I don't know if it has been requested or not yet and am sorry if it has. But in 1.20 I noticed that you added support to send play info to MSN. Is it possible to have it sent to Xfire? Xfire is a free chat system for video games, as such its the only chat system I run on my main desktop where I watch anime. It can be downloaded at http://www.xfire.com/ if you have never heard of it.

I know xfire, they sold it out not long ago for ~$100 M.

Anyway, does it have something like msn's title? does it get it from winamp/mpc etc?

All Xfire has is a customizable status. I didn't see anything along the lines of displaying what you are playing in winamp/mpc.

If its not possible, thank you for reading my request and delivering such a wonderful program. v1.20 had some things I had been hoping for and MALU has now exceeded any expectations.

np. I don't think xfire supports a function like msn's to set a nowplaying message. Anyway, a year from now you'll all be using Mal Messenger instead!

My feature request is to take the irc updater feature in it. It annoys me and other user in IRC. MAL Updater was created for the main purpose updating your anime list on mal, not on spamming channels with your current episode.

Like I said.. it's up to everyone how they use it. This same feature is also present through gtsdll and many other players support it.

It's not even enabled by default in the settings.

And hardly any people use the other players to update they use this mal updater to spam the channel.

veoh and youtube are planned, but I don't know if there's enough people to justify the work.. maybe when the userbase is a bit larger

Well. The only anime I watch on youtube is Yugioh GX, because the subber is too lame to release it on BT. >_>

I always try to find good quality files. Streaming anime is the last resort.

as reaction to the one who asked if mal updater could update himself... can we get a silent install option for non major updates (like the 1.22 and 1.23, that where more like bug fixes, i guess) so its even more automatic ;)

so, updating without you noticing it, ha, you can download a couple trojans and shut down your firewall, you'll get what you need
haha

hm, if Kotori thinks it is easy to do,
IMHO, there are still other things to do, update works already pretty good
you don't need to do anything, you are notified that there is an update available and after a couple of clicks you have a newer version running

What makes you think that there are no trojans in the non-silent updates of MALU? >_<

because I favor a competition on the market, I have suggested that additional 3d party software should be run on the computer as well.
In this way the flexibility in cash flow in the world is reached, breaking barriers between anime lovers and those who even don't know about it.
And that is the true main reason behind your desire to increase the user base...

wth are you talking about? :P

Now being serious, the sudden updates these days have been mostly to fix important bugs, I'm sure most users don't mind having to reinstall in exchange of getting bugs fixed quickly etc. Making updates for quick fixes would mean someone downloading the full installer would need to apply updates after the first install etc.. I think it's fine the way it is now, next update probably won't happen before at least a week when I finish the Tokyotosho and baka parser.

ive been watching an anime on my "plan to watch" list and it updates the ep number but it never got moved to the watching list. Is it possible for it to do that by itself?

Maybe using tabs (between "Now playing" and the actual list) to separate watching and on-hold entries would be useful.

The rest of what I'd like to be different is estetics. The backgrounds for each list entry could've been white, and the difference between on-holds and watchings is almost impossible to see (another reason to add tabs). Furthermore the Lucky Star popup and the options menu fade-stuff (and it's background) looks kinda gimmicky, and an option to make those things more... plain would be appreciated.

Oh, and one more thing, being able to customize what the MSN-now playing line says would've been kinda neat, as even with a short named series (e.g. Beck) becomes massive textwalls when you add anime-prefix, score, current episode, MAL Updater and MAL-link. What about keeping it to something like "Great Teacher Onizuka 24 - MAL Updater"?

Msn customization is planned, probably on par with the mIRC settings. From MSN9 on (there is currently a beta), link in the personal message can be clicked by others, so it's not bad to add an option to link the anime url.

Tabbed lists sounds like a good idea, ill look into it.

hmm, maybe I can add a tag in the settings window which checks the free space in all the drives where you have anime folders for the "next ep" feature

OK Something related to visual style/theme again...

Can the programming software you're using to build MALU take advantage of Aero?
like this program, the glass is extended more than the title bar:

so for example it would look like

...Sorry for bad photoshopping. :P

That's easy, using DWMAPI you can extend the caption bar to the client area, but is it worth it for just the non-theme mode? :p Most people use themes I guess

I'm not much of a fan of themes..

somehow to me all the Character-heavy themes look kinda lame with all the space they're taking. :P
same thing with any other applications that have self-theme modes (like limewire, Realplayer etc)

...oh well, ppl have different tastes. :)

so IF you've got time, i would appreciate if MALU could take full advantage of Aero Glass.
it's not like you need "variations" on no-theme mode anyways, soo.... ;)

ADD: oh also, I think the line small icons underneath the Anime title need to be touched just a little.
looks kinda jagged/pixelated and can't see what's what. XP

I use primely non theme as well (because themes takes much space, most of them do not fit my desktop style, many of them are inconvenient, some of them have flows (like bad edges))

I love non theme mode because you can see about 20 entries on one page
I am indifferent if something is done for Aero Glass. However, any improvement is a good thing.

(I would like to be able to change colors (background) a little (not just the gauge, which is also not very intuitive, I was able to chose just one of predefined, though it looks how I would do it myself..))

Wow nice to see some improvements right away :)

Is it also possible to add additional graphic-interface things or additionally tinted background like in
"Add gadget" window from Windows Sidebar?

or like in my photoshopped version (I copied different parts of interfaces so I guess everything in the mock-up could be possible :P)

I'm thinking of a dedicated settings panel for the non-theme mode, but it won't come for some time. Right now there are quite a few problems with using the glass thing (specific to my programming environment) as you can see in the screenshots :p

looking nice!

though in settings part, I think "Tabs" instead of "buttons" for sections would be better.
and a plain color background may make things easier for you... :P

There was a problem with the tabs and the background picture making the controls inside the groupboxes not transparent, so I decided to use buttons instead before wasting my time trying to solve the odd bug. They won't look like that anyway later on.

How about a wildcard character feature in the file rename tool
so if I say " [ * ] " to " "
it removes the "[1888ACFC]" etc. parts in a file.

I know there is no need to remove that and not many people will use it
but I just wanted to mention it and maybe someone else likes the idea. :-)
