The amount of mana is almost meaningless in that instance, Shirou still has to push that mana through a limited amount of circuits. Tracing and Projecting that many swords simultaneously is BS.

Anyway, not that any of that matters here.
It's actually less bs than it was in the VN, since in the VN it happens way earlier. Unless Shirou is somehow allowed to use Archer's UBW, which would be a different story, but that isn't the case as far as we know.

He tries to reproduce them and then the RM disintegrates. He says just before it happens "There's no way I can reproduce the rain of swords"

So very much nope.

Dunno how it would be in Japanese, but saying "there is no way I can not reproduce the swords out of that rain of swords" sounds a bit awkward. And uncool. People have been constantly in disagreement if "rain of swords" in this case can only refer to the "swords from the rain or swords" or if that is absolutely impossible.

The swordrain CG can also be interpreted as "rain from left vs rain from right", but also as "rain from front"

Actually, what he says is "There's no way I can't reproduce the rain of swords."

The reasoning? "I copied him so many times, if there's nothing wrong with the theory, then..."

If that's enough to give the VN a pass, then it hardly seems fair to not let it slide for the anime too.

That's why I said "retcon at most". None of the issues you mentioned matter much in the anime, because it was only explained in the VN.

Correct, you just reminded me of how that scene and to an extent this entire adaptation contains next to nothing of what made FSN enjoyable to me.

People are critisizing F/sn for "having too much infodump" at this stage already. Imagine if they added even more... you must admit that it may simply not be the right medium for you in this regard. But there is the ideal solution: read the VN.

I read complains like "too much infodump!" or "unlimited exposition works" and even the good old "they are only talking! Where is my action?"

As I've said before, copying a rain of swords within UBW-yes, even Archers-is entirely different to doing it outside.

Looks like the uneasiness over Miura directing this episode were well founded.

A good lesson for the future: never expect the same quality from a director as when they were at their best (episode 0).

That's the only reason the Wachowskis and Shyamalan still get work

I thought Shyamalan still gets work because people like to ironically watch his works for unintentional comedy?

Really? This was easily one of the better episodes of the cour. Where is the negativity coming from?

Again, Miura directed it together with someone else. I would even dare to say that Saber vs Assassin was the "workload" of "that other person".

It's not 1:1 the same to the VN. The argument themselves are not like that of course, but that is the "root" of the problem, basically.

And as I said in a post earlier, it doesn't say that Shirou can use Archer's world. Of course, it's not confirmed that he can't use it either but hey...

Even if it was "Archer's world" it was never said that Shirou learned sword telekinesis there all of a sudden, so if you call it an asspull in the current anime, it's as much an asspull in Archer's UBW scene in the VN.

As soon as I finish this series I will try to get the VN soon after that. From what I been told the VN vastly surpasses this adaptation.

Idk man, this was like average. It was nowhere as good as episode 20 for example.

Honestly I have to watch it with subs first, because I have no clue what the anime original stuff was all about. Aside from that Saber vs. Assassin was crap.

You try so hard lol

Dw I'm sure it will be fixed in the BDs

I thought I was extremely average considering the scenes it covered, But perhaps I was expecting too much.

The Reality Marble is almost his. It is easier for him since it is outside the "normal world" so Gaia won't try to erase his projections and the inner world of Archer is still close to the inner world of Emiya Shirou. It most definitely is easier within the UBW, Archers or otherwise, than it would be outside.

I don't even like this adaptation. But today's episode was a solid adaptation of the events covered and expanded on a few things to boot.

First half of the ep I was like yawn talking and hm some flashbacks, pretty boring... Second half I was laughing at how much CookingPriest and co. would rage due to all the stuff ufotable pulled out of their asses, seemingly with the sole purpose of making Shirou look extremely weak and pathetic. Assassin vs Saber fight was a massive letdown as well, it had less exchanging of blows than opening 1... Probably less than 2 seconds in total. Not sure if its 1 or 2 out of 5(was fun seeing Gil next to the lion)

I was let down by their first fight, but I can't believe how much better it was than this one :(

Ughhhh...

