back! The real Akashi and without the emperor eye! An awesome match is going to start now as I guess.

With 2 more episodes only left I can't help but feel really sad. On a side note, I really wanted to see Kuruko in the zone, hopefully that happens.

I was afraid they will mess up this part in the anime, but if anything it's better then in the manga. Akashi is actually the most vulnerable person in this anime despite the way others interpret him.
Noir… It is the name of an ancient fate. Two sisters who watch anime. The peace of the newly born, their black hands protect.
