Book Girl
| So I started reading this series recently, and as you readers probably know, the first volume had lots of Osamu Dazai's "No Longer Human" references. Luckily, I had read that book already, so I could understand everything much better. Are the following volumes like that too? Because Volume 1 pretty much spoiled the whole book, and I'd rather read them beforehand. |
| No, it's fiction. As far as I know, they don't make many references later on. |

Here is the list of which novel corresponds to which volume (I'm assuming that you're reading the Yen Press's release of this series): Book Girl and the Suicidal Mime: No Longer Human (Osamu Daizai) Book Girl and the Famished Spirit: Wuthering Heights (Emily Brontë) Book Girl and the Captive Fool: Yuujou (Saneatsu Mushanokouji) Book Girl and the Corrupted Angel: The Phantom of the Opera (Gaston Leroux) Book Girl and the Wayfarer's Lamentation: Night on the Galactic Railroad (Kenji Miyazaki) Book Girl and the Undine Who Bore a Moonflower: Gekashitsu/Yashagaike/Kusameikyuu short stories (Kyouka Izumi) Book Girl and the Scribe Who Faced: Strait Is the Gate (André Gide) Note that it's been a while since I read the novels so I got the names of the books covered by each volume from the Japanese Wikipedia page of the series, it's possible that some of the books by Japanese writers have a different name in the novels due to a using a different translation (or actually translating the name of Kyouka Izumi's short stories).