There are just so many things that went wrong during this episode... Rin rescueing Shinji and waiting in the middle of the fleshy-and-muddy Grail, Gilgamesh's anti-climatic gigantic speech, Shirou being knocked down in a derpy matter, that giant arm thing, sufferable CGI which seems to have been created by a 6 year old, hideous effects during swordspam battle... The list goes on... *sigh* What a great way to ruin a series.

See with french subs.
A good episode.
I liked that they showed more about Gil's motivation.
I liked the Ea vs the Grail.
Shirou swordrain was very good.
Assassin was cool even with short screen time, more about this fight would have been cool.

>Establish the grail trying to use Gil as a new core
>make Shirou surviving the Ea-blast less ridiculous
>show Shirou learning how to counter-spam
>show Assassin's sword damaged before TG

Where's the problem?

CGI should be cleaned up in the BD release.

Yeah all that massive amout of blue lightning when he is using projection is stupidly cheesy and cringey. Also the only way Shirou can survive against Giglamesh is by offsetting his NPs with the same ones, he cannot survive with Kanshou and Bakuya alone like he did during most of the fight this episode.

I call BS on Sasaki Kojiro losing <_<!! Esp that I'm reading Vagabond right now :P

Ea was cool. It wasn't necessary to be there with the hand esp tho XD So much comedy lol

Why can't they just kill Shinji OTL Sure Sakura would love him to be alive too. Priceless LMAO

I can't feel a single bit of hype :/ Well maybe just a tiny little bit when Shirou traced everything and when he shit his pants seeing Ea XD

Eh, just no. If it would been better, I'd given it a 4 or 5. But this is a 2. They'd should better stayed with the VN ending, despite that one also had its flaws.

Episode was decent but not amazing I have to agree.

Saber vs Assassin was meh but the ending was cool.
Gonna have to call an asspull on Shirou tracing on all those weapons and projecting a weapon
Archer's weapon was awesome
Rin getting to Shinji was way too easy
No citizens outside in Japan?

Overall a decent episode but I was expecting more.

I disagree because the character monologues and exposition on certain parts will give much clearer insight than the anime ever hoped to do.

Did Gil say that he wouldn't fight seriously against a mongrel?

And this is just a time-killing sport when he is waiting for Saber?

This wasn't that bad tbh

The only major complaint i have is Saber vs Assasin being so..lifeless and non-existant,i guess, but everything else was decent.

They also showed Kojiro's reaction to bladelocking and his sword was busted at the end too,so that was a nice visual touch. Not sure how many are gonna get it tho.

Ea scene was nice too.

3/5

Shirou actually has a shitload of circuits - but most of them only 'open' once he summons the Unlimited Blade Works bounded field.
Shirou, like Archer, once inside his Reality Marble can match and surpass most Heroic Spirits point for point unless they use their Noble Phantasm (depending on the Heroic Spirit).

I'm currently reading Vagabond atm but I didn't remember that Assassin was Sasaki Kojiro =o Seems like he's the Matahachi version too (I live how historical this series is)

Saber vs Assassin wasn't really action packed but the dialogue made up for it. Their last clash of blades looked stunning and was pretty freaking cool

I hate to see Shinji alive lol but seeing him like that was funny....Rim saving him like a damsel in distress while fighting off dem curses like a boss

Shirou and Gilgamesh's clash and talks was pretty entertaining as well but next week is when the training wheels comes off and I can't wait!!!!!! That EA thing is hax as fuck btw lol

I always liked FSN's "interpretation" of Sasaki Kojirō tbh. This backstory offers a lot of potential for his character but in UBW it kinda just feels thrown in ;/
Ep preview for next week had "do you have enough swords....?"...can't wait.

iirc Assassin isn't someone who pretends to be Sasaki(like Matahachi) but someone that got swordskills that get associated with him.Sasaki is a fictional character

if I'm not mistaken
